I tried: - 3 ginormous Oyster Shooters for $5 ($2 if bought by itself) - Dungeness Crab Cocktail for $9 The portions for both were filling and they came with tasty and slightly spicy cocktail sauce. I love this place!!! I hate pikes market because i have a small case of claustrophobic issue but I will deal with it for this place! First time here because I was told of a place with fresh sashimi! We had the wild caught salmon sashimi ($11.99) and it was so good! A lot more fresh compare to most sushi restaurants! Geoduck sashimi ($10) super fresh and super generous amount! 3 cups of oysters (3 for $6) super fresh and each cup had at least three oysters in them!! At first the cashier only charged me for the oysters and geoduck being an honest person like I am I let him know he didn't charge me for the salmon yet! He end up charging me and came back with two king crab legs to thank me for my honesty!! How awesome is that?! That's why people honesty is the best policy!!! Can't wait to come back!! Love this place for their freshness, and their sushi, crab/shrimp cocktails. Their shrimp cocktails are like 4 inches / shrimp! Oyster shooter (other has reported) is nothing special but its cheap and good quality. Go to Crab Pot to get real shooters in Alaskan Beer and tobasco. Came here after seeing all the rave reviews and pictures of sea urchin and oyster shooters. I was disappointed that they didn't have any sea urchin the whole weekend that I was in town, but they had a ton of oyster shooters that were 3 for $6. They were single cup servings filled with cocktail sauce with no lemons or horseradish unfortunately. The oysters were more than a mouth full and tasted pretty good. Once we've received some really bland service but I think overall, the service here seems good. Mmm, their oyster shooters were pretty darn tasty! I have to admit, I've never had such large oysters in a shot before. I was a bit apprehensive after seeing how large they were (I've heard the smaller the oyster, the safer it is to eat it raw?) but man that cocktail sauce of theirs is damn good haha. Forgive me. I just drank the rest after finish up my foods. I think they might add some horseradish? Crab cocktail and jumbo shrimp cocktail were equally delicious. Professional and Good to deal with. City Fish is in Pike Place where you'll find the other famous Fish Throwing vendor as well...Who I did notice their prices were slightly higher...Anyhow not to digress...It's Copper River Salmon season...and I was at Pike Place and got approximately a pound of the King Fillet of Copper River Salmon and told them I was flying back to LA with this sucker. They vacuum sealed it...they wrapped it with a Frozen Cold Pack and butcher paper wrapped it...and finally tied it in another plastic bag... Definitely if you want fresh fish, great service and a group that makes sure you are going to have good quality fish coming to you...this is the place to go! read more

Having a seafood loving wife, this was on the must stop places for our Pike Place visit. I love the fact that you have something for everyone here- the normal fish/seafood that you might buy to bring home, or smaller portions that you can have as a snack or a meal on the spot. We ended up getting oyster shooters (3 for $6) and some salmon sashimi. They also had some HUGE shrimp that looked pretty good too, but one can only eat so much! The oysters were nice and smooth and you could tell that the salmon was really fresh with a great texture and nice buttery taste. Would love to come back next time I'm at Pike Place to try some of the other stuff. Only downsides are that it can be tough to find a place to sit and eat your food and it is pricey, which I suppose I should expect with this being seafood and at Pike Place. read more

