Our family had a wonderful dinner at Citrea last week. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the lovely views of the mountains and Beaver Creek village. My husband and I sipped delicious cocktails while our kids played a few games of cornhole in the grassy area just next to the restaurant's patio. Our appetizers were amazing! We enjoyed the marinated cucumber (fresh and light) and the hummus and labneh (both were creamy and flavorful). But we all agreed that the burrata was our favorite - it was perfection! Even the bread that was served was spectacular! My son does not like olives yet he devoured the olive bread. My husband had the duck special which he said was really tasty, while the kids had shrimp fettucine and pizza off the kids menu. The servings were large so we ended up taking boxes home. The dessert was also delightful! Dessert hits included Nutella ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream sandwiches. As far as the service goes, our server, Megan, was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Despite the restaurant being busy on a Friday night, we were sat quickly and we did not have to wait long for the food. We can't wait to go back and visit Citrea again! read more

I'm not sure if the ownership has changed, but the menu, and environment is entirely different than previously. This used to be one of my family's favorite spots, but we were drastically disappointed. Not only are all the dishes are different, but they all tasted mediocre-- especially for the cost. Our most recent dinner here was a disaster! The service was very poor ("Oh, sorry, this must be yours, right? No? Who ordered this?") and the menu has changed (no carpaccio, my wife's favorite on their old menu). In fairness, the current labor shortage and their recent, post COVID-19 reopening may have contributed to the problem. We're BC locals so we'll keep checking the menu and give them another shot if/when the carpaccio shows up on the menu again. read more

Toscanini is so good. Like, no, literally, you think I mean like 'oh it's so good' but actually I mean like 'kill me now so I don't have to experience the pale shadow of existence that comes after leaving Toscanini'. The staff are kind, helpful, and knowledgeable and everything on the menu is delicious, especially when paired with the delicious wines suggested by the somm. Don't think, just eat! read more

We had a fabulous dinner here last night! Had been here several times over the last 20 years (when it was Toscanini) and we were excited to try with the new vibe. Citrea doesn't disappoint. Our waitress was so gracious and really hustled to cover all the tables. Food was excellent and delivered promptly - highly recommend the mussels for appetizer served with a delicious broth and crusty bread. I had scallops for main course and they were perfectly seared. Husband had the lamb osso bucco and really enjoyed. Try the limoncello martini to start- YUMM! read more

Don't waste your time or money ! They have a limited menu for dining in. Which They call "small plates ". However if you want a to go order you can order from the full menu . They say this is due to Covid and the Vail resort policies . When they explain their small plate options the waitress tells you " these are made to share " . Share really .... first of all they say their current menu options or should I say lack of menu options is because they want to keep everyone safe . Explain to me how sharing a plate would be Covid safe ? And don't ask for bread because they can't serve bread due to Covid either . The server repeated this phrase several times " thank you for adapting " . No I'm not adapting to your establishment The only thing we adapted to was the small menu and only during the 45 minutes we were there . We will continue to eat at Grouse mountain , Spendidos, Zach's cabin and WYLD where they have a full menu and don't talk down to their guest ! read more

I am updating my review. Even though I said we would but return, I was craving pasta after an 8 Mike hike and I am sure glad we did! Our server was absolutely amazing. He was so professional, knowledgeable and super kind. I asked him to order for me and he did an excellent job. Our cocktail were spot on, the wine was perfect and our meals were excellent. Please try the gazpacho as it is very unique and outstanding. The seafood pasta was perfect and my husband had a shank of some sorts and it was tender and delicious. The only draw back is that the prices are very high, especially for the pasta. I realize that you are paying for location and we will be back. The restaurant is good for families if you chose, we opted to leave the kids in the condo and make it a date night and I was happy about that. read more

Tapas style but very, very small portions for basically $20 or more per plate. Food was good but not outstanding. Again, very small portions for the money. It was really a joke. So the atmosphere was ok, similar to any fine dining. The service was good but didn't stand out in any amazing way. But the food was great, at least my dish was! Don't waste your time with the lobster bisque. I should have known better. There are many great things in Colorado and I should have guessed that lobster bisque isn't one of them. So here's my advice: Get the veal scallopini.... I will dream about this when I go home. Seriously. It was just perfectly done with capers and a a short rib with noodles and mushrooms. So many flavors on one dish. It's a lot of food too so don't get any appetizers. Definitely worth it for this dish. And like anything in Beavercreek, it's overpriced my a lot. THIS IS SERVICE ! We came into a very busy restaurant without reservations. The kitchen bar had a few seats open and we opted for that. Immediately the menus were brought in and water served. A minute later the hostess approached us and asked if we prefer to sit by the window in the bar area that we didn't even notice since it was of to the side from the main dining room. They added a whole new section this year from a small crepe place that they took over. Of course we moved to the window where you can watch the ice ring with people skating and a view of a huge Christmas tree decorated with million lights. The hostess took the menus from me and said let me help you with those and don't worry about the water. New glasses with water were brought in immediately. The waiter came to the table before she had a chance to step away from our table. Everyone was SO attentive throughout the entire dinner. Decided to skip the appetizers and went with 2 main courses. Salmon with farro and mushrooms and broccolini was absolutely outstanding! Seafood pasta was excellent. We have been to this restaurant many times before and the food is always good and consistent but their service tonight was absolutely top notch. Thank you to all Toscanini staff ! read more

