Can't believe this place was still here, it's been about 23 years since I've eaten here. We went for breakfast and it was outstanding. The inside still looks great and clean. We arrived for lunch about 1:45pm after my lab appointment. I thought it stayed open until 5, but after I saw how the waitress didn't really want to wait on us, I asked when they close and she said 2pm. Trying to correct her rude behavior, she said but that's ok I have to be here to clean up anyway. We got the plate lunch special with meatloaf and two sides. You could tell the meatloaf had been sitting awhile but it was ok. My black eyes peas and potatoes were good. My husband said his food was pretty good considering how we ate near closing, but the carrots were not good. They served a little salad and bread pudding for desert which were good. The tea was also good. The waitress turned out to be very nice and efficient. We're from Longview, but we love plate lunches and decided to try this place again a bit earlier. It is nice to have a country restaurant that is reasonably priced so I hope they make it. read more

Excellent local diner--I stopped for breakfast. Bright and clean with friendly servers. The 2+2+2 is a favorite so was happy to see it on the menu. Pancakes were large and fluffy. Great crispy bacon. It was exactly the kind of place I look for on motorcycle trips. One unexpected benefit--purely for me--I think I was the only person in the place with a cell phone on the table (I was alone). Ol' school diner. After the hotel suggested Denny's I just drove around Kilgore and found this gem. Two extra large eggs. Biscuit and gravy. Large order hash browns. Great coffee. And two slices of High. Quality. Bacon. Not the tasteless strips of incinerated cinders usually served in many places. Perfectly cooked thick cut sweet smoky pork. Attentive servers that have been serving since time immemorial. Clean and organized. A hit with locals as it was busy. read more

We had the worst experience ever going into this place, me and my parents. We sat down and got our drinks but we were waiting for quite awhile for the waitress to come back around to take our order. The waitress not only neglect les us but everyone she handed a menu to, making sure to give everyone a drink. Overall, the service was crappy this morning. read more

I always find it disappointing when I begin writing a review for a small town diner such as Circle Cafe and find that another gypsy soul has beat me to it! I mean, I purposely go out of my way on road trips to eat at these fine establishments... let me be first! Anyway, I rolled in early one Saturday morning on my way back into the promised land, also known as Texas. The joint was poppin' with construction workers, retired folk, and the good ol' locals of Kilgore. That is why I love coming to these home-grown joints; everyone knows everyone. Believe me; I do my best to look like local when eating. My local alias was blown when I asked "what are Western hash browns." Luckily, my server did not show any sort of "you are not a local" attitude! That is certainly because this little diner truly does spit out southern hospitality on all cylinders. The order of Western hash browns offered an enormous plate of shredded, griddled potatoes, COVERED in a layering of cheese, with onions, tomato, and bell pepper interspersed within the finely sliced tubers. The damage? A whopping... $2.50. Welcome to Texas. The biscuit and gravy, at ~$2, was a fantastic addition. The sausage at the bottom was not mixed into the gravy, unfortunately, but at least the sausage was meaty, and the gravy was spot-on. Together, they made a sloppy, but delicious accompaniment to my starchy Southern staple. The final verdict? $5. Thus, 5 stars. I don't know in what earthly circumstance you would find yourself in Kilgore, TX, but I would certainly extend a recommendation of Circle Cafe to you. Even if you are not in the boondocks of East Texas... But, if you want to make a drive to eat at a small town diner, I would not look past Circle Cafe! read more

I am a sucker for a good home cooked diner meal. Especially when it is a diner in the Great state of Texas! And what better than a diner in the Oil Capitol of the World, Kilgore, TX. These folks take Southern Hospitality to a whole new level. Even made me a breakfast side well after breakfast was done for the day. Had the Club Sandwich which did not disappoint. Healthy amount of stuff inside the sandwich. No skimping on the meat. The Homemade Veggie Soup was amazing!!! And that breakfast side I was telling you about... you haven't had hash browns until you've had Circle Cafe's Western Hasbrowns!!! Wow... I am well fed today!!! read more

Breakfast- Locally I don't know why we don't break bread here more often. We've never had a bad meal or service here. It's a solid 4 Star. The other thing is the atmosphere. It's a typical, local, small town diner, that's been here for decades. No surprises, just good food, the old school way. I wouldn't change a thing. This is a charming little hole in the wall eatery. Their lunch specials are great and priced right. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. So far all have been wonderful. Only once while there, my sister in law found a hair in her chicken fried steak, and they were most prompt in removing her plate and taking her meal off the ticket, and they apologized over and over. We eat breakfast there at least once a week. Food is great, service is wonderful. The drinks are pricey for the size I choose water .
