I came here with some friends and family for a Subway Series game, and I have to be honest in my assessment that I am a Yankees fan. Citi Field is a major upgrade from Shea Stadium. I was at Shea for a game quite a few years ago, and all that I remember from that facility was the fact that I could barely fit into my seat (lengthwise, not widthwise). It seems that they built that place with Peter Dinklage in mind. Seemed sparse in terms of amenities and luxuries, but overall has a pleasant feel, with the obvious exception of trashy Mets fans from Queens. The layout is open with great vistas of the surrounding Queens area, but there didn't seem to be a lot of reasons for me to want to come back. I didn't see any interesting restaurants or bars in the cheap seats that would make me want to spend $60 to come back. read more

They're a nice team to see when the you've seen the yanx and six too many times. The stadium is nice, new, and the staff seem friendly. There aren't any seats behind building support columns, which is nice. Tickets are expensive as is the food. read more

Such a great ball park. Clean, safe and you can even bring your dog. I'm not even big on baseball and I would come again just to hang out for the great food options and the atmosphere. I had nose bleed seats and had the best time. I would imagine it just gets better as you get closer. read more

2013 starts off a new year on Jillian and I's quest to visit all 30 MLB ballparks. We went to 4 in total together last year and CitiField kicked off #5. First off, driving from SJ wasn't all that bad. We would have made it in 2 hours had the Brooklyn Bridge not been closed and therefore backing up traffic in and around Brooklyn for the better part of a half hour. With that though, the stadium was very easy to get to and parking was easy to find....but $20??? Not sure if CBP does this as well nowadays, but damn parking is expensive. The exterior of the park is gorgeous and they were clearly imitating Ebbet's Field. I personally love the look of retro parks (CBP, Camden Yards, etc) and this pulled it off well. There were lots of Phillies fans and wound up in a section with quite a few around us. We went on Autism Awareness Night and they made a note of the lack of loud noises, which would probably explain the lackluster PA announcing? Because if that is what he sounds like on a nightly basis, I feel bad for Mets fans. PA announcing should rile up the crowd and get excited for at-bats, etc. The crowd in general though didn't seem to care all that much about the game as the stadium was about 2/3 full. The park as a spot out in centerfield similar to Ashburn Alley at CBP. They feature local popular establishments: Box Frites, Two Boots Pizza, Blue Smoke, Shakeshack, Pat LeFrieda Steak Sandwiches, etc. They were great options. I really wanted a shakeburger and shake, but the line was waaaaaay too long for me. I decided to try a bunch of other things. We got a small regular fry and a garlic/parm fries from Box Frites. Best stadium fries I have ever had. The pizza from Two Boots was good, but nothing that would "wow" you. I split a sausage/peppers sandwich with Jillian. They used Premio sausage which was tasty and they put the bun on the grill. However they gave us close to zero peppers and ALL onions. Fail. They also only sell Nathan's hotdogs in the stadium. It had been years since I had one and it was definitely great. It was actually nice to not eat a boiled hotdog at a stadium, so that was well done in that regard. Their toppings station was nice as well. They had ketchup braised onions which I was all about. We also got some homemade kettle corn...which is one of my favorite summertime snacks. Huge huge plus. Overall the experience was great and I definitely liked this stadium a lot. Of the "30 Park Tour" my girlfriend have gone on so far. Standings: 1. Citizens Bank Park 2. Orioles Park at Camden Yards 3. Marlins Ballpark 4. CitiField 5. Nationals Ballpark Hot Dog Rankings: 1. Mets Dog - Nathan's...yeah it's just better than the rest 2. I had such a blast at this stadium. I am a cubs fan and never expected to like another stadium. I love Wrigley and love the history and nostalgia, but it is so nice to go to a brand new stadium with amazing amenities. My friend accidentally paid more and buying tickets in Caesars Club. It was so nice to have the club area with more and healthier food choices, a nice bar and very nice bathrooms. The stadium was easy to get to public transportation and it was fun to see a different part of New York. I would definitely go to this stadium again. It doesn't always happen but fans were very nice to the visiting teams friends and I really appreciate that. read more

