The facility is clean and safe. Mom enjoyed the food and she was a picky eater! They have on-sight hair dresser and podiatrist. Residents are kept busy with plenty of entertainment. Walking outside in the landscaped grounds provides good exercise and relaxing moments under the shade trees. Kudos to caregiver Becky. She would tuck mom into bed at night and helped her with all her personal needs. She was so kind and patient. Mom also enjoyed the kindness of China, Terry, Kristy, Jerilyn, Micky, Rachael, Marnie.....and so many more great people. They all felt like family. It's very difficult to see your loved one suffering with Dementia. These great folks at Brookdale Sylvan Ranch help to lift the spirits of both residents and family members alike. Jessica did not like something I had said in that communication with Pacifica. I am in my 80's, so what she did was not only unethical, but also illegal. Under California law that is elder abuse.

Don't ever ask for an extra cup of coffee. Processed food baloney cold cuts. Last time I had baloney was in 7th grade. Gross glopped dinners. They get their food from Walmart and only Walmart house brand. Yuck. This place will feel like a prison for white collar crimes. It's ground hog day everyday. There is no physical therapy offered from them. The girls who I might add are nice are just there to feed you and bath you if needed. The bathrooms are not ADA Compliant. I could not get a shower for the two months I was there. Sponge bath only. It is very expensive and the owners seem really cheap. They could make the place nicer and cleaner but they may have to spend money oh-no!!!!

My stepdad suffered a mild stroke the end of September. It effected his ability to safely swallow food and drink. On the blessed side, he remained primarily independent and was able to Uber himself to a doctor's appointment and safely return home , days after his stroke. That same night, he was admitted to the hospital for aspiration pneumonia. The following seven weeks, my stepdad's health deteriorated to the point of us considering Hospice for the next step of his care. There is no doubt in my mind as someone who witnessed this deterioration first hand, it was due to the lack of quality medical care. Then, our prayers were answered, and there before us were Jina & David, and their amazing growing staff, who handed us a LIFE line for my dad. I sing their praises from the bottom of my heart. We have dubbed CareHaven, Angels on Earth. They are the real deal. They genuinely care about their residents and make family and friends feel welcome. They are professional and operate above task. Their fresh start in becoming a State Certified Board & Care, shines sparkly clean in this beautiful home. The first thing my mom said, "He won't ever want to come home if he lives here." It's some nice digs ya'll:) Being new to the numerous regulations they must follow to the letter (and they do) David & Jina were still able to achieve an exception required for my dad, in what some in this industry called "miraculous time." My father lived at home for 94 years, but after a brief illness, he was hospitalized. When the…read morehospital planned to discharge him, we realized he wasn't ready to go home alone and would need assistance to regain his strength. We toured Carlton Senior Living and were impressed with the facility. However, after less than three weeks, we discovered it wasn't suitable for him and moved him out. While the staff were friendly, the place was clean, the food was good, and the grounds were pleasant, it was not a fit for someone like my father that needed more assistance. Knowing what I do now, the place is ideal for those who want to avoid housework, engage in activities, and not cook. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for someone needing assistance with basic tasks like using the bathroom or showering. My dad required more help, which led to significant additional costs--almost doubling the original quote. The staff didn't respond quickly enough when he needed assistance. On one occasion, he needed assistance and couldn't wait any longer for help. He tried to get up by himself and fell, hitting his head and requiring paramedics. I also requested multiple times that his night lamp be connected to the Alexa outlet for voice control, but that never happened. He was frustrated with the lack of assistance, in a timely manner, so we looked for alternatives. After moving him out, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $10,000 more than expected. This added to the emotional stress I was already experiencing. After pointing this out, the bill was corrected but I should not have had to do their accountants job. We eventually moved my father to a board-and-care residential facility, which is providing the care he truly needs, and I wish we had made that choice from the beginning.

The cost is much more reasonable and we actually get much more care for her than we ever did at Oakmont in the two+ years she was there. We would highly recommend the Carlton!! I even ran into a couple of staff from there and when they found out my grandmother lived there, they asked me so many questions to provide the best care for her. We love Carlton!!
