    Goulash soup
    Mark C.

Let's say 4.5 stars. Quaint little drinkery!! I'm visiting and walked from hotel to this great gem of a pub. The meat goulash is enough if ordered as a bowl, especially on a cold snowy day. Dinner is pork shanks with gravy and spaetzle with sauerkraut. The sauerkraut had a hint of sweetness that I had not had before. Wish the beer was colder. Other than that - I'll be back.

House schnitzel! (Cheese, ham and pink divine gravy)
    Joyce W.

Modern set up with old fashioned German recipes! For me, the best Maiboch and weizenboch I have ever drunk. The pink gravy forward house schnitzel was a decadent and satisfying plate of delight. The owner/host was a such an inviting and interesting person to talk to. He put the exclamation point on this 5 star review. Full bar.

Food came out good and hot! Service was excellent! I sat in the restaurant areas and it started out slow but quickly picked up!

    Sauerbraten

Atmosphere: It is really dark in here. There is a small bar area right when you walk in the front. They have a front entrance and a back entrance which is nice depending on where you end up finding street parking. The host/hostess stand is right when you walk in. Service: This place is family owned and it shows, they have friendly and knowledgeable staff that know about the food. Things came out in a timely manner. Food: It was very good authentic food and we had never tasted anything in the area like it. The beer was good. The portions were decent yet we didn't have any leftovers (we did skip lunch that day in order to make sure we had enough room for our food here). Price: The only hiccup. We ordered 2 beers total, 2 entrees, and split a dessert and the bill was $72 before tip. Luckily we had a groupon so we saved a few dollars off of that, but I can think of quite a few places where we can order 4 drinks, 2 entrees, and an app or dessert to split and pay around the $50 mark. Due to the price being higher, this would be a place for special occasions only.

    Curry wurst!!!

So it took us a while longer to get back to this restaurant than we had hoped, but we weren't disappointed! We tried the curry wurst this time, and it was so delicious. The brats were tender and juicy, and not your typical coarse-ground brats that you cook on the grill. And the curry sauce was still amazing. The Reuben soup, with just a light touch of cream to the broth and plenty of bite from the sauerkraut, was perfect. I had the rahm schnitzel again, and it was as good as the last time. My wife had the meatballs with a cream sauce over spaetzle: a combination of pork and beef that produced a tender and flavorful result. Our server, Michelle, was as friendly and helpful and accommodating as the last time we were there when she was our server as well. We also had a nice chat with the manager/owner, Chris, as he was making his rounds at all of the tables to see that everyone was enjoying their experience at the restaurant. The food here is outstanding and the service is too. We love this place and can't wait to go back again.

Cannot recommend the Schnitzel Art Des Hauses enough! An authentic German feel right here in the Midwest. The Owner and Staff are extremely genuine and definitely have a passion for what they do and the food they serve! See you next time OB's Brau Haus!

They have an upstairs tap room, an arcade, and a bar and restaurant downstairs. The service was all-around incredible. The employees were warm, friendly, and professional, and they seemed to know exactly how often to check in without interrupting our meal. They spaced out our drinks, appetizers, and entrees just the right amount. Our server Andrew was particularly great. We had a soda flight of their craft sodas for a super super reasonable price, and every single soda was spectacular. We're spoiled in the craft soda department by virtue of living in Wisconsin (Sprecher, Potosi, etc), but this was definitely the best craft soda we've had. Even the wacky flavors like blue raspberry were rich and flavorful--they didn't taste overwhelmingly artificial. I cannot recommend their soda enough, although I imagine their craft beer is pretty good too! We also had a delicious mocktail, which always goes a long ways in impressing us. All of our food was reasonably priced and so, so, fresh and delicious. The Bavarian pretzel with the beer cheese was heavenly!! We loved our entrees as well. Even something simple like the fries were perfectly done--fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside I don't think we could have asked for a better experience. Everything we had their was top notch, and despite the number of things we ordered, our bill was not very high at all (about $50 for a mocktail, a craft soda flight and a soda pint, an appetizer and two entrees.

