Reviews are accurate that this Bank and especially this branch in Union City has terrible customer service. Its always a hassle to deal with a bank teller. Today was disappointing because all I asked was for 4 rolls of quarters and the teller couldn't help me and asked me to wait for the manager so they can confirm I'm a Citibank member! Seriously, whats the point of having bank tellers that can't even give some small change. I had my ATM card and ID if they really wanted proof, and why would I need to be a bank member in the first place. Today, my son and I were so excited stepping into Citibank to open new accounts. The branch manager, Nilo Hamidi, was very unprofessional. Nilo destroyed the first impression by expressing frustration with her co-worker in front of us. She then moved on to open the bank account for us. However, she did not handle our identification information with care. Instead of having my son to key in his social security into a pin pad, she had him write it down on a post-it note. She didn't destroy it. She even passed the ID back to my son and asked him to read the details loud back to her. Nilo mindlessly handled my son's information. When she asked about my son's current employment, he said that he worked at his college as a tutor. As she looked to her desktop to find the title, it did not come up. Instead of verifying with us, she assigned him as "admin assistant" without even checking with my son. We both started doubting about her capabilities. Best part, she took personal call and talked on her Mobil phone in front of us about grocery shopping while processing my son's personal information. She didn't verify the information she input and push the button to proceed. The Citibank computer system reported my son was denied to open bank account. We were so shocked. How could a college kid with decent credit score being denied to open a bank account. We demanded for better answer. She just gave my son a piece of paper to call. When we tried to ask her further questions just to see where the problem was, she repeated answered "I don't know". What made the whole situation worst, was when Nilo jumped to the conclusion that my son has problems with opening any banks in America in general. The comment she made was "if your son can't open an account here, you don't have to bother to bring him to any other banks in AMERICA. He will never open one". My son was so depressed that his credit score was dinged by her yet wasted an hour for her insulting comments. We walked to Wells Fargo and told them what had happened at Citibank. The banker was very professional. He checked and confirmed there is no issue on his credit score and he opened the new savings and checking accounts within 30 minutes. read more

It was my first time ever going to a Citibank branch so I can't compare it to any other branches. When I first walked in, I noticed the ATMs which was surprisingly clean. Immediately after was the line for tellers. There isn't a lot of space for those who are waiting for a teller especially if there is a long line. I came around 10:50am and there no line at all. I wasn't greeted and there was only one teller at her window and she seemed distracted but that's okay. She eventually greeted me and I told her it was my first time coming to a branch and she explained how paying my credit card works which is very nice of her. After 2 minutes there was a line of 4 people behind me. Another employee came out and helped the line and asked what people were in there for but she didn't greet anyone that was coming in. There is a lot of parking near the branch. Although it wasn't a great experience, I would suggest improving their customer service skills. read more

Went to pay my cc bill. They don't accept cash payments. You have to use the ATM. But i don't have a pin for my cc. They couldn't help me get one. Regardless of my Identification or the bill in my hand, the tellers were unable to provide ANY service to me whatsoever. The automated phone system is sending me a pin within 7-10 days. At that point my payment will be late. So now i have to go to the bank to put cash in, in order to pay via the app. This branch is absolutely effing useless. read more

