The facility is clean and safe. Mom enjoyed the food and she was a picky eater! They have on-sight hair dresser and podiatrist. Residents are kept busy with plenty of entertainment. Walking outside in the landscaped grounds provides good exercise and relaxing moments under the shade trees. Kudos to caregiver Becky. She would tuck mom into bed at night and helped her with all her personal needs. She was so kind and patient. Mom also enjoyed the kindness of China, Terry, Kristy, Jerilyn, Micky, Rachael, Marnie.....and so many more great people. They all felt like family. It's very difficult to see your loved one suffering with Dementia. These great folks at Brookdale Sylvan Ranch help to lift the spirits of both residents and family members alike. Jessica did not like something I had said in that communication with Pacifica. I am in my 80's, so what she did was not only unethical, but also illegal. Under California law that is elder abuse.

Don't ever ask for an extra cup of coffee. Processed food baloney cold cuts. Last time I had baloney was in 7th grade. Gross glopped dinners. They get their food from Walmart and only Walmart house brand. Yuck. This place will feel like a prison for white collar crimes. It's ground hog day everyday. There is no physical therapy offered from them. The girls who I might add are nice are just there to feed you and bath you if needed. The bathrooms are not ADA Compliant. I could not get a shower for the two months I was there. Sponge bath only. It is very expensive and the owners seem really cheap. They could make the place nicer and cleaner but they may have to spend money oh-no!!!!

My client lost her keys and went to the front desk to ask to be let into her room and the front desk rudely lectured her about how she shouldn't loose her keys! Ummm, this is assisted living, people live here because they need help. She literally argued about calling a Med tech or care giver to let her into the room. Very basic things seem to be out of grasp for this community! Terrible service from management at every interaction. Would not recommend!

There is an enormous amount of dry rot on the outside of the building and the interior is very old and dingy. The carpet in hallways is very old, the paint inside is very old and patchy. It is obvious that items repaired are not done professionally. The unit we looked at was supposed to be fully remodeled. When we entered the first thing I noticed was the carpet was new but lumpy every where. It looked like it had been cut and laid down by someone that did not know what they were doing. We toured Carlton Senior Living and were impressed with the facility. However, after less than three weeks, we discovered it wasn't suitable for him and moved him out. While the staff were friendly, the place was clean, the food was good, and the grounds were pleasant, it was not a fit for someone like my father that needed more assistance. Knowing what I do now, the place is ideal for those who want to avoid housework, engage in activities, and not cook. Unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for someone needing assistance with basic tasks like using the bathroom or showering. My dad required more help, which led to significant additional costs--almost doubling the original quote. The staff didn't respond quickly enough when he needed assistance. On one occasion, he needed assistance and couldn't wait any longer for help. He tried to get up by himself and fell, hitting his head and requiring paramedics. I also requested multiple times that his night lamp be connected to the Alexa outlet for voice control, but that never happened. He was frustrated with the lack of assistance, in a timely manner, so we looked for alternatives. After moving him out, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $10,000 more than expected. This added to the emotional stress I was already experiencing. After pointing this out, the bill was corrected but I should not have had to do their accountants job. We eventually moved my father to a board-and-care residential facility, which is providing the care he truly needs, and I wish we had made that choice from the beginning.

The cost is much more reasonable and we actually get much more care for her than we ever did at Oakmont in the two+ years she was there. We would highly recommend the Carlton!! I even ran into a couple of staff from there and when they found out my grandmother lived there, they asked me so many questions to provide the best care for her. We love Carlton!!
