Since we were staying here it was super convenient to have dinner here. They have great happy hour specials (2 for 1) and the service is incredible, fast attentive and kind. I had the octopus that was just ok, others had the burger (tasted like a high school cafeterias burger and was over done), carne asada tacos which were good, BUT the highlight of the meal was my husbands steak. Cons: The service was mediocre at best. My chair was dirty. I pointed it out when they sat us and asked them to wipe it down. They told me it was paint. I then wiped it off with my hand, showing them it wasn't paint. They just shrugged at me and watched me clean it with my napkin. The steaks were half fat and gristle. The mashed potatoes were liquid. I wonder if they were powdered. One person in my party is allergic to dairy and told them that. They left the dairy out but didn't replace it with anything else so her steak was dried out and flavorless. The chicken nuggets were terrible. For the price, the quality should be a lot better. Ate at the bar. Two for one for all drinks made with house liquors (no gin or whiskey). Had the octopus (tender and delicious) and the smoked pork leg (great flavor but dry and overcooked). The next two visits did not go as well, especially enchilada night. The flyer says AYCE enchiladas (red, green or mole) but they bring you 3, then 2, then 1 and they don't have mole. And it is chicken or cheese only - no beef. And the subsequent servings come 30 minutes apart. I have not read any other reviews but we have been staying here at Las Palomas for over 10 years, sometimes twice a year and have NEVER eaten here . We like to go out to the local places, but this time it's pretty chilly so we decided it's time to stay in try it. The service is slow but we love Mexico so much we have come to expect that, enjoy our drinks and wait. The food was good to great we would certainly eat here again but not for a while, so much to explore out in town. Drinks: I had the margarita on the rocks with salt rim (Don Julio) and loved it, had 3 and could have had many more but had to get back upstairs to the kids. Our friend had same with some strawberry juice and she loved it. Appetizers: our friend had the clams and eat the whole thing, she loved it, did it try it so I can't say. We had the octopus and was good Main course: we had the flounder, thought was good but needed salt, pepper, and lemon slice (was a bit too dry) but the combination that it came with was great. Wife had the "other" fish not sure what it was but was good, very tasty and bit more juicy. Deserts: Threes leches : I am not a big fan but friend liked it. I really enjoyed my meal here! I had chilaquiles verde and omg it was the best chilaquiles I've had thus far! It's was on the spicier side, but delicious nonetheless. I know once I leave Mexico I'm going to dream about these chilaquiles lol and the mimosas were a delight! They are made with freshly squeezed orange juice!!! 3-stars because my expectations were low and met. If you are staying at Las Palomas you can't beat the convenience. However, the service is slow and only moderately familiar with the menu/wine list. The Calamari Ring appetizer is under cooked and under seasoned. This dish is served with a tarter sauce (odd pairing) and marinara that is awfully sweet. Beef Medalions. Nice cuts of tender meat and a flavorful sauce but under cooked twice and even at the right temperature, oddly chewy. Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. Boring dish that is bland. It is in no way inedible but in no way memorable either. Pizzas. Clearly NOT house made, this little disc of dough is about as good in taste and quality as a WalMart frozen pizza cooked in a microwave. The restaurant isn't overly priced, however, and the service is quite friendly. They can readily accommodate large groups and, as I stated before, if you are staying at Las Palomas, the location on site makes it satisfactory. read more

This is the "white tablecloth" restaurant in the complex. Sadly we did not make it for the THREE hour 2-1 drinks at happy hour (I think 5-8) We got there right after 8pm and they would not honor it (which is kinda a bummer, but I get it). The prices were reasonable. I had the skirt steak (served with beans a tortilla guac and salsa.) pretty decent - slightly overcooked - I ordered med-rare. I always have a mediocre experience at citron. Yes it's somewhere within the resort to eat at during the evening time if you want. Break from cooking or driving but it's always just OK to me. I've had a few appetizers, entrees and desserts (and of course drinks) but I've never been like omg wow this is sooo good. Everything is OK. The pool bar on the other hand has amazing shrimp quesadillas though. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Anyway- it's fine just not amazing. read more

They had a better dinner menu several years ago. They used to have bacon wrapped shrimp and that was really good. Now they have a lot of things on the menu that are strange and not typical. I'm not a fan of their food and a lot of the items at dinner are tasteless. read more

