Some officious and racist girl at the attendant stand tells me I can't use it because it's expired. She tells me she doesn't have the code buttons to put in (her first excuse) then tells me she can't let me thru bcoz it's expired and she can't do anything about (causing a long line behind me while she argues with me and then says I should pay the difference) her second excuse. Then she says she needs to call her supervisor who tells her to take all my expired receipts (all paid car washes mind you) and take my license down so as to not let me get future car washes. (Seriously, all this for an $8 car wash) she then tells me that she'll let me go and to never come back because "We don't want your kind back here!" This is the racist comment that Just put me over so I tell her to F off. To make matters worse as soon as my car exits the car wash, this bald older a hole confronts me and screams at me as to why I made his employee cry and why I was screaming at her. I tell this douche that he needs to train his employees to not scream at customers and that his employee is a racist and said she didn't want my kind here! He tells me that his employee would never say that as if he witnessed the whole thing which he did not and just walks away. Nice job alienating a long time customer. Never more! After all the weird weather, back and forth with snow and rain, and soooo much dirt, I celebrated the first warm day of the year and treated our car to a bath. It was time. It was a simple bath, with no bells and whistles, but now I can drive around with dignity in the school drop off line. If you didn't know, there's a car wash in the back of Shell. It's hidden, unless you see the sign at the pump. The great thing is if you plan to use the car wash, you have two options. Pay at the pump and receive $.10 off each gallon of gas, or if you don't want gas you can head to the attendant at the car wash and pay for one of the following three options: * Regular wash $5 * Plus wash adds sealer wax and under carriage rust inhibitor $6 * Premium will get you wheel brightener and polish wax for $7 I take the cheap seats for $5 and haven't tried the upgrade services, but there is no extra tip to pay, so maybe next time. You are on your own here, and they do have interior vacuums available right around the corner from the wash. There is a yearly car wash plan available. They gave us an optional punch pass. After a few washes the next one is free!

Had a chance to stop by a Costco to fill up our borrowed car during our short Chicagoland trip. I…read moremiss the Midwest Costco gas stations, where the lines are never too long. In fact, this one had no line at all during our fill-up. It has 4 islands, with the 3 leftmost having 3 pumps (thus requiring parallel parking if the middle one is the only one open) while the far right only has 2. (22 nozzles in all). Price per gallon was $3.799 for 87, but 93 octane was $5.099 (a 33% markup)...super glad that our car was fine with 87. It's close enough to the Costco warehouse to notice how empty the parking lot felt on a Monday afternoon. This time, though, my wife didn't want to browse (probably because we would have to take it home by plane).

That is all. However, the employees are not trained to work with the public. I recently went in as a subscription member and kept finding the same issue that the license plate is not being read at the gate. I kept having to pay again at the gate so I didn't hold everyone up behind me. Even when we are being told to "honk for service", no one shows up. I had asked one employee to explain why the gate then said that I maxed out my daily allowance which is only because once I was able to reverse and get into the other lane, did they open the original gate. As I began this discussion with a team member there, another employee jumped into the conversation and said it was my fault for moving into the other lane. I told him that I was already discussing this with the other gentleman and he rudely inserted himself. He was supposed to guide my car into the tire channel and instead he walked away like a child so I open my door and asked, "Are you going to guide me?", and he said no and walked into the office to just stand there. Instead, another employee came out to get me through the wash. I told him that I simply had to move since no one came out. He said that they can't hear from all the machine noise. Strangely, they have filed a police report for some reason which I don't get why since it was just a conversation on why the gate didn't come up and I had to get charged and me telling the person that interjected that I was not looking to speak to him since it was being handled already. There are so many car washes in the area that are happy to assist you with your onsite needs and this is absolutely not one of them. Give your money to someone that truly deserves it.
