First thing Percy did was get him a nice glass of cognac, because Percy is not about to sit down at a steakhouse drinking no damn lemonade, extra suga. Then Percy ordered that steak well done, just like a grown man with some sense. And let Percy tell you something.. that shit was perfectly well done. I give this shit 5 stars. Good service, great food. Love the industrial, boiler room feel of this place. They have a smaller menu compared to other steakhouses, but the quality of the food is better to me. A lot of the ingredients are sourced nearby in Nebraska, Iowa, etc., so I'm given the impression that a lot of the stuff there is very fresh. And what we ordered sure tasted that way. We had the tartare, house charcuterie, Morgan ranch wagyu ribeye, and beef cheek from a ranch in Kansas (no longer on the menu, I think the ranch was called Creekstone Farm). The beef cheek was super delicious - melt in da mouth buttery smooth with great flavor. Tasted like bone marrow with a small amount of pot roast beef mixed in. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was the best steak I had in Omaha this year and last. We will for sure be visiting again next year. read more

I'm obsessed with this restaurant. I've only been here twice because it's a type of place to go for a special night in my opinion. The vibe in here is peaceful but moody which I love. The most recent time I came, I ordered chicken breast, and it was the best chicken I've ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection. Everything was so good. The service has always been prompt. I've admired Boiler Room from afar. Collecting reviews from friends and telling others how much I wanted to try it, even living a couple blocks from it...with never the 'right' circumstance to go. That all changed last night and it was beyond my wildest dreams. You arrive to a beautiful, semi-rustic open kitchen/bar concept and warm people who sat us at the coveted kitchen-view table (note, it gets warm--I love this). We shared the Valentine's menu; two starters, two entrees, and two dessert options resulted in us trying one of everything. The starters: Crudo--our surprising favorite--contained buttery yet tart scallops we couldn't shut up about, and fresh made tortellini in a rich red pepper sauce we were spooning out at the end. The entrees: a perfectly cooked crusted, yet tender steak with alarmingly good seasoned hasselback fingerling potatoes, and tender swordfish on a bed of creamy cous cous. The dessert: tart lemon mousse cake was a refreshing end, and a dark chocolate, caramel dish with chantilly I was adding to everything. I had a glass of brut champagne with the dinner and it acted a good cleanser between the numerous tastes but my date had the wine pairing, and that too, complimented everything perfectly. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. I went to an event where I listened in on the chef getting interviews on a podcast. I asked him a question during Q&A and booked my anniversary dinner on the spot. He recognized my name on the reservations and came in on his day off to personally speak with my husband and I. They printed out special menus that say "Happy Anniversary" and gave us an extra cheese on our charcuterie board. We were so impressed with the service, the food, and the drinks! I was heavily pregnant at the time and their mocktails were to die for! Their food was immaculate. I wish I got a picture of the charcuterie board because it was stunning! I recently visited the Boiler Room with my family and had an excellent time. Being able to watch the open kitchen from the upper seating area while dining was a very cool experience. Our waiter was kind and attentive, despite us being sat in the back corner. Onto the food - it was all delicious. The emphasis on local raised meat elevates the house charcuterie board and the pork belly appetizer was fought over until the last bite. For a main, I had the venison, which was perfectly cooked and tender and the sides complimented it very well. I cannot wait to come back for another special occasion! read more

Wow, this restaurant is so unique and the food is amazing. It doesn't look like much on the outside. It's in a run-down industrial brick building. When you walk in, it's an amazing space with an open layout and you can see the kitchen right away. I got seated right above where the chef plates food. The pairings that came with the Wagyu sirloin steak was a bit salty, but steak was cooked to medium just perfectly. A wonderful restaurant for all occasions. We have been here a number of times before and always enjoy a special meal. Tim Nicholson of The Boiler Room is a nominee for Best Chef: Midwest as part of the 2024 James Beard Awards and well deserved. After years of street construction parking access to the restaurant is much easier. You actually enter the restaurant at street level which is the upper level dining area. The restaurant includes a party room and a wonderful viewing of the bar and area from upstairs. Downstairs offers additional seating. Tastefully restored the restaurant has a modern vibe with preservation of the historic structure. Service is always premium at this restaurant and it did not fail today. The food selections were wonderful and all top quality. While a little pricier than some area restaurants, it's truly worth the treat. We went here for the first time tonight to celebrate. We enjoyed it very much. The food was very interesting and tasty. We intentionally ordered different things so we could try each others dish. My suspicion is that they actually do find local in season ingredients based on the high quality of the food we received. Our waitress was attentive and personable. The staff here is clearly well skilled in fine dining. This is one of the top experiences I've had in regard to service. We were celebrating a milestone which they had printed on our menus in acknowledgement. The building is historic and interesting. The space was nice and warm which I appreciated in February. The bare brick with the wall art was eye pleasing. I would certainly return. Only thing to note is that the price point reflects the quality of food and service you receive. Completely worth it in my opinion. However, the price does create a barrier to this being a very frequent luxury for us and will require some budget planning to allow for the splurge. read more