This pandemic really has changed the way people carry themselves. As I approached the door, the door was locked before me. Then the banker quickly asked, are you tested positive for covid-19? Speechless. In addition, my statements does not show my full credit card number online so it made it impossible for me to payoff a balance I had. You can't look up my information for a payment, really? To top it off, I understand the six feet rule. But the way you separate yourself from people seems like you're disgusted. If you're mentality is treating everyone as if they have a virus, then maybe you should just stay home and not worry about the public. Terrible Bank! I opened a checking account in March 2023. I need this account to receive my salary. Checks are received within 5 working days. It is too long. When I signed up for direct deposit, the support team told me to wait 3 business days. As a result, I did not receive a salary, my account was blocked for unknown reasons without any notification. It is impossible to reach the hotline. And when you call, there is no help. They ask for other phone numbers to send a password for verification. As a result, all the phone numbers I provided do not suit them. They said that they would send the password by mail in paper format within 5-7 days. I didn't receive anything for 2 weeks. The office staff couldn't help me. Employees themselves call the hotline and everything is the same. As a result, I was not notified of the reasons for the blocking. I did not receive a salary. I was told that my account would be closed for unknown reasons and the check would be mailed within 60 days! 60 days without payment. I'm shocked. I will find out this situation and contact the various services with a complaint! I'm from Ukraine. Just got a job. I do not receive any assistance from the state. This is my first paycheck. Not professional at all, we spent about 15 minutes with her and she can not solve our problem then transferred us to another person. This is by far the best Citibank Branch! Loads of parking, safe ATMs and a staff that truly cares...especially the manager. I have a home equity line of credit that was suspended and the credit line reduced, due to the declining market value of the homes in Union City. The manager really went out of his way to help me by contacting the division of Citibank that was responsible and showing them that my house was not under value, and that they should restore my line of credit...which they did! I have never seen a bank manage can be this "UN-POLITE" and unrespectful to customers before, BUT today I experienced it. The manager there has no smile, no patience to serve or explain, and she doesn't "Thank You" to all of the customers whom I saw when I was waiting in line. I wanted to open an account and walked into this branch around 1pm today. The branch closes at 2. I thought i had plenty of time and there was one lady before me to meet a banker. Around 1:15 a banker comes and withoout even asking why we were here, told us, that there were only 2 bankers and they can't help us today. Absolutely horrible customer service. She also said, she can set up appointments for us... big deal!!. Since i had a large deposit to make, I didn't waste time arguing with her and headed to the Mowry branch, about 5 miles away. Wells fargo and chase have absolutely wonderful customer service. I don't think citibank really cares about losing business. I went to this branch of Citibank yesterday at about 3:00 PM. After signing in and waiting 20 minutes, Sophie Yang introduced herself and explained that "she was the only one here today." There were 3 other people waiting ahead of me. She explained that she probably would not be able to address my request to open a new account before closing time. She offered an appointment the following day. I scheduled an appointment for 11:00 AM today. I arrived at 10:57. Sophie greeted me and asked for "a few moments." She then began helping somebody else. I waited 20 minutes and left. Note to Sophie: "A third of an hour is not "a few moments", it is a third of an hour. Terrible service... skip this one. read more

This place is garbage. Went to this branch with a friend to get a cashier check. The teller needed an approval and she waited 5+ minutes before she has to request again because the person was too busy to talk to someone that works there. There were 5 people waiting in line because there was only one teller. I am glad I don't have Citi as my bank. read more

I cannot believe it what this Bank is doing to hurt the consumers. Unfortunately for myself experience with Citibank is the worst Bank I ever do business with them. My credit card was locked when I want to purchase an item at store, they telling me that there is fraud alert going on the card and that they still investigated. I'm the one that using the card and I got a new card, now they said I still cannot use it, because of the Farud alert and a scam alert going on. The WORST customer service. Those young female tellers NEVER smile AS IF they are too cute to smile. The branch manager (David Jung) is an idiot and cannot do simple math (65,000 * 2% / 3 / 30). The idiotic manager said "$2 or $3". They only care to take your money no questions asked BUT too many questions when you make large withdrawals. I have been their customer for 4 years and sadly because the branch manager is rude and plain stupid, I will be closing my account with them. They have sucky interest rates anyway. read more

I am so frustrated with this bank especially whenever I deal with Raksmi Sharma this teller is never pleasant to do business with and I always spend more time then I should with my simple needs. The personal bankers are never around to help me with any issues like opening a new checking account or getting a debit card replaced. However, I am giving one star to the two lady tellers ( I'm sorry I don't remember their names) because they try to provide good customer service and are good listeners but overall it's not enough to keep me here.