I don't know how often the menu changes, but it seemed clear that it did change. There is also a menu of wine, beer, and spirits available. I enjoyed excellent service from Claire and a truly exceptional meal consisting of the Scramble (duck egg, ramps, fingerling potatoes, and topped with crispy potato chips), Country Pate (toast points, stone ground mustard, pickled collard green stems and carrots, and fennel), and Smoked Ribs (corn bread with thyme butter and collard greens)! I loved the vibe of the place, which made it seem like a casual bar with decent bar food. I did not expect the high level of quality dishes I saw on the menu, which followed through to the plate compositions, and then onto my palate! There wasn't a single disappointing bite in any of the three dishes I ordered, which were all from the small plate/appetizer section of the menu under "Colds" and "Hots." The Country Pate board was a perfect start, and the Ribs are smoked in their outdoor smoker, providing a slight smoky flavor and very tender meat. Ribs are served over delicious collard greens and with a side of cornbread and thyme butter. I tasted an herb in the cornbread and forgot to ask, but it may have also been thyme, or just my imagination. The cornbread wasn't moist, but also wasn't dry, and it had the crumbly texture one looks for in cornbread. I did not expect to taste collard greens this good in Neenah. The Scramble was absolutely perfect! You can tell from the photo how perfectly the duck eggs were cooked. There were fluffy and flavorful, and they were served over sliced fingerling potatoes, and then topped with crispy housemade potato chips. I wanted to order more, but I was satisfied, and it was getting late. I still had a 90 minute drive back home and work the next morning. If you're anywhere Neenah, I highly recommend you eat here!

My wife and I visited Town Council for the first time on a Thursday evening, and the place was…read moreabsolutely buzzing. Thankfully, we had a reservation for two seats at the high-top bar directly in front of the open kitchen and service line, which gave us a front-row view of the chefs and dishes heading out to the dining room. More on those seats later. The restaurant itself is modern, stylish, and upscale without feeling pretentious. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. For drinks, I ordered a Lion's Tail beer while my wife enjoyed a prosecco. We started with two appetizers: the Country Pâté for me and the Wisconsin Cheese Plate for my wife. Both were served with pickled vegetables, including cucumbers and red onions, and both were excellent. The portions were surprisingly generous and, in hindsight, we probably could have shared just one appetizer and been perfectly happy. One of the highlights of the evening was watching the kitchen in action. Despite a packed dining room and the added chaos of Thursday burger night, the chefs took time to chat with us and were incredibly kind and hospitable. The chef-owner, who was working directly in front of us, recommended the Roasted Trout, while my wife chose the Roasted Beets. The trout was beautifully cooked. The skin was left on and crisped to perfection, pairing wonderfully with the spaetzle. My only criticism is that it was noticeably oversalted. It wasn't enough to ruin the dish, but it did have me reaching for my water glass more often than I'd have liked. A few bites from my wife's beet dish provided a nice balance, as it was light, fresh, and flavorful. By the end of the meal, we were far too full for dessert, so we settled our tab and prepared to leave. Now, back to those high-top bar seats. The chairs are very tall. I'm six feet tall and still had to hoist myself up into mine. My wife, who is five feet tall, practically had to climb aboard. The view is fantastic, but after an hour and a half, a couple of drinks, and a great meal, it's easy to forget just how far off the ground you are. As I got up to leave, I nearly lost my footing and almost tumbled out of my chair. Unfortunately, my wife wasn't as lucky. She fell backward, hitting her head on the concrete floor and bruising her leg and forearm as she tried to break her fall. Thankfully, she was okay and didn't need medical attention, but she ended up with a sizable bump on her head and some impressive bruises. So, a word of caution: if you're seated at the high-top bar, be aware of the height. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent, but those chairs are not for the faint of heart. Consider bringing a parachute. Would definitely return, though perhaps next time we'll request a table closer to ground level.
