I was so curious I made the trip from Gainesville Monica gets 5-Stars for Stix Bar & Grill for having free pool all day Monday to Friday before 530 pm, a non smoking room, and great food at affordable prices. She also gets 5 Stars for serving a clientele of all ages and races here. As Bartender Mallory put it, " It gives the teenagers a safe clean place to hang out here when they could be getting into getting into trouble out there ." For free pool and good food and company all day like this? I don't think this will be the last time I make this trip. I will make one comment that could be misconstrued for an old man comment - it seems to be run by the college staff. It isn't bad, but just not as clean, or professionally managed, and doesn't have that "something" that your get from a place where the staff is driven by pride. But again, that is not a unique problem in Carrollton dining. Food is good. Some of it is just not my favorite but anything with the Guinness BBQ sauce is a must try. Corned beef and cabbage is good pub fare as is the shepherds pie. Sweet potato fries are my favorite side, but wish they had a savory sauce to dip instead of just honey. We have friends from Chicago that come into town and ask to go here. They always comment on the solid food and lovely old building.

It comes with 2 cut in half, and was shareable with a small group. I did not order any cocktails, but my friends seemed to enjoy their drinks. For my entree, I opted for the salmon burger and fries & I was satisfied with it. The salmon was fresh and flavorful (not a patty!), and the fries were well seasoned. The others at my table ordered the beef burger, salmon with mashed potatoes and pasta with shrimp or chicken. The ladies who did not order burgers mentioned that their orders were lukewarm (i.e the pasta & mashed potatoes), so they ended up taking them to go. One of the ladies requested plasticware and the server mentioned that plastic ware was typically reserved for to go orders. A little later, Ramee brought out my friend's birthday cake & the crew came with sparklers and a birthday song to celebrate her. The owner, Dre also sent over a gift of forever roses and requested our feedback & ended up sending a flight of green tea for the table. The green tea was good! The cocktail names are so creative and funny even. For brunch we all had something different - Chicken & French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp Omelette, French Toast Breakfast sandwich. The location looks unassuming from outside - it's next door to Cracker Barrel but inside it's like a lounge or speakeasy vibe. Lots of photo opportunities, bar, plenty of tables and even a private room. Our server was very pleasant. You seat yourself and for a Sunday it was pretty slow. The restroom is decorated like a secret garden - don't miss it. I'd recommend this spot when in D'Ville. Mondays they have a live band so go check it out.

When I first arrived at the nearly empty restaurant (only 2 other tables occupied), I went to wash my hands. After stepping out of the restroom, a man who appeared to be the manager ran after me, aggressively yelling because I hadn't turned off the light, screaming about a tiny note near the switch that I hadn't seen. (This was the first sign I should've left. I didn't listen.) Not thinking much about it, I turned it off and went to sit down. I confirmed my starting order with the waitress and kept the menu just in case I wanted to order something else. Got chips and salsa (these are paid, not free) and the drink immediately - the tacos came about 5 minutes later. The waitress said she would be back to see if I wanted anything else. 15 minutes went by. Then 20. No waitress. I was still eating, so I wasn't ready for more food, but my drink was gone. The salsa was spicy, so I slowed down a little on eating until I could get another drink. She's bound to show up soon rt?.. wrong! 10 more mins go by. The busboy reappears to clear the tables of the 2 parties that left. I'm the only one in the restaurant now, but somehow, he avoids eye contact. Finally got his attention and his response is not welcoming. Instead he says, "Did you want something?" I asked for another drink. He brought it. I asked for a container for leftovers and a to-go order of 4 more tacos. (I figured eating from home would be better then being ignored) He said ok and walked away. I looked at the drink to take a sip, and there was a gnat floating in it. 15+ minutes he came back without the tacos or containers, I was over it. I showed him the gnat (he was irritated like I put it there), told him just take it back, cancel the tacos, bring the check and a container cause I was ready to go. He brought back a single strip of foil. When I asked for a styrofoam container, he got the manager who snapped that my order wasn't big enough, and to stop being cheap if I wanted a container. So I guess a total bill of about $35 was being cheap.. ok. He then began to overtalk me (telling me to shut up and listen to him) and point out different items on the table... like a bowl of cilantro that the waitress brought me on the side because I didn't want it on the tacos, and then say you people are always wasting food. That's why I don't want you here you cost me money. Who is you people?!? Okay now I see what this is!!! At this point I'm just looking for the check because I felt my blood boiling!! ... but still couldn't get it. Instead of processing my card at the table like my first visit, the "manager" yelled aggressively, "Why are you still sitting there? Are you stupid? - and told me to get up and get the check. I was given a bill with inflated prices, turning .50 cent extra cheese to $1 for each taco... And other random items that totaled $11 over my order When I contested the total and tried to confirm the math with the busboy, who is now the cashier, he became angry and belligerent. He started cursing me, calling me a "bitch" and insulting me, even though his math was calculated wrong. When I was triggered enough the back and forth began!! I got loud about being targeted as a woman alone (he wouldn't be talking to me like that if I had a man with me), the manager pulled out his phone, acting like he was recording me while telling his busboy "let's go viral." He continued to falsely claim I wanted free stuff, telling the busboy to call the police because I refused to pay the inaccurate charges. After the police arrived, The manager openly told the police, "I don't need her business... your kind is not welcome here," and demanded I be trespassed. I was so disgusted, the whole thing ruined my appetite. I have never experienced such dangerous, abusive, and discriminatory behavior. After going through his reviews, it's clear that it's not only Black people that have experienced his ugliness but this incident felt racially charged It made me question the whole business, so even after I paid, I left all the food on the table. I didn't even trust it. To management: I tried to patronize your business and not judge on the fact that only 2 tables were occupied at 2p on a Saturday (that should've told me something). The way you treat the people who help keep your doors open, (even if they only spend $5) says a lot about you! You want to ban black people and be racially bias... don't worry... I'll help you go viral! To potential customers: DO NOT let the empty tables fool you; this restaurant IS NOT a diamond in the rough, it's a hostile environment with a nasty owner who is unhappy. He clearly doesn't understand that his behavior has a lot to do with why those tables sit empty! Save your money, and go literally anywhere else!!
