Tried this place out for the first time last week. Service was friendly and casual. The decor was well done, are not circus like and look expensive. It's nice enough so that you are not reminded you're in a strip mall. The booths are oddly tall though, which provides lots of privacy, but makes them a little claustrophobic. It's a nice size menu, not too big, not too small. We had the burrata on fried dough to start, which was unique and delicious. Kind of like a pizza donut. My old fashioned cocktail could hang with any I've had in Omaha. The duck filled pasta was amazing. They did not skimp on the duck filling and the flavor was fantastic. The side of spicy sweet carrots was also very unique and blended flavors well. It has some real smokiness to it that I associate with Chinese wok cooking. My wife enjoyed her cacio e pepe and sangria. My only food/drink criticisms are small. They have only 1 vegetarian option for pastas/entrees, and they don't offer a house wine. Portion sizes seemed just right to me, but I could see how some people might think they are a little small. Prices are a little on the higher end, but seem justified by the quality of the food and setting. We arrived early to take advantage of happy hour and weren't too impressed by the happy hour prices on the menu, but somehow were charged a little less than indicated for our drinks. Finally made it to Circo for a little date night! I liked the cozy booths and the servers were all really fun. Drinks were great. We got the beef carpaccio flatbread to start which was really good and a huge serving for an app. My date loved his steak and I got the risotto which could have used a little more flavor/salt. My wife and I made reservations for 7pm, we arrived early and at 7pm they told us it would be a 20 minute wait. Once seated i attempted to order a draft beer, but their tap beer was not working properly so they were not offering any on tap beer. We then ordered our meal and after waiting over an hour asked if it was coming out soon they told us it as the fourth meal in line. We chose to leave and find somewhere else to eat. Our waitress was very nice and tried her best to help us. I would not recommend. read more

We had a terrific NYE dinner. I ordered the NYE prix fixe dinner and my husband ordered a la carte. The scallop and sea bass were cooked to perfection and were balanced with vegetables/starch. Both the beef cheek ravioli and the red wine pappardelle were delicious with rich, complex flavors. Their pastas are all handmade. Tried out Circo for an early Easter dinner on Saturday and all I can say is WOW! From the absolutely wonderful staff to the decadent food, it was all just incredible. While I wasn't able to snag a picture because we dug in too fast the Carbonara really stole the show. My date would give this place 4 stars because she liked her pasta. But this is my review so it is only a 3; and barely a 3. The Cesar salad was nothing to write home about. No tang. No zip. And no anchovies. I was very disappointed with my carbonara. Cibo Vino's carbonara is a 10 while Circo's is a 5 or 6. No real taste and very few pieces of meat. I felt cheated. The wine list didn't impress me and it was overweighted to the high end. My date pointed out that the light fixtures were way too bright. The chocolate cake was just okay. There might be better items on the menu, but the carbonara is not one of them. read more

We had friends recommend this place, but our experience really left us disappointed. Four of us made reservations for 7:00pm, upon reminding the host we had reservations we finally were taken to a table at 7:30pm. Placed in between 2 large parties the atmosphere felt like we had to scream across a table to hear one another. Our table started with their wine menu and we were told they were out of each choice we requested, both in glasses or by the bottle. We ordered the bread service for the table, which took about 45 minutes to be delivered. By this time we had our entrees picked and ready for our Server. Our actual entrees weren't delivered to the table until well after 9PM. The quality of the meal alone was poor. The salt alone in each pasta dish made it unbearable for consumption. The two at the table that ordered the "Medium Rare" dry aged beef filet were delivered a chewy grey cut of meat. When discussed with the server, the manger was sent out to apologize. The acknowledgment of a poor experience and low quality of food was appreciated, but unfortunately 3 hours of a subpar meal is not a good enough reason for a return visit. I understand a new place has to find its groove and work out the kinks; we do wish them the best. read more

First time we went it was absolutely terrible.........food was cold and way over salted and horrible service. Unfortunately, we got a gift card last year so we decided to go back and give it another try. Best we can give it is a 3 stars. It was an average experience but the food again was too salty and frankly just too expensive for what it is. Server was a bit absent but okay. Food selection is limited and too obscure to become something you would want to go back to. Omaha has much better to offer for sure. read more

The food was amazing the service was a little slow and inattentive but once I was noticed at the bar I was greeted by an older man who I believe was the manager and he brought out this soft focaccia bread with some type of cream sauce that was definitely better than butter, I ordered a whiskey sour as well which was quite tasty but the star of the show was the crispy salmon w/ shaved asparagus and lentils with a lemon and tarragon sauce I would definitely recommend it! read more