They do not offer military discount. Food was okay nothing to die for, but the service was very nice and welcoming. I did a split for the short rib with my friend so they charged us slightly higher for the more veggies but that is the size of the split. I also had the blackberry sage mocktail, it was also good. The street level entry doesn't prepare you for the open-basement view of the kitchen and bar area. The bar is quite good, reason alone to visit them. The dining can occur there, but the good tables are up on the first floor. Service is excellent and prompt. Whether table side or at the bar, we found it suited us, then and now. Ambience- The place was very cozy and inviting and a nice set up for a date night or dinner with a small group. It was a mix of rustic with modern touches. Very elegant overall without being too stuffy. Food- the food was overall very good. The starters were unique both in texture, taste and presentation and we thoroughly enjoyed each item we tried. For the main courses, all of our meat was cooked to perfection and the dishes were all beautifully plated. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and of good quality and the dishes were overall very flavorful and well balanced both in taste and texture. I would happily order any of the items we tried again. The food came in a reasonable time. The cocktails were good but I wouldn't come here just for the drinks. Service - unfortunately this is the area that lost points from us. I feel as if I could not rate the restaurant higher than 3 stars solely due to the poor service we received. Our server was nice and pleasant however had absolutely no insight into virtually any item on the menu. We asked about taste and descriptions of a variety of cocktails, appetizers, and meal items and the common answers we received was "i'm not sure" or "i don't know I haven't tried that" or " I don't eat or drink xyz so I couldn't tell you". They were not even sure what was on the menu that evening and at one point we were reading the menu together. I understand the menu changes and i don't expect a server to know every detail or every item but I expect a restaurant of its caliber and price point to have servers who can provide at least a small amount of insight into the menu items and provide better answers than "i'm not sure". I have received better service at diners. This place was pricey but overall we did enjoy the food. I would return at least one more time and think it's worth trying at least once. read more

I can't believe it took me this long to get here, but I finally did! I was lucky enough to be treated by a friend for a pre-birthday dinner. We were seated upstairs, which was just perfect so I could watch the kitchen and how it operates. We had an absolutely fantastic dinner and service was impeccable. We came for our anniversary and they had specially printed menus that said happy anniversary, it's small but it felt really special! They also gave us two glasses of champagne to celebrate. Started off with the honey nut squash soup and scallops. The soup will be something I dream of for the remainder of my life and did we try and recreate it? Yes. The scallops were also very delish! For dinner we split the wagyu ribeye steak and when I say it's the best steak I've ever had I mean it. It cut like butter and was amazing! We rounded out the night with mignardise and a chocolate cake. I very much recommend the mignardise because it has a few small bites of different desserts and they were all delicious. We chose the Boiler Room for dinner on the recommendation of a friend whose boyfriend is from Omaha. This is his favorite spot when they come to visit. It's located on a quieter street just adjacent to the main Old Market area. There were cute Christmas lights displayed outside, which some people were taking photos in front of. We walked in and were captivated by the design of the converted industrial space and the aroma of cooked Brussels sprouts. Guests were dressed for nice date nights, which felt appropriate for the atmosphere. The hostess took our coats and showed us to our table in the lofted area. We had a great view of the lower level bar and open kitchen as well as the art and architecture. Our waitress came to discuss the small menu and take our drink orders. When we were mulling aloud about different wines, she offered us generous sample pours of the Gruner Vetliner. We opted for a glass of the Chablis. With the wine came a board with two beautiful slices of bread with a salty heap of room temperature butter smeared on the side. We noticed our neighbors had the same bread board with their butter served in a tiny bowl. We liked our plating better, even if it was because they ran out of bowls. For our first course we selected the Potato Soup, which was just what the doctor ordered on such a cold day. It was a rich, creamy soup with tasty bacon cubes and a nice Grana Padana crisp. I could have eaten six more servings, but that would have been a lot of salt. For the main course, they were serving the swordfish dish with branzino instead (they had just run out of swordfish). The waitress recommended this and she was right to. The branzino was cooked perfectly - flaky with a crisp skin. The sauce americaine was rich, tangy, and wonderful. The rice pilaf was good and the Brussels sprouts tasted as good as we expected when we first walked in. For our other entree, we ordered the pheasant breast, which was also cooked perfectly. The risotto, sweet potato, and