(it is currently, in "pending" status) I called Murphy's customer service explained that I have a charge for $40 dollars and a receipt for $20. Customer Service insists that they only charged my card for $20.00. I then explain that that I don't go to Walmart and get charged double when I buy $20.00. I went to the WINDOW, not the pump! Since I did credit, instead of debit I feel like this practice is a very shady way to take money from a customer! We went to the window, fully understanding that this would keep us from having a hold on our account for more than the cost of the charge. Only to find out that they are double charging people. You can see below that, there is definitely an issue here. Whether that is a technical issue or there is something shady going on in the store. Customer Service could have done a better job! I continually got stone walled with customer service regardless of the proof I had and also told there was NO MANAGER available when she was obviously done speaking to me. When I request the Managers name and district Mgr. Names I was only given the full name of the manager and told by the same associate the district manager for Murphy's was only giving out his first name. Believe it or not, I am that part of the population where $20 is counted in my budget. Simply it was not Murphy's to take. If there IS something shady going on in that store... they should've been more concerned about stealing from their customer! I was thrilled to finally take the time to experience this legendary Texas institution for myself and I think I spent an absurd amount of time wandering around the store. I looked at everything... then circled back around to look at everything a second time... though I'm pretty sure my friends were very much ready to leave long before I was. And the shopping? Dangerous!!! *Nearly* three digits later, I somehow left with a Buc-ee's t-shirt, a seatbelt cover that I just love so much, Beaver Nuggets of multiple varieties, mints, a magnet/bottle opener, a patch, and honestly probably several other things I didn't technically need but absolutely wanted. Buc-ee's seems to sell literally everything. The highlight of the entire experience, however, was BY FAR getting a photo with Buc-ee himself. Absolutely iconic! Dreams. Came. True. Beyond the novelty of Buc-ee himself, the store was surprisingly clean, well organized, and efficient despite the crowds - so many people! Buc-ee's is basically part convenience store, part gift shop, part roadside amusement park, and yet it all works. If only they had a seating area to enjoy the mouthwatering pulled pork sandwiches they were selling... Anyway, I now *completely* understand the Buc-ee's obsession and can only hope California (or even New York!) someday gets one of their own. Until then, I'll just have to cherish my photo with Buc-ee and Beaver Nuggets from afar.