Where do I begin, horrible management! Went several times during the hours they had posted, was told by hostess they were taking a break, come back in a hour, came back, they said another hour. Finally got in, even though not crowded, ordered special posted at their entry door, they said sorry we are not offering, my husband then said he'd take the second special they had on another poster in lobby, same response. I must have waited five or 10 minutes before anybody even recognize that I was there and there was only two other people in the dining room so I ordered the fried calamari and it was so tough I couldn't chew it so I sent it back and then I wanted a glass of wine from bottle number 40 which was a Chardonnay and they did not have that either so I struck out all the way around at this place maybe you'll have better luck And it's a bit pricey also but then again it said a resort and the resorts usually charge closer to American prices then you can get in town for pesos read more

Although the dishes I've gotten there were pretty good, everyone has complaint about theirs. Everything from, the chipotle dish is super spicy, to the pasta sauce tastes like Chef-Boy-R-Dee. Las Palomas, does some good things, and the food experience here is above average. The elegance of dining, you feel you are at a high end establishment, service, etc.. VERY good.. But,,, the prices are GREAT, very affordable.. Mini Burritos were spot on, just the right crunch on the tortilla, and also, the internal ingredients were great.. Chilaquiles -- ok, seen these on menu, but cant even pronounce it, so never tried.. Wife points to menu n says,, I want this.. boom... These are great.. In my words to explain, these are chicken Nachos served in enchilada style sauce with bunches of cheese. somehow, maybe cause fresh from the kitchen, the nachos still had a great crunch to them. . I will get these next time for sure.. This is always a great choice , great food, great staff , and you feel like you should be dumping out over 100 bucks for this elegant dining, but, hey,, lets keep it to under 20-30... :-) read more

All I have to say is EWWWW. This place was not only bad food but also horrible service (and my family is pretty easy to please). Our food took ONE HOUR to arrive and it was absolutely repulsive. I got the steak and it came with re-fried beans and when it arrived at our table (see picture), it looked like petrified dog excrements. My family got the pizzas and they were greasy and cheese slid off the crust so easily. Like I said my family is pretty easy to please and this was just an awful experience as a whole. Came on a Sunday with 3 friends. Great that they are open till 10:00. We had the grilled shrimp and the mushrooms as appetizers which both were very tasty. For dinner, I had the New York strip which I thought was very good. Cooked perfectly to medium rare. Two others had the beef medallions which they loved, including the creamed spinach that comes with it. The last had the carbonara pasta which he said was excellent. Let me start by saying I never typically leave reviews unless it was a horrible experience and I normally over tip even for s#!t service because I know how servers live off of tips, this is the first time I have refused to tip in easily 15 years of crappy service. Keep that in mind when reading this.....By far the worst customer service and food quality in rocky point. We ordered tacos for the adults and "ham and cheese" for the kids. The place was packed and after 25 mins water showed up. Then about an hour later came the tacos. Just cold meat in a tortilla that had barely been warmed. The boys received cheeseburgers and when I said that's not what we ordered the server said I couldn't of ordered ham and cheese since we don't sell that. I am attaching a photo of the kids menu so you can see how I could be led to believe they sold it. Now it normally would have been a okay fine situation but then my youngest said it tasted weird. I thought he was crazy I mean how can they screw up a kids hamburger. Well icing on the cake was the meat tasted like it was old and had a bunch of stuff in it to bind it together. We gave the boys our tacos and then it was a battle to get the bill just so we could leave. Another person that was with us just wanted a box and had been trying to get a box for quite some time only to be ignored over and over. I eventually got so sick of it that I just went to the kitchen to get their attention and they finally got a box so we could be able to leave. Maybe it was an off day, maybe they were slammed, and maybe I am being to over critical. But my first clue to knowing that this would be one of the worst meals of my life should of been that the place was full and no one had food in front of them. read more

I highly do not recommend this restaurant to eat on your wonderful getaway. Checked in and got sat down after 10 mins waited over 40 minutes just to get our drinks with ice, not to mention have the glass was filled with water from sitting out for so long. It proceeded to take more then one hour and forty plus minutes just for them to never bring our food including the fact that we asked multiple times how long it would take and they would say they would ask and never come back. I highly recommend finding a better restaurant to enjoy with your family unless you would like to be disappointed as well. read more

Brunch buffet is incredible!!! Only $13 for what would probably be $35+ in the states. I was hesitant to eat here because of previous reviews...SOOO glad we did. Brunch had a little bit of everything. Omelette bar, pastries, fruit, yogurt, Mexican dishes AND made to order pancakes and waffles. I take brunch very seriously and this scores very high for me! read more