Amazing food! Me and my boyfriend went there for our anniversary dinner and we have zero regrets. Everything was very favorable, no need to add salt or pepper. Service was top notch, food was amazing, we highly recommend. This was hands down our best dining experience in Omaha which says a lot considering I used to live in New Orleans...a city that thrives in the service industry and produces to notch food. I was very impressed that they change their menu monthly which tells me they use only high quality ingredients, seasonal ingredients which creates an amazing menu! I had the eggplant and pepper dip and the pesto and pistachio farfalle with crab for my entree. It was delicious. Biggest farfalle I've ever seen, haha. Dip was a medium texture, with layered flavors, including a hint of spice. Servers were friendly, attentive, and considerate. We had made reservations a week in advance for 6. They were not able to find our reservations but they were able to seat us. We waited a bit before being greeted by our waitress. My friend and I decided last minute to try this place out. We did call in for a reservation about an hour before heading there, which we were able to get since it was a Tuesday night. The food was delicious! Highly recommend. To start we did the charred broccolini, which is on the sides menu. It was very good. For the main course we both had the salmon which we both thought it was prepared perfectly. The sides that came with it and how they were prepared complicated the salmon very nicely. For dessert we got the pistachio cake. I thought the cake was good but I loved the vanilla ice cream and the orange rind with the cake. It was delicious. Service was very good, as well. Well we gave them another chance and Circo came through. My review went from an original 1 and said we won't be back, to a 4 after last night's visit. The server was not very polished but at least he tried. The calamari was decent. The bread was delicious. My pesto bow tie pasta dish was good, too much pesto. Nice ambiance, decor, and service; wonderful to have a more upscale Italian restaurant in the area. Filet was perfect and the truffled mashed potatoes were delicious. Stopped in for dinner on Saturday, when I was visiting Omaha for the holidays. Everything was fantastic. Wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. Food was wonderful. I had the tortellini. Typically, I am not big on getting a take home box because I don't like leftovers. I boxed up my leftover entree and brought it back to where I was staying, because it was so good. Where I live, there aren't many good Italian restaurants; they are either overpriced white tablecloth places or gross Italian like Buca. Circo brought back memories of the good Omaha Italian restaurants I loved to visit growing up. read more

My true rating would be a 3.75. But I'm new to Omaha and don't have much time to eat out much anymore, so I'm looking to give Circo the benefit of the doubt so 4 stars it is. The atmosphere and food = incredible. Zero qualms with anything I've tried. Highly recommend the duck breast and the duck fat gnocchi that comes with it is legitimately one of the best things I've put in my mouth. The biggest downfall of Circo is its service. Nothing wrong with any individuals I simply think they don't have enough staff. Our food didn't take that long but our server was so swamped he was barely able to check on our drinks, ask about stuff, etc. It was apparent to see that the staff was getting crushed with work. I think if they get the staffing/service situation ironed out this place will be top notch. Regardless, I enjoyed the experience and will go back again ! read more

The spot was perfect for our neighborhood. A group of us went out for a nice dining experience. Our table got several appetizers, drinks and a bottle of wine. All the drinks, : margarita, couple different old fashions (good choices), Dirty Martini & wine were all good. Made perfectly well. The waitress was nice. The food was very good. Everything we ordered was tasty. The focaccia bread, and the calamari very tasty. Every dish that everyone ordered was presentable and seasoned well. We ordered 7 different dishes and not one compl about the food whatsoever. I was even introduced and to the General Manager Andy. We had a great chat and he even went beyond expectations to make sure we were very satisfied with our dining experience. We will all be back soon, and often. I recommend Circo!! read more

Found this restaurant online. We eat out a lot at upscale restaurants and it looked online to be a romantic, upscale experience. The prices were on the high end and we were not impressed with the ambiance. The food (Bolanese and Carbonara) were acceptable, but fell substandard to the price. The wine list could have been easier to read, as they provided it in about 8 point font on copy paper, as were the menus. Still, once we were able to decipher it, it was lacking. I.E., My observation is that the majority of women tend to prefer Moscato wine. The online wine list showed it available but It was not available once inside the restaurant. We are wine 'snobs' so taking that into consideration, there apparently wasn't much thought given to the variety of wines. Also, the online wine list was different than the actual (in person) list. We were also very disappointed with the ambiance, as our table had four ORANGE chairs on rollers and no table cloth on the bare, (wood?) table. It literally reminded us of "Denny's" without the casual dining price. All of that being said, the service was excellent and the manager took the time to come by and ask how everything was. We may have been too hard on him, as he tried very hard to please us. I wish them well, but we'll not return. read more

Traditional version of the OF was very good but the Black Walnut version was quite possibly the best OF I've ever had. Caesar salad was awesome. Super fresh lettuce and lightly dressed. Was perfect. Had the Gnocchi and veggies as well as the Circ O's. Both were very good but the gnocchi dish was absolutely amazing; a non-meat dish that could stand up against anything in Metro today. Its sauce is what knocks it out of the park. This is an instant local gem that everyone needs to check out. So what keeps it from being 5 stars? Put a couple of soups on the menu and fix the sound system. Audio quality for the background music is a bit lame. What a delightful restaurant! We were greeted with smiling faces as we walked through the door and escorted to our table right away. Our server was friendly and attentive, and was quite knowledgeable about the menu -- always appreciated. The manager even suggested a very nice wine to complement our meals, all of which were excellent. We were a party of four, and to our delight, were able to converse easily because the background music was mellow and the room acoustics well balanced. We had a great time with our friends, enjoying great wine, great food, and great conversations. We are looking forward to our next visit! read more