We had a very nice table overlooking the ice rink with skaters outside. The food was outstanding! Everyone loved the starters, entrees and desserts. Awesome dishes + awesome service. I loved my trout dish. My date had the lasagna and though I didnt tast it the presentation and his judgement are well trusted. Our friends had veal and steak they were totally satisfied. My trout was light and flavorful. The spaghetti squash was lightly cooked and crunchy, just how I like it. We had a reservation for 10, and when we couldn't get all 10 at a table we planned to split our four children between the tables. Enter the child whisperer, Frank, that insisted we have the four children at one table and adults at the other. He promised to take care of all of us and he did not disappoint! The manager/host was great and the only reason this review is getting three stars. He went out of his way to make sure everyone was comfortable and frequently checked on the guests. 5 stars is honestly not enough for this place. From the service to the food, hands down one of the best restaurants in beaver creek. We had a reservation for 8pm (20 people) and were seated and waited on immediately. There was a chipper wine connoisseur who came to our table and made excellent recommendations that did not disappoint! My water glass was NEVER empty and bread was delivered hot and toasty with delicious olive oil for your dipping pleasure. Between all of us, we probably ordered every item on the menu (which were all delicious) but a few definitely stood out. The lobster bisque was top notch. It was thick and creamy with tons of flavor and pieces of crab in the middle. The beef carpaccio was divine. It came with an aoli sauce, shaved parm on the arugula and crispy capers that were a nice touch. For the main course, I went with scallops over mushroom truffle risotto. Now whenever I see truffle on a menu, I'm sold. But let me tell you, this was easily one of the best truffle dishes I have ever had! It wasn't too rich or overbearing and had a ton of mushrooms to enjoy. 11/10 for this gal. My boyfriend ordered the penne and as you can see from the picture below, he wasn't disappointed! I included some other favorites like the chicken piccata for any non-seafood lovers. To end the night, we had some "torta" (chocolate lava cake) and bread pudding- both super yummy! Such a disappointment. Average...maybe. No atmosphere, poor service, we stopped earlier in the day and they made it sound like they would fit us in. When we got there there were multiple tables the restaurant was half full. Even the table layout didn't make sense with tables right in front of the kitchen door. The menu is very limited, the pasta was cold, the pizza was fine but not amazing and the service was terrible. We try to be understanding in the midst of Covid but this was such a letdown. This place was a hidden gem. We didn't have reservations and stumbled upon it in the village and ended up being able to sit outside, first come first serve. We were comforted by heaters, free blankets, and mulled wine! Our waiter even gave us 2 free drinks and cookies because our food was delayed. The pasta dishes we ordered (fettuccini bolognese, butternut ravioli, and ballerine with artichoke) were all over-salted, almost to the point of being inedible. The bruschetta was also a disappointment because of minimal cheap-tasting balsamic, tiny crostini, and runny mozzarella. The quality of food does not merit the prices. read more

They should let you know there is an abbreviated menu. Not accommodating at all, the food wasn't flavorful. I would think if you are only making 15 things they should be delicious! So disappointing since I look forward to dining here every time I'm in Beaver Creek. Calamari not crispy, pizza lacked flavor, so much so that my son took about 4 bites and left the rest. They wouldn't let us order spaghetti and meatballs as it is only available to go, so ordered it to go and it came with about 1/4 cup of sauce. So far, every other restaurant we've eaten at this week has been delicious, so to hide behind Covid is unfair to the consumer. read more

