I had my first appointment at Sugar Land Hair Bar for a haircut today with Ash Marie. I was greeted…read moreby another stylist when I walked in and she let me know where I could sit and wait for Ash. Once Ash was ready she introduced herself and showed me her station where I could put my purse. I then followed her to the hair wash station. Once done with my hair wash I went back to her station where we discussed what I was wanting for this haircut. She was very friendly and listened to what I was wanting and looked at my inspo pictures. She was very communicative and was letting me know what she was doing to my hair as she was cutting it. We chatted throughout the duration of my haircut. Once done she took pictures of my hair. I paid for my haircut and that was it. I was done in about a an hour. Ash did a phenomenal job with my hair! I'm super happy and highly recommend Ash!

The A in Ashely stands for AMAZING!!!!…read more She truly healed my experiences and thoughts of the hair salon. Before I met Ashley Rodriguez, I had gone to the Salon in Sugar Land and consistently I was getting a hair cut I did not want. So at first I was nervous coming to Ashely but she truly healed how I view salons now. I have gone to her 2 times now and I can truly say she is an angel. For my second appointment I asked to do highlights all over my head and a nice caramel color! Ashely once agained killed it! She walked me through everything to make sure I understood what was going on while making sure I was comfortable! The salon is super cozy and it is not overwhelming like traditional salons. Normally when I get my hair done, it is just me an Ashely which is a huge plus as sometimes I can get anxiety with other customers in the salon. Overall I would highley reccomend Ahsley and this salon! They will treat you with nothing but the best if not even more! I can't wait to come back!!

I don't typically leave negative reviews unless I genuinely feel the experience warrants one…read more This review is a serious warning to anyone with African-American hair, African kinky hair, coily hair, or highly textured curly hair: please think twice before booking services here. Based on my experience, this salon clearly does not have the knowledge, technique, or experience necessary to properly work with these hair textures. I booked two appointments for my daughters at Blo Blow Dry Bar in Sugar Land, Texas for basic wash-and-blowout services. Before booking, I clearly noted in the appointment comments that my daughters have African kinky/coily hair textures. Prior to the appointment, the salon called and asked whether I could come earlier because they were unsure if the stylists would be able to complete the service within the scheduled timeframe due to my daughters' hair texture. Although I explained that I work until 5 PM, I still rearranged my schedule and came earlier so they could assess my daughters' hair beforehand. When we arrived, I again specifically asked whether the stylists had experience working with African textured hair. One stylist even asked to touch my daughter's hair to feel the texture before beginning. After examining their hair, I was told they may need to charge additional fees for extended styling time, including flat ironing and curling. I clarified multiple times that I was NOT requesting styling, curls, or flat ironing because my daughters were getting braids a couple of days later. I only requested a simple wash-and-blow-dry service. The stylist then reassured me that, since we only needed wash-and-blow-dry services, extended timing likely would not be necessary. I arrived at approximately 5:05 PM. My first daughter was taken back around 5:15 PM, and my second daughter approximately 10-15 minutes later. Both services were completed within less than 45 minutes before the discussion about additional charges came up. At no point was I clearly informed that additional charges would definitely apply. I was only told they would "let me know" if extra time became necessary. After the appointments were completed, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $15 per child for "extended blow drying." The final results absolutely did not reflect the price charged. For approximately $70 per child for a basic wash-and-blow-dry service that lasted barely 45 minutes, I expected significantly better results and far more experience handling textured hair. What made the experience even more disappointing was how uncomfortable and demeaning the overall interaction felt. We regularly visit other salons, including Cherry Blow Dry Bar, and have never experienced this level of discomfort or lack of professionalism regarding our hair texture. At one point, after seeing the final results, I genuinely asked the stylist whether she was proud of the work completed because the outcome did not reflect the pricing, the added fees, or the level of service we were promised. See attached photos of what approximately $70 per child looked like after a basic wash-and-blow-dry appointment. The photos speak for themselves. I also have time-stamped iPhone photos confirming both my visit and the condition of my daughters' hair immediately after the service, before anyone attempts to dispute that we were there. My issue is not simply the additional charge. It is the lack of transparency, the disappointing results, and the feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously despite communicating everything clearly upfront before the appointment. If a salon is not experienced with textured African hair, it is completely acceptable to say so honestly before accepting appointments, charging families additional fees, and delivering subpar results. Customers deserve transparency, professionalism, honesty, and respectful treatment.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was upsetting…read more During my blowout, the stylist pulled on my hair and scalp so aggressively that the appointment was painful. My scalp was extremely sore afterward, and I remember thinking something didn't feel right. A few days later, I developed a painful scalp infection/folliculitis with swollen lymph nodes in my neck, fever, and significant scalp tenderness. I ended up needing medical treatment and antibiotics. My doctor told me the condition was likely related to the trauma and irritation to my scalp. I understand that some pulling can happen during hair services, but this went far beyond what I would consider normal or acceptable. No client should leave a salon in pain and later require medical treatment. Based on my experience, I will not be returning.

