I've been going to this place since they opened and I've always had great service. However today I received excellent service. Jordan, the manager, went the extra mile to make sure her customers knew they were important. A great leader like that sets the tone for the team. A favorite place for us to dine at and this Centerville location is Professionally operated. Dined here numerous times and always very happy with the high quality of food here. Friendly staff too! Many options of meat and we love them all ! Sometimes we also opt for take out and select a couple different meats by the pound ( no Buns ) and a couple of salads and sides and we have meals for a few days from this. Great high quality salad and homemade dressing--I always get the ranch. Hush Puppies, fries, Potato salad , Green Beans are super. Many choices of sauces too. City Barbeque - My visit at the city barbeque. Mmmmm - Barbeque Near Me - Centerville, Ohio

When this place first opened a few years ago we tried it a couple times and were always disappointed with some aspect of the food and even more disappointed with the lack of concern from the management when we would complain. We stopped coming here for several years. About 1-1/2 years ago we tried it again and were very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. So we started visiting more regularly. Those visits have increased in frequency because I can genuinely say that they have worked out all the bugs and in my opinion this is the BEST BBQ around. Now this is one of our favorite places to eat and we come at least every other week. Whenever there is any issue the management is all over it and goes above and beyond to rectify whatever it is. I'm so sure now that they will bend over backwards to make it right that I actually feel guilty about bringing up anything that isn't serious. As for the food, anything BBQ is excellent. My only reservations are with regards to side dishes. Some of them are not up to the same quality standards as the meat. My favorite is "More Cowbell" with coleslaw. In the summer I love the Cucumber Salad. If you were like me and tried City BBQ when they first opened, and quit going, definitely try them again because now it runs like a Swiss watch. read more

Paige was the host who took my order tonight, She was efficient, helpful, & friendly. I always have a great meal here, and it's ready quickly. Very reasonably priced, great quality. I will be ordering a Party Pack for Easter Sunday lunch. We ordered a Party Pack for pickup on Christmas Eve and it far exceeded our expectations. Really good BBQ at reasonable prices. We had the chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. All deliciously smoky and tender. Also tried the greens with pork, corn pudding, BBQ beans, and Mac and cheese. Wow. Can't believe that this place is so well reviewed on Yelp. I guess people in Ohio have never had good barbecue before. I had very high hopes walking in. The place was bustling and it gave off a very "family-owned" vibe. Then I ate the food and it was all downhill. Bland. Incredibly bland. Everything there is just meh. I ordered the beef brisket and the pork. There is absolutely no flavor to any of it. My hometown place in Murfreesboro, Tn has better sandwiches for a dollar. The mac and cheese is a joke. It was genuinely offensive. I was hoping for some good, homestyle stuff, and what I got was just heated up store-bought crap with thin imitation cheese, the slaw is basically just cabbage and vinegar. The gumbo was very good though, I'll give 'em that much, but it doesn't make up for everything else being incredibly overpriced and awful. Seriously, this place sucks. Find somewhere that's more authentic. Ya know, like McDonalds. The more I think about it, the more offended I get by this place. read more

City BBQ may be a chain. But the quality of the smoke, the flavors and the meats is on a par with the best independent southern BBQ places that I've visited. Everything is deeply smoked. The sides are not an afterthought - all side items are high quality and tasty. It's counter service only, but the people here are well trained, efficient and obliging. Management must be tight at this location - Really, after 7+ years of patronage (or since whenever they opened) we have never had a bad experience here. read more

This place serves amazing BBQ Ribs and when I ordered I seen on the menu GUMBO. I love Gumbo and it was great. The bread ( Texas Toast ) was also really good as was the fries. This place was extremely clean and the staff friendly. I started talking with the manager about his Gumbo and he asked where I was from then he said are you going home now ? A bit puzzled I said yes about a 3 hour drive. He then handed me a container of Gumbo and said for your dinner tonight compliments of City Barbecue. Now that's customer appreciation. read more

I ate at City Barbeque about 8 years ago and wasn't impressed. We were craving BBQ and were too tired to make the trip to Middletown for Comb's so we decided to give City a second chance. We arrived at 7:50 and the parking lot was full. The smell of Barbeque was nice and surprisingly the inside wasn't too crowded. Naturally the thing to order was the Judges Sampler. It comes with brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, 2 sides, corn bread and Texas toast. Unfortunately, they were out of ribs. Sort of like running out of fries at McD's in my opinion. Nevertheless we were able to substitute sausage for the ribs. Our sides were the vinegar slaw and hush puppies. The portion size of each meat was decent. There were plenty of hush puppies and a slightly small serving of slaw. The brisket was room temperature, tender, with not much flavor. The pulled pork was cold and dry. The sausage was amazing. The chicken was clearly not cooked thoroughly and was still pink in color. The hush puppies were a perfect size, flavored nicely and not dry. The corn bread is a healthy serving and delicious. The slaw was....disgusting. Texas toast was dry and no flavor. Definitely still room for improvement. Next time we'll make the drive to Comb's. read more

City Barbeque has the best barbeque. They have a variety of sauces. They have the following: sweet barbeque sauce, spicy barbeque sauce and more. They also have the originals ketchup and mustard (if you're an uncultured swine). City Barbeque makes me feel at home. When I was little my papa bull (grandpa on my Dad's side) would always barbeque, every night and when I tasted the food at the city barbeque I got a warm feeling and I knew that the people here knew how to actually cook compared to other restaurants. Now some will say "actually there are better places than city barbeque" and that might be true, but people might not like what they offer. City barbeque does have other options like their sides for instants they have corn pudding, green beans for you vegans out there and I highly recommend their fries. read more

Ok I don't eat meat but my husband loves it. I mysef LOVE city bbq. The staff is awesome and friendly. I always get their huge salad with homemade dressing and at lent they smoke salmon and add it to my salad. Best sweet tea around. Side dishes are great. My husband says they have the best bbq around that stands out on it's own with seasoning. They have 4-5 different bbq sauces you can get on the side. Peach cobbler is AMAZING. Full range of meats.. turkey, brisket, ribs, pork,sausage, chicken... etc. we love it here. Also we get everything catered by city bbq for holiday dinners and our daughters grad party and everyone loved it. We never ever have leftovers and we order enough to feed the whole block. read more

As close as you'll get while in the Dayton area. Expectations are certainly low when looking for a BBQ dining option in the Buckeye state and there is nothing wrong with that. The advantage to this is apparent when you find a place (small chain) like City Barbecue. Service is fast, food is hot, and there a ton of options and sauces to choose from. Had a team lunch there today. I ordered the lite lunch sandwich. Beef brisket with sides of fries and Mac n cheese. The brisket and Mac were delicious. The fries were a little inconsistent. Some were nice and crisp others were a little soggy. Overall the meal was good. I will definitely be back. The service was really quick. You order at the counter and have your meal within a minute. The BBQ is not covered in sauce, so you can actually taste the meat. Their bbq is what will keep me coming back. read more

I heard a lot of good things about this place, but I was still hesitant with the hype, but now I'm a believer. I'm talking everything was so good that I ordered 4 more rib bones and ate them at the table. Now my quest is to try everything else on the menu. Very good BBQ! I love the smoked turkey with the vinegar slaw on top, hubby likes the pulled pork. All of the sides are good (especially that corn pudding). The salads are great too, I get it with smoked turkey on top. You can choose the BBQ sauce that you want and they serve beer, can't get any better than that!!! read more
