It was our first time here and we couldn't decide what we wanted. After drooling over the plates that went by, we asked the owner to help us narrow down our options. We landed on the Chicharron Sampler for an appetizer. For our main courses, we had the Bandeja Paisa and the Paella Caribena. We were also eyeing the Dominican-style beef stew and the Sancocho Soup. We asked for a sample of the Sancocho soup and that's when we found out they make everything to order - including the soup! His wife went into the kitchen and whipped up a sample of the soup ... we didn't mind the wait for the sample as we knew she was working her magic! It did not disappoint. We ordered a large soup to go! It'll be cold later this week and this will be perfect in the rainy weather. This place reminds me of home - the way my mother cooks ... the flavors are developed and everything was cooked to perfection. I did a little dance in my chair with each bite! The portions were large - we'll have left overs for the next several days! And I CANNOT wait! We're looking forward to coming back and trying something new! PHOTO DISCLOSURE: We dove into the Chicharron Sampler before we took the photo. What you see is just a small portion of the actual serving size. Also, the photo of the soup was the made from scratch made to order sample of the Sancocho soup.

Its a DR and PR restaurant specializing in that cuisine. Menu was limited not alot of either cuisine. The server was very nice and made sure we were sat right away. We ordered and the food was good. Simple dishes and everyone enjoyed there meal. For a Puerto Rican and Dominican Restaurant the restaurant didnt have alot of decor that indicated it was that type if restaurant with that type of cuisine. Overall a nice place with decent cuisine.

So after seeing all the posts flooding my Facebook about Puerto Rico Cafe, in Manassas, VA., we…read moredecided to make the one-hour drive to Manassas, yesterday, to see what all the hype was about. If you're even thinking about indulging in amazing Puerto Rican food, you need to make the drive to Puerto Rico Cafe in Manassas, VA. I'm serious, it's absolutely worth it. My Scottish fiancé and I (I'm Panamanian) literally drove from Frederick, MD, to Manassas, VA, just to eat there, and I would 100% do it again without hesitation. From the very first bite, I felt like I was back in Puerto Rico during my short but unforgettable year living there. The smells, the flavors, the warmth it hit me right in the soul. The carne frita...Perfect. Crispy edges, juicy pork, seasoned exactly how it should be flavorful and comforting in that "this tastes like home" kind of way. You can't fake that kind of flavor. It reminded me of my mom's cooking and even the food from my beautiful Panama. The pollo en crema de ajo was incredible. The sauce was creamy and full of real garlic flavor, but not overpowering, just perfectly balanced. My husband, who grew up eating completely different British/Scottish food, would not stop talking about it. That says a lot. The pollo en salsa criolla was just as delicious tender chicken with peppers and onions in that classic criollo sauce that tastes like it's been simmering all afternoon. The arroz blanco and arroz con guandules were cooked to perfection not mushy or sticky, but fluffy just like well-cooked rice should be. The yucca wasn't oily; they were crispy, nicely golden brown, and the tostones (patacones in my country) were crispy and lightly salted. And the desserts... listen. The quesitos con guayaba were flaky and buttery, filled with perfectly sweet guava. The pastelillos de guayaba were crispy on the outside, sweet and slightly tangy on the inside. We should have ordered more, I'm not even joking. Now we also ordered parcha and guava homemade juices to go. Nothing completes a meal without a sweet pucker of juice. This wasn't just lunch or dinner. It was an experience. If you're craving authentic Puerto Rican food made with love, this is it. We didn't just find a café we found a little piece of the island right here in Virginia. Thank you for the amazing experience, from a Panamanian and Scotsman. We will definitely be returning.

My friend and I ordered two Abuelo's Favorite Plate and the rice and peas were proportioned, the shredded pork succulent and the ripe plantain sweet and delicious. We topped our order off with two guava and sweet cream pastelillos - pastry nice and flaky and the filling just the right sweetness to end this delicious meal on! Thank you Que Rico for a meal reminiscent of my childhood Sunday dinners!

Pretty good food if you have a craving for Puerto Rican food…read more The Pastelillos were delish. I ordered a ground beef and a chicken with cheese. They were crispy, good amount of filling and nice flavor overall. Fantastic. I think they should serve the meal with a bit more rice. The Pernil, pulled pork was sort of dry and unfortunately the large side of garilc mojo sauce (garlic oil) was sideways in the bag and by time I got it home, the oil had all leaked out into the paper bag and onto the floor mat inside my car. The mofongo bites listed as 5 bites, however I only received 4. They were on the sweet side. The masa from the plantain taste too ripe for my liking. I prefer more green plantains in my mofongo. The tostones were pretty good. The pictures made them look a bit larger, but oh well. This was my first time ordering from a ghost kitchen, and the concept is a brilliant idea because you can order from so many cuisines! You can try so many restaurants in one place. Quite amazing.
