One long walk inside the building, crossing outside to the construction zone on Convention Center Blvd to get my Powerball tickets. It was bustling outside the store in in the elevator lobby as a tour bus had unloaded people to attend another convention. The cashier sold me my Powerball tickets, and I walked back to Hall J to attend the trade jewelry show. I used the iPhone APP Lottery Places to locate a nearby lottery retailer. The closest was Fulton Place Market from Hall J 0.4 miles one way distance. Quite a walk, but I did it! Walking 0.8 miles, or 4,224 feet to, & from, was an experience for me inside the Ernest Morial Convention Center to Fulton Place Market inside the Hertz building commercial complex, & back.

Staff was friendly - even during odd hours of the night - "You have no toiletries?" (Clearly she knew we were tourists.) We explained the whole missing bags thing to clear that up. They had everything we needed - clothes included - because who knows how long before our bags get delivered! Prices were reasonable - none of the tourists rates some places charge. What made it better is that it was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel. We returned a couple more times during the week for more basic stuff - mostly snacks, water and other rehydrating drinks. What I mostly appreciated is how conveniently located it is. In the situation we were in, we were grateful for it being where it is!

Once it was light out, I took a safe, pleasant walk through this district and the gentleman met me as soon as I entered with the phone charger in hand. Great service, clean and well-stocked store. It is not crowded, had lots of parking and an appropriate ramp for people with mobility challenges. Great resource in this District. Support local and shop small here.

When you first walk in, you see additional deli and beverage items for sale besides the standard souvenir Mardi Gras type trinkets. I needed to pick up some cough drops and couldn't find them anywhere. The clerk told me they run out fast and to walk 3 blocks to a CVS drug store which I ended up doing. I did save money that way but it wasn't convenient to walk the 3 city blocks to the CVS store just for cough drops.

It contains the obligatory Louisiana souvenirs. Need a cookbook, hot sauce or Mardi Gras mask? You can buy it here. The shop also has various snacks, drinks and magazines. The one surprising feature of this little shop was the variety of beer available. Sure it wasn't cheap, but there were several craft beers that one would normally only find in a specialty store. Kudos to whomever is their beer sommelier or whatever that's called when dealing with beer. In summary, if you're at the Hyatt and need any of the items I listed, come here. If not, don't.