Waiting for the gates to open in the heat was miserable! Tickets & food is extremely over priced, not family friendly. Hard being an American, visiting for the holiday in the spirit. .. $5.50 for bottled water that really should be given away... $12 is the most popular number for just about everything in the place. $16 for nachos, no drink combo etc... Thats hard on a budget with family of 5. No discounts for Retired Veterans or First Responders only active military... $23 to park should be a crime, that was a legal form of highway robbery. It wasn't valet, you park your car & walk. $22bucks for a pint sized 6yr old to enter also sucks. The ticket booth said sure, the gate keeper said no and sent us back. It was a meeting place for Americas pass time and family to gather with eaxh other that hadn't seen each other in years. Families from Kansas, Sc, Nc, Va, Pa. & New Jersey came together and have discovered. ..we won't do that again. It was a once in a lifetime event, most likely won't ever return. read more

Have you been to Ted Turner stadium in Atlanta? Its the same thing. I went YEARS ago and wondered why we couldn't have a decent stadium like that in NY. I love the layout. Easy to get to food and easy to see the game from EVERYWHERE. We didn't stay in our seats, we stood behind a section that was closer and it was a great experience. They even have cupholders for people who choose to do stand there. Bathrooms not far from any given area, so far pretty clean. Made the game much more enjoyable. read more

Gorgeous complex, inside and out. It's nice. In a way, it almost feels like the new Yankees Stadium. There are many food options. Expensive ones. The center field Shake Shack is brilliant. The constant flow of airplanes flying overhead to land at LaGuardia was a bit distracting. Beautiful park. Maybe it's still young. But it doesn't have that "home" feel that Shea Stadium did. It's good, not great but good. I liked the drinks and food. I really wanted to come after watching Susan Feniger (of Top Chef Master & Two Hot Tamales fame), go on about how their homemade BBQ chips and blue cheese bacon dipping sauce were one of her faves (and they ARE really good). I am reading these reviews thinking I'd read something in them I didn't catch with my first visit to Citi Field in many years, but noooooooo, instead I read all about the burgers, fuku (or whatever) and shake shack etc.. Are you kidding me people, Are we all infatuated with food? -- and bad food at that. I wanted to read about the different seats and angles--sun-side of the stadium for people who like or dislike direct sun, maybe something on parking and prices and outside stadium parking, if they even have it, but noooooooo, none of that. I guess I'm the only one who goes to Citi Field to watch a baseball game, learn the players' names, analyze their swings, maybe imagine what I'd do if I was managing the game, or maybe what it would be like to on that field. I do not go to Citi Field, or any concert, broadway show, or Lincoln Center to eat; if I happen to get hungry while I'm there, I'll grab a hot dog and a coke like millions of people have done since the game was first played a hundred years ago. While we are on the subject of baseball, I'd highly recommend the Baseball Hall of Fame located in Cooperstown, NY as a nice 3 day weekend trip if you're driving 3 or more hours to get there. It's really a quaint little town. Couples should stay at one of the many bed and breakfast Inns there are for a real 18th century feel. There's a ferry ride on the lake in warmer months -- a very nice way to spend an hour or two. Enjoy the game! It pains me to give CitiField fewer than five stars.But I'm making a statement here. Lifelong Mets fan of course.And I'm not revewing the hapless team or inept team management here; my remarks are confined to the ballpark as a gorgeous physical plant, and to the management thereof, which can be also pretty infuriating. Bad first: Macchiavellian, evil ticket pricing structure, and exclusionary, elitist admittance policies. Look at the Mets ticket pricing matrix.The same seat can cost you five different prices depending on which team the Mets are playing.Yes, not only are prices tiered according to seating area, but are also tiered from "value" games through 4 more categories to "platinum" games. So no matter where you sit, you'll pay more to see the Mets play a good team than a bad team. I don't know of another team that does that. As to seating areas, there are too many, many more than at other parks: at Citi, it will cost you more to sit in the first couple rows of a given section, a little less a bit further back, less yet further back... ad infinitum. 41(!!!) different seating area categories, 5 "team quality" categories... In short, there are 205 different seat-price categories at CitiField - WAY too many, SO confusing - and CLEARLY designed to wring out maximum profit, fan annoyance and confusion be damned. In contrast, the hated Phillies seem to have 19 seat-price categories: much more fan-friendly. The other thing about CitiField that dismays me is the idiotically elitist coupling of ticket purchased by price and admittance to certain concessions. Example: Citi has a premium, upscale, waitstaff-serviced restaurant, the Acela Club. I hear the food is very good; lunch/dinner runs about $50 per person without alcohol. I've never been permitted to dine there, because I can't afford to spend the over -often WELL over- $100 it would cost for the particular field-level seats which would entitle me to get into Acela. What about if I don't wish to spend a fortune on tickets, but do want to splurge on a nice lunch one day? Tough, go get a hot dog, lady: that's park management's attitude. There are several of these eateries and lounges, each with its categories of tickets allowing admittance.There's even one of these restaurants on the uppermost seating level - but you can't eat there if you have a ticket on that level! PLEASE. Even the Yankees - traditionally the "more elite" NY team - don't practice this bullcrap at Yankee Stadium: if you have a cheaper upper-level seat, but you want to have a pricey dinner at their steakhouse, you can go right ahead and do so. I sent an email to CitiField management expressing my anger at the blatant unfairness of this policy, and got back a reply about how they want to create extra value associated with the "better" tickets - pure bullshit. So that's why the downgrade of a star. Otherwise, yes, prices are high in general - $19 for parking this season! - but that's true of sports stadiums in general, so I accept that. The park is utterly beautiful and well-designed, with wide concourses and a 360-degree view of the field from anywhere within the concourses. Even the decor and finishes are striking. The Jackie Robinson Rotunda main entry area is impressive. Even the restrooms are an improvement over Shea Stadium - heck, Citi in its physical plant is a HUGE improvement over the dump that was Shea in just about every way. I do have one quibble re the layout, though. At Shea, it was easy & convenient to ride a series of connecting escalators up to any level. At Citi, although there are many more passenger elevators than at Shea (which basically had a couple for disabled patrons only), there is no comparable system of connecting escalators from one level to the next; you get off at a given level, and then you have to walk past numerous souvenier and food concessions - in other words, opportunities to spend money - before you find the next escalator up. Also, their so-called security procedures to enter the park are merely an ineffective annoyance. Each patron is patted down by an employee of their gender. I don't love that to begin with, BUT I guess to keep the line moving, it's a very cursory pat-down, which basically amounts to some woman embracing me in a brief but yet overly intimate manner, resulting in an inappropriate imposition on my body while in truth I could pretty much smuggle in anything I wanted if I were of a mind to (which of course I'm not). They don't engage in this useless but offensive procedure at Yankee Stadium, so if you're not going to do it thoroughly, CitiField, hands the !*?! off my person! (The employees doing this seem embarrassed, as if they too realize this is senseless.) CitiField employees, down to the last one, have clearly been instructed to be courteous. And it's a breathtaking park. Quieter than Shea - better than Shea in most ways. Great (non-"elite"!) food, which I've reviewed separately. But only 4 stars for now. read more

