Taylor Energy is a fabulous company to work with. They are professional and pay a great deal of attention to details. We have direct contact with Kathy in the office (she is great!) and both Sam and Sean. They are men of their word that have a sincere desire to get everything done right. Very humble guys. We had contacted a couple of companies that specialize in solar prior to working with Taylor. No one bothered to come out and they all told us that we were not candidates for solar based on aerial views. We are do-it-yourselfers and we wanted solar. My husband was searching for solar panels to ship direct from China, but all the producers said they wouldn't ship to an individual and to shop locally. We found Taylor Energy from an internet search and were immediately attracted to their advertisement of free batteries due to a fire resiliency program. This was a new program and I know now that Taylor Energy is on the cutting edge and keeps on top of all the local programs, tax breaks, etc. We contracted with Taylor Energy to do our battery back-up. We told Sean that we would like solar too, but no one thought it made sense. Sean sent a team out to measure the solar possibility on our roof. They prepared a detailed proposal with dollar estimates based on their numbers and our historical PGE bills. The system is designed to last 30 years and will pay itself off in 10 according to the numbers. Our system went operational in October. It is now the first of February. Their monthly estimates for power generation have been dead right, or maybe a little low since it has been a fairly sunny winter. We are very happy with our solar results here in the redwoods of Occidental. All aspects of the work were handled with care, great communication and professionalism. We've had all our questions answered - before, during and after. And since my husband is an engineer, we have lots of questions. They have taken care of all the permit and extra paperwork required for the free battery program. Our solar system has been in operation for a few months. They continue to check to make sure it is working every once in the while via online remote monitoring. They contacted us once to ask if everything was okay since we were missing data, but it was due to a PGE power outage. Overall, we are very happy with the solar system. We are requesting an estimate for an additional free standing solar array on our other property. As knowledgeable people that do most of our home improvement work ourselves, it is a relief to find a company that we can trust totally to put the kind of care into the project that we would ourselves. If you are thinking of adding solar to your business or residence Taylor Energy should be your choice. My wife and made the mistake of hiring a different company in the fall of 2021 and long story short, after they completed the install we waited 13 months with many excuses or simply no communication to find out they had installed a battery system that would likely never be approved in CA. We ended our relationship with them and hired an attorney to help up get the equipment removed and our money refunded. We missed a year and a half of solar savings and were prepared to forget about having solar on our home. In February 2023 we decided to try again. We got bids from two local companies, both with good reputations and the best in equipment. Pricing was very similar but the reason we chose Taylor really came down to first impressions. From my first contact with Selena, a call from Tory and a visit at our home with Tory and Sean (the owner) as well as later contacts with Brandon and Tristan (their electrical contractor) they were professional, courteous, very knowledgeable, compassionate about our situation and in Tory's words "...we would love to be a part of the redemption story here...". Sean sealed the deal that first visit by explaining battery storage to me and helping me understand what went wrong with the first company and why it would not happen again. The best part is we started the conversation with Taylor in late February and had PTO with PG&E on June 23 and we're up and running. This all happened while Taylor Energy was slammed with work due to PG&E's change from NEM 2 to NEM 3. If you want to add Solar and work with a company that does what they say, communicates each step of the way and are just plain good people to deal with then call Taylor Energy. Taylor Energy was a breath of fresh air compared to the other potential vendors we worked with. Tesla could not provide any workable design, others promoted systems too small (because they focused on payback, which we repeatedly told them was not our motivation), and another high-touted local vendor was eliminated after their representative promoted his ability to get a doctor's prescription for a CPAP machine so we could get "free" batteries (nobody here needs a CPAP machine). The electrical system in our home involves a 400 amp service and two 200 amp sub-panels, which required what is basically two systems (none of the other vendors could figure this out and wanted their system to power only one of the sub-panels). Sean Taylor personally surveyed the systems, crawled around under the house and on the roof in order to develop a workable plan that met our solar and backup needs. His crew and support staff were courteous, a pleasure to work with and did quality work. They also reconfigured one part of the system after installation at my request (no extra charge) and after Sean Taylor's inspection, changed some aspect of the conduit to be more asthetically pleasing. From day one, they communicated well, were timely and we passed fire, City and PG&E inspections without a hitch. The City inspector made a comment to the effect that this was one of the most impressive residential systems he'd seen. Were they the cheapest? No. Were they the only organization that listened to our needs and developed a solution that worked? Absolutely. We are extremely satisfied and highly recommend Taylor Energy. read more

Working with Taylor Energy was an outstanding experience. They installed two solar arrays on our under-construction new house and two Tesla PowerWalls in the garage. We have had experience previously installing a solar system on another residence, using one of the big-name providers and their cookie cutter approach. Taylor Energy recently completed an install at my home and I could not be more pleased with the experience. The entire process was smooth and completely painless. I received numerous quotes/proposals from local companies and from the beginning it was clear Taylor Energy understood the project and took great care in explaining everything to me. Also, their pricing was very competitive. I had a few unique concerns with the installation placement and layout and their team worked with me, provided numerous options and ultimately found a solution that fit my situation. They explained all the materials they used and there is no question they source and use the best products available. Roof penetration was a big concern and so I compared the railing and anchors to the other proposals, did my own research and Taylor Energy is definitely using the latest and best materials out there. Putting solar on ones home is a huge undertaking and very expensive. They are so many agencies out there that offer this product it was very hard to choose one. Once I met with Michael from Taylor Energy, I knew I had found the right company. Michael explained the process in a way I could understand and put together a proposal that fit my family's needs. I had other proposals that were cheaper, but upon closer inspection, the products were inferior and the system would not have met my needs. Michael put together a system that will last. My partner and I hired Taylor Energy of Sebastopol to install a grid-intertied, 4KW rooftop solar system and two Tesla Powerwalls. Because Tesla was so back-ordered, we had plenty of time to get to know Sean, the owner, and his team as we communicated a LOT around when, if ever, the batteries would arrive.
