I was a few shops up getting a smog check and I asked the tech there if they could recommend a good mechanic who could replace bearings on a front driver and passenger side of my car. He pointed me in the direction of citrus. Real service. After meeting with the mechanic I explained what I felt was going on but he listened and the Opted for me to drop off my car so he could take it out and her for the sound my car was making. So I knew it was the bearing but this was a moment of building trust with me so after he took it out he called me and said it's just your drivers side. I asked should I do the passenger side just in case and he said no. He then sources the parts and said he could do it for about $370 which was a very fair price in contrast to a corporate level mechanic. He got it done in about 4 hours and I went and picked up the car. Now it's been a week and I wanted to see how well my car would do and I commute a little bit so I had to put it to the test and my car runs so much smoother. In fact it feel similar to when I got my car brand new... which kind of blew me away. I'm a loyalist and Citrus will have my business and referred business from here on out. My wife's car was in need of new brake pads. While searching yelp I came across citrus brake service and liked their reviews so I decided to go and give them a try. On the reviews lots of people names Jesse, I'm assuming he's the owner but instead I met Efrain, great guy from the get go. Very professional, knowledgeable and polite. I left the car for him to check. He called me a little later to confirm the car needed only front break pads. When I picked up the car he told me he had also cleaned the brakes in the rear and adjusted them as well. Citrus Brake Service does far more than just brake repair and maintenance. I use them for routine maintenance and even heavy auto repair. My family has been taking our cars here for years and years. Jessie, the owner, was trained by the Detroit 3 in auto repair and used to work for the big dealerships. I think he started Citrus Brake back in the late 1980's. Has been providing better service than the dealerships at a much more reasonable price for decades. You probably have already read about his honest in the other posts here. Beyond that, Citrus Brake is not one of these shops where you leave with a laundry list of things that they "recommend" you need to get done. The work you ask for is the service he provides. He will mentioned if there is something to keep an eye on, but never pushy. Easiest shop to work with in regards to fitting auto repairs into your schedule. Convenient location in Covina. My brakes were squeaking and the pedal was going low to the floor. I had just purchased my car and was worried I had to replace the brakes and rotors. Thanks to Yelp I found out about this place and was blown away by the service I got. Jessie took my car right in, did a thorough inspection, and informed me that the problem was nothing more than my rear drums needing to be cleaned and adjusted. He assured me that the front pads were perfectly fine, and invited me inside to inspect them with him. I couldn't believe it! Since when does a mechanic invite you over to observe their work, and not try and sell you something you don't need? All in all, Jessie did an excellent job, and even tightened up the e-brake as well!!! He only asked $12.00 for the work o.O Wow!!! I couldn't believe it. No more squeaks, the pedal has a nice firm feel when stopping now, and the e-brake only takes four clicks to lock up super tight. It's rare to find a good, honest mechanic these days. Jessie has done the brakes on two of my vehicles, he is fast and he is fair on his prices. The thing that holds him above any mechanic I have gone to, is his honesty and helpfulness. He found some unrelated issues with my car, issues that are not his expertise but he pointed them out and gave me a ballpark figure of what it should cost to get it fixed. I had a leak start after I visited him, I took my car back to see if he could find out what it was. The leak was unrelated to my brake job, it was a main seal that required the engine to be dropped, he said a shop would charge about $700 mostly labor, to repair it. I told him I had a brother in law that could do the job, Jessie wrote down exactly what he should look for. I got the car fixed and I will continue bringing my cars to Jessie. He would not accept any payment for checking out my car and diagnosing the trouble, UNBELIEVABLE. We need more Jessie's out there. read more