It's the home of the New York Mets, and an amazing stadium to boot. How could I give it anything but 5 stars?

I'm a huge METS fan, since I was a kid see...Well, Shea Stadium would be proud. They did a bang up job with Citi Field, it's a beautiful park with ample space everywhere and setup quite tastefully in my opinion. Glad they moved the walls in a little though, the original dimensions were a little crazy. I just went for the 5th time or so this past Monday for the Memorial Day game against the Phils. Took NJT to LIRR and it was a breeze, and air conditioned! Prices are what they are, it's an MLB game...so that being said I love Nathan's so I hit them up for fries and a dog, as the Shake Shack line was easily 50 heads deep (still haven't gotten to try it!) We had some prime seats, lower level section 110 row 27 (1st base side) and really enjoyed ourselves except for a Metropolitan's victory of course...staff is super-friendly and always around if you need someone. All in all a very well run operation for a franchise in such a strange situation!? Anywho, if it wasn't for their crazy owners I'd give them 5 stars...ha! read more

It's the Mets :(... But who knew, I only started actually watching the game towards the bottom half of the sixth, I was too focused on my cheese burger and cheese heat fries from Shake Shack. Also, in case you had any concerns, let me put your mind at ease by telling you they do in fact serve Kirin, which I'm sure is at the top of your mind. When we finally did go to watch the game, we just stood right behind the premium seating section and had an awesome view. Never even made it to the $20 nose bleed seats that we had. The Mets ended up winning, but I don't think I could have cared less. Great stadium though, and considering I live somewhat close by, I'll be back. read more

