Juan was very thorough and I appreciated his cleanup when he was done.There was no scraps of wire, electric tape, nothing left on the ground, which was very much appreciated. And as a side note, there are four houses on our street who have used Northern Pacific Power for their solar needs. Which I would think in itself, is a pretty good recommendation.

When we raised concerns, I believe the salesperson my partner dealt with wanted to make things right, but sales leadership stepped in, dismissed our concerns as unfounded, and offered nothing. Those concerns were (and still are): 1) Sketchy contract execution. NPP offers a 5-year prepaid lease in partnership with Balto Energy. It lets homeowners offset installation costs because the leasing company collects a 30% federal tax credit (no longer available to homeowners) and, in NPP's words, "monetizes that tax credit over 5 years." The contract was executed by sending the DocuSign to just one partner, with all owners lumped onto a single signature line -- one person signing on behalf of the other. For a married couple in California, that's legally questionable under community property law, given a) the encumbrances placed on jointly owned property, and b) no power of attorney authorizing one spouse to sign for the other. I never saw the agreement until installation was underway. 2) Misleading claims. My partner was told, verbally and in writing, that we'd "own the system outright" at the end of the 5-year term. In truth, the contract contains only vague language about a fair-market-value buyout, with no detail on how to initiate it or who to contact at end of lease. We've had zero contact with Balto through this entire process -- only NPP -- yet NPP's sales director told us they have no role in the lease agreement once it's signed. In other words, they don't stand behind the product they sell. Don't be like us -- do your diligence (especially if you're over 65 and new to solar leases), verify every claim against the actual contract language, and make sure all owners review and sign every agreement.

I began working with Ron Dorris Electric in mid-to-late 2022. At the beginning the work went well. In November 2022, I had Ron Dorris Electric install a new lateral drop from the road as well as a new solar-ready electrical box. In Spring 2023, this company's work began to fall apart. The mast connecting the lateral drop to my roof began to pull apart from the roof. Since noticing the issue, I contacted Ron Dorris Electric to alert them and request them to fix it. A roofer/electrician visited and informed me that Ron Dorris' installer should have applied supports to the mast given the height of the mast and the tension of the electrical drop wires. He stated the weight and tension of the electrical wires (without supports) caused the mast to pull of the roof. He said he would fix the problem that week, but when I returned from travel the problem still remained. I have called Ron Dorris and requested a timeline for completing the repair. I still do not have answer. Most calls, even if made around 9:00 a.m., go to an answering service. In the last month (three or four weeks) I have left three messages with the answering service but have not received a call back from those. My diligence helped me get through to someone last week, but I still do not have an update. Ron Dorris has an email address, but I haven't received a response to the two emails I submitted in the same period. All I want is to learn the timeline for correcting the poor workmanship. How long is it going to take to repair the roof and add supports? Will there be a cost to me if your staff complete work that should have been completed the first time? I can appreciate the company is busy, and I am thankful my electrical power still works. I have a hole if my roof, the rainy weather is continues, and I am merely looking for a timeline for completion.

The company also uses large 4-hour appointment windows (8 AM-12 PM or 12 PM-4 PM) for inspections. As a landlord, I was uncomfortable sitting outside the property for hours waiting for the technician to arrive, as I did not want to appear intrusive or make tenants uncomfortable. The phone representative assured me the technician would call before arriving, but that did not happen. Overall, the experience reflected poor customer service and poor communication between departments from the very beginning. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Capstone Roofing.