broccolini were all good but not quite as good as the branzino accompaniments. One of us was interested in dessert but the other was tired, so we got the check. This is such a great spot right in Old Market, perfect for special occasions or just a nice dinner. The outside isn't super obvious, though behind the wooden door the restaurant opens into a beautiful, industrial two-story space. I made reservations for an anniversary dinner, which the Boiler Room made sure to make special for us. I loved our seat overlooking the open kitchen - definitely the best seat in the house! Our menus were personalized with a happy anniversary message at the top. We loved the sourdough to start. I love the small, often changing menu. The cocktail list is fun and creative, and they have a great wine list as well. I really enjoyed the riesling. I ordered the grilled Morgan Ranch wagyu flank steak for dinner, which was absolutely delicious. The tomatoes and radishes surrounding the steak were also perfect, and I couldn't get enough! I really enjoyed the steak and would definitely order it again. We didn't have space for dessert even though it all looked amazing, but they gave us macaroons as a special anniversary surprise, and they were some of the best I've ever had. Our waitress was amazing and so attentive. She was very friendly and had great recommendations. I am so happy to have celebrated our anniversary at the Boiler Room, and can't wait to return. The ambiance and the inside of this place is great! It's very downtown Omaha with a lot of brick and old style interior with the grill in the open space right in the middle. After a couple cocktails and wine we started with the salmon croquette as an appetizer and I'll say it was ok. Nothing I'd write home about. For the main course I ordered the pan roasted faroe island salmon and it was really good! The veggies were a great addition, the sauce was excellent, and it was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend ordered the Morgan ranch wagyu sirloin steak and I have to say this was the highlight of the meal. It came with great portions, was cooked perfectly and so tender, the potatoes were fantastic, and it was just an overall great dish. I enjoyed our meal here, but for the price I expected something a bit more upscale. Not Michelin upscale, but this didn't quite meet expeditions. I came here with a group on a work related trip. Never having been to Omaha I didn't realize why people referred to "omaha steaks" as it's own category and got the chance to figure that out. The area where the restaurant is located is mostly industrial buildings revitalized for modern businesses. The boiler room was no different and had both an upstairs and downstairs dining. For my meal the waitress recommended the steak medium rare and it was absolutely delicious, seasoned perfectly, and cooked to perfection. This was one of our bucket list restaurants and it didn't disappoint. You know how sometimes restaurants can be hyped up and don't live up to expectations? Not this place! The Boiler Room was amazing in every sense of the word. From the amazing staff to the melt in your mouth food. The boiler room is a must for omaha eats. We started of with drinks and a charcuterie platter. Who knew charcuterie could be that unique and pack so much flavor?! From the house made lavosh crackers, to the jam, to the spreadable pulled pork, we were in heaven! We had the perfect seats viewing the kitchen. We got to see as Chef Tim plated up our meal. His station was super clean and he worked with a lot of precision. We both ordered the steak entree and the plate literally looked like art and we didn't know which end to start with. Steak over a bed of wild rice, with carrot purée, asparagus, and a potato au gratin in the shape of a square. It was absolutely devine and we couldn't stop eating. Our last dish was their pana cotta with meringue. The balance between the crunchy meringue and smooth pana cotta. It was the perfect bite to end our night there. It was great! A bit pricey but worth it. My cocktail, the Space Bandito, was a disappointment as it tasted more like Pine-sol than Mezcal. I had the tenderloin and potato and it was incredible. Seasoned perfectly. And that layered crispy, creamy potato stack...carb yeah! Had drinks, they were good. And dessert. Mine was a lime cheesecake mousse dish...it was not good. Texture was gooey and fluffy all at once. And wow, lime-heavy. Too much so. Hence my .5 stars off. It was a pricey meal. In a group of four, one of us declared it the "best steak of my life." I didn't have the steak, but my venison was really nice. So many of the entrees on the menu looked so enticing that I had a really hard time deciding what to order! What I really want to focus on here is the CHARCUTERIE. Holy cow. This place ruined me for all other charcuterie boards for life. They cure all their own meats, so you're not getting just another standard piece of salami. The flavors were amazing, and the range (including some sort of liver pate) was awesome. We got the cheese board to go with it and asked them to just pair recommended cheeses. Although in retrospect I might have specified some preferences (since I'd been hoping for a blue cheese and didn't get any), there were some really interesting cheeses as well. More crackers (also house-made) would have been appreciated, since we had four people and four crackers for a huge amount of meat and cheese. That's my only quibble. We also had a ragu bolognese pasta as an appetizer that was phenomenal. I wasn't really interested in it since the description sounds pretty standard, but this bolognese was seriously elevated. The wine list definitely is a bit unbalanced in terms of the varietals offered, but we still found a really nice one with a little guidance from the waitress. Don't pass up dessert -- we ordered a seasonal poached pear tart with a gingerbread crust, and it was absolutely divine.