I really like Citi Field & I'm not even a Mets fan. They're not as expensive as Yankee Stadium & the parking lot is much better also. You hardly have to walk when you park in the lot, it's right near the stadium. Plus they have all the great bars & places to eat around there like McFadden's & Shake Shack. Went to a yankees game yesterday and it really made me miss watching a game at citi field. I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I enjoy watching a game at Citi field way more than at the yankees stadium. Citi field has a much better food and drink selection, it feels more like a park, more family friendly and fun, less obnoxious fans than at the yankees stadium and just overall a better view and feel when you're in the ballpark. It's also nice to have a big parking lot so that you don't feel too crowded and overwhelmed when leaving the game. They designed the perfect baseball ballpark here. Obviously the yankees team have the history and that's why most tourists and non new yorkers flock to the yankees stadium but for a good time and great food you must see a game at Citi field. read more

Came here for a Mets game and LOVED it! We were lucky to get box seating and it came w/unlimited shake shack burgers and other snacks! Citifield is clean and beautiful.... also very convenient to get to since it's right off the 7 train. If you're taking public transportation, I would recommend leaving during the 7th or 8th inning to beat the rush to the subway... read more

I love coming here. It's pretty convenient since I'm only 2 exits away. You're guaranteed to have a great time and the tickets are cheap. It's very family oriented with games for the kids. They have benches in certain food areas so you're not limited to be at your seat. I love that you can view the field no matter where you're walking. You can even get as close to the seating area as possible without being yelled at by the ticket checkers unlike in Yankee Stadium. read more

Everyone is super friendly! I'm there mostly every game! Let's go Mets!! I love the Acela club they have the best view, I recommend you try sitting outside on the porch on a nice Sunny day it is like a 10$ extra charge to sit out there but it's well worth it..if it's a windy day I would say stay indoors you don't want your cups blowing away after they're empty. What a TREMENDOUS and long overdue upgrade from Shea stadium. They did a fantastic job building this stadium and modernizing it to today's baseball standards. Plenty of great food and drink options throughout the stadium. I believe it is ALOT better than the new yankee stadium. I've been to Citi Field quite a few times. The sightlines are very good from wherever I've sat and the amenities might be the best in baseball. Shake Shack, Blue Smoke, David Chang now has a concession, great beer selection, etc. Say what you want about the cost of going to a ball game this year ($23 for parking!?), the experience at Citi Field is worth it, even when the Mets' performance on the field wasn't. read more

Took the trip up for a recent mets v. phils game and was pleasantly surprised by Citi field. It always looks so big and bulky and impersonal on tv... but it was actually a really enjoyable place to watch a game. Concourses were spacious, food choices were aplenty and the facade/entry was a great old style. Probably as many phils fans there as mets fans, so I felt right at home ha. Only 4 stars though cause ticket pricing is absurd given the quality of team you're going to see and there's not really any great city views. read more

Chips were pretty good, mac and cheese was ok, wouldn't "have it's babies" like a reviewer claimed but would call it up when there was no one else available :/ My bf had the pulled pork and really loved it. Not a baseball fan, but really enjoyed my time here last week even though the Mets played miserably! Our seats were great, but I enjoyed going to check out the 400 & 500's as well and enjoyed the view from there much more. Definitely plan on coming back soon since it's so convenient to visit from Jackson Heights on the 7 line. read more

As a Yankee fan it pains me to say this, but I actually like Citifield better than Yankee stadium. I feel it shows a lot of what these huge expensive stadiums should be nowadays. More fan friendly and fan/family oriented.The Bullpen gate is cool, where you can see into the Bullpen and watch them warm up and what not. They have great food, from the obvious attention getters Shake Shack & Blue Smoke, to Keiths grill and just the regular vendors. Plentiful bars, and clubs that you can visit (with the proper ticket) and they are nice.Well dont Mets, at least you guys have done something right recently. read more

I LOVE Citi Field. It is one of the best baseball stadiums, hands down. I am in no means a Met's fan, but the love I have for this stadium would probably convince me to go to a Met's game. If you love baseball and live in the new york area this is the place to be. Great view of the diamond very up close and personal. Toasted lager on tap is great. Filet Mignon sandwich is off the hook. Not a Mets fan but love to watch baseball. I live in brooklyn so the train ride home sucks! read more