I have alot of hair, its naturally curly, thick and has a lot of texture. Through years of getting my hair done I realized that not everyone knows how to work on hair like mine. I was lucky to have given drybar a try and got paired up with Ariel. Ariel was great and I signed up for the membership. Without fail I was there 2 to 3 times a month. Unfortunately Ariel quit , I then worked with Dejia who was just as wonderful and I would make it a point to book with her. She also quit sigh.. I tried several stylist after and I always always let the front desk know that I had alot of texture and it would have to be someone with experience . The stylists did not do well with my hair . Tons of product was used , lots of time taken and I was being charged an additional 30 dollars on top of my membership fees because the stylist took over 45min . They made it seem like it was my fault that they took longer. The previous stylists Dejia and Ariel got it done and it was great. But the other stylists took over an hour, the blow puts did not last and I was being charged 30 dollars extra! It didn't make sense Needless to say I canceled my membership.

Therefore, I would recommend going over pricing before sitting in a chair so you're not surprised when it's time to pay for services. I really appreciate Mrs. Julia's sincerity and customer service. ------------------- I went to this salon based off of reviews and service prices listed online. The establishment was nice and clean on the inside, there were only two hairdressers working with the rest of the chairs sitting empty. The original hairdresser I had booked with had a migraine and called out, so I was rescheduled with Helen. She cut my both children's hair. Both of my girls had trims only - maybe an inch a piece on dry, clean hair. That's it. No wash, no dry, no curl or style. Just trims. Based off the pricing online, I was expecting to pay maybe $20 per child (online said kids cuts are $13 and up). They charged me $100! For two trims! When I asked the front desk receptionist about the high prices, she verified with me that they had not received any additional services that would make the price increase that much, stated that she didn't believe the website had been updated in a while & that basically the hairdresser set those prices and there was nothing she could do about it. She was sweet and kept apologizing but I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. The prices are outrageous and it's basically a "well, that's just how it is" attitude. I expect more out of a Sugar Land business. Very disappointed.

I wanted to share my experience so others can make an informed decision…read more I went to this salon simply wanting my existing hair color matched. During the appointment, after the foils were already applied, the stylist started asking additional questions about color choices, which made me feel confused about what was actually being done. When the color was finished, my hair turned out much darker than what I had requested. My request was not anything extreme or complicated, I only wanted to maintain the color I already had. Although I was very unhappy with the results, I still paid over $300 for the service. After leaving, I called the salon to explain my concerns. I was told I could come back for a color correction, but that I would be charged for any additional services. I did not fully understand why there would be extra charges to address a result I was unhappy with, but I returned anyway because of the way my hair looked. Unfortunately, the second visit was also uncomfortable. At first, it did not seem clear how they planned to fix the issue. When the manager became involved, she appeared visibly irritated and began scolding the stylist in front of me. Since the salon is small, the atmosphere became very awkward and unprofessional, and I felt uncomfortable the entire time. Overall, I left disappointed not only with the final result, but with the overall customer experience. I understand mistakes can happen, but professionalism, communication, and how employees are treated in front of clients matter. Based on my experience, I would not return.

Just like any typical vietnamese salon, they're quick and accept walk ins. Since it was my first time I called to make an appointment but they told me to just come in. I got there and was seen right away on a sunday afternoon. The salon was hot and stuffy and they actually left the door open to let air in I guess. It was kind of disorganized and dirty but keep in mind you get what you pay for. Some of the hairbrushes still had hair from previous clients. I came in for a simple women's haircut with layers. My hairdresser blowdried and styled my hair at the end even though I didn't ask for it. Kind of have mixed feelings about it since it was an extra service and I didn't stop her, but was disappointed she did not use any product or heat protection to my hair before doing so. It was 25 dollars total. They take cash, credit, and zelle. Service was fast. I got what I wanted. Overall, it's not bad. Just wish it was cleaner.