Nice location and outdoor seating was good. The food however was less than par. The mussels were so tough they didn't come out of the shell. The Caesar salad had all brown lettuce leaves and was overdressed, the fish was was over seasoned and was more olives than fish. The tomato salad was the only good thing we ordered. To top it off we realized the next day our credit card wasn't returned to us. After 3 voice messages, they have yet to call us back. Food... on point. Drinks... like rocket fuel. Bread... Italian and doughy. We started off with a salad with crispy artichokes. It was awesome, I've never had artichokes like that before! The roasted calamari with arrugala was also fresh. For entrees, we had the penne, the buccatini, and the flat bread with figs and goat cheese (I subbed the ham for shrimp and it was awesome). All the food was rich and classic. The service was great until we tried to order a surprise birthday treat and the waiter blew up our spot by announcing that the surprise chocolate torta (aka lava cake) was coming and pointed out the wrong birthday boy... which was a little awkward. I did not love the food. Seating and service was good; atmosphere was nice. I had the scallops and risotto. The risotto tasted a bit off, maybe it was because of the shiitake mushrooms. My daughter had the standard spaghetti Bolognese, and she said my cooking is better. Keep in mind, I use canned tomato sauce and ground beef. I generally like to give a good review, but I can't help but feel that this restaurant is complacent because of its location. read more

I just had diner at Toscanini a couple of days ago. It was one of the best positive surprises I have had in a long time. Chef Tom prepared a couple of fantastic (both, in presentation and in flavor) appetizers (Thank you Chef Tom) and Sommelier Matthew paired all our dishes with the perfect wine for each of them (Thank you Matthew). At Christmas every year, the composer Giacomo Puccini had cakes baked and sent to each of his friends. One year after quarreling with conductor Arturo Toscanini, he attempted to cancel the order for his cake. It was too late, the baker replied, the cake already been shipped. Outraged, Puccini promptly sent Toscanini a telegram stating: "Cake sent by mistake." Shortly thereafter, he received Toscanini's reply: "Cake eaten by mistake." Of course, this happened long before Toscanini, the restaurant, opened in Beaver Creek Village. There, very few cakes have been eaten "by mistake", though I'd assume many cakes, pastas, fishes, and all sorts of other delectables have been eaten quite intentionally. We were mighty hungry after a whole day of foot-deep powder and zero visibility. Our knees barely had enough strength left to carry us to Beaver Creek's plaza and we gaped in amazement as we saw kids who still had enough energy to ice skate. Kid's knees are dumb. They don't know when enough is enough...and a day of foot-deep powder is enough! Any adult can tell you that. We slumped into a few comfy chairs at the window overlooking the ice skating rink and the dumb-kneed kids. As a person with celiac disease I have become accustomed to passing by Italian restaurants. I usually shed a few tears for the pasta I can no longer eat and keep going toward any other restaurant I know won't be tempting me with gluten goodies I want but can not have. However that night I wanted garlic. I had to have garlic. It had to be Italian food. ...And garlic. I had asked upon entering about the possibility of eating at Toscanini but avoiding gluten. The hostess turned around and quizzed someone else who went to the kitchen to quiz the chef. Finally the hostess assured me the chef knew about gluten allergies and it would be no problem to meet my needs as everything was made from scratch and any dish could be altered in any way necessary to avoid triggering allergies. ...Only, I couldn't have the pasta. Okay, I kinda figured that. I ordered a salmon dish with risotto and asparagus. Our server checked to make sure the risotto and sauces were gluten free. They were. I asked her if it would be possible to add some of the roasted garlic I'd noticed on another menu item's description. While our dinners were being prepared, I could smell a sudden burst of garlic aroma from the general direction of the kitchen. There was a tall, skinny boy dressed in black from head to blade on the ice outside. He looked like a character from a Tim Burton film. He spun pirouhettes and zoomed backwards around the ice like an Olympic competitor on vacation. A small band of boys, some without skates on, doing belly skids and throwing snowballs at each other kept getting in the way of the figure skater. He'd deftly skid to a stop millimeters away from a clump of boys wrestling on the ice, turn and hop away into another spin around the ice. Obviously the Tim Burton kid hadn't been skiing that day and still had fresh knees. Our food arrived. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the sauce had a beautiful citrus flavor which made the asparagus kick. Kicking asparagus? Well, I guess the asparagus had better knees than mine...but not for long, since I scarfed my dinner down like a soldier returning from a year of jungle duty. Oh, and that extra garlic? It was in there! Yay, it was in there! You don't want to get in my way when I'm on a garlic binge. It is rare to find a restaurant that puts enough extra garlic on when I ask for extra garlic. Toscanini's chef added the roasted garlic to the risotto and although it must certainly have tasted different than the original chef's creation, was perfect for me. Garlic! Although dinner wasn't able to cure our aching knees it was wonderful to have such a responsive staff, attentive and friendly server, and chef who knows the true meaning of "extra garlic". As we left the Tim Burton kid was still zooming around the ice. Just watching him hopping, spinning and racing around made my knees ache a little more.