None of the descriptions on how to find this establishment helped, or we couldn't find one when I looked through the countless, rad reviews. We stopped by City Fish the day before Mothers day. The Market was packed. With a baby in the baby sling, we wanted to get out of there with the goods ASAP. Pike Place Market Fish was out of the question. Just to get someone to acknowledge the fact that i want to actually buy something rather than stand there with the tourist will take more effort than getting a beater VW Bug fixed at a BMW dealership. So down the busy corridor we went, eye level camera flashes, and getting whipped in the face with freshly cut flowers by people who have no regard to people around them. Then we get to City Fish. Loud and proud guy caught our attention. We see cups of seafood goodness, crab, ahi poke, and shrimp. We tried the crab, and we loved it! Even the baby was signaling for more. The guys working the front were very courteous and were quick to get our order, and were out of there in record timing! Thanks guys for making our experience at City Fish a pleasant one. I bought an 8 oz carton of poke expecting fresh fish and a well-balanced dressing/marinade. What I received was not fresh, not prepared well, and definitely not well balanced in terms of ingredient proportions and flavor profile. Discoloration of the fish was not due to exposure to the other ingredients but most likely to oxidation and lack of freshness. The fish and other ingredients were chopped haphazardly with large strips of onion, small bits and all sizes in between. Other ingredients were also cut unevenly. I ate some of it, and hope that it does not cause food poisoning. I am disposing of more than half of the carton. A waste of money at best and a public health hazard at worst! I urge caution for customers in purchasing prepared food from this vendor. read more

As a local I still like to shop at Pikes Place for some seafood, veggies, fruit, etc. Most vendors are great however this location is hands down the worst. The rudest most unhelpful staff who lost my business for being straight jerks. I generally am fair in my reviews and try to keep a perspective above my experience but the employee we worked with here was just a straight ass. Easy question asked to them: "do you have a recommended way to prepare these oysters?" Tall, maybe low 30s aged man, answered in a totally snarky tone "if you like them cooked, cook them. I didn't actually make a purchase... I intended to. Here's what happened: I walk up to the stand because it is the closest fish stall to where I parked. The out-in-front guy is helping someone else. Okay, that's cool. Everything looks really good but I'm there for one thing: salmon steaks. No one else is waiting to be helped. I'm standing right in front of the case, trying to make eye contact with anybody, anyone... 30 seconds, maybe a minute goes by, but no acknowledgment. There are three people working the counter and none of them appears interested in helping me. It also appears the lady being helped does not really know what she wants. Looks like I might be standing here for awhile. I consider taking out a twenty and waving it around but decide that would be tacky. I start to look at the prices. $15/lb. for plain old salmon, $30/ lb. for King salmon. Holy moly! $15 is okay, but... not what I would call "competitive," a word some other reviewers have used. I'm trying to figure out why so much? Suddenly it occurs to me that City Fish is probably angling for the the tourists from Podunksville, Ohio--where you can't even get fresh trout in the stores--who are determined to impress their neighbors/in-laws/selves by shipping back a real authentic Pacific Northwest salmon® back home at any cost. (Later I go to the website and, sure enough, it's all about shipping large hunks of seafood overnight for not very good prices. My favorite was the "Fill your Freezer" package. Why would you pay a premium for fresh seafood then freeze it?! After generously being provided by the mongers with an uninterrupted minute to ponder whether I was about to overpay, I packed up my wallet and headed over to my local Safeway, where I got a beautiful looking piece of fresh Copper River Salmon for $10/lb. read more

I love these guys! I always try to hit Pikes Place Market on my last day visiting Seattle so I have dinner that night. This is one of my stops to grab so of the best and more fresh fish or crab around. The service is amazing too - these guys also ask if you are travelling. Each time they have packed my fish or crab on ice guaranteeing it will be fine. I drove to Portland no sweat, with stops along the way and did not refrigerate it or anything...so practically an entire day went by. When I upwrapped for dinner the ice was barely even melted!!!! I want to kick myself for spending $18 on jumbo shrimp here when it comes from Baja Mexico. I don't think shrimp from Mexico is worth that price. I naively assumed it was caught right outside the harbor, but after I purchased it I thought to ask for the heck of it and thought he was going to confirm my confidence in it being fresh and local. I'll say that this is a 4.5 for me. The City Fish Market is located in the heart of the Pike Place Market and it definitely does attract a lot of attention. Especially with that rock fish with the stunna shades staring me down. Not only do they sell fresh seafood, they also offer some on-the-go treats that you can grab and eat while you wander around. I absolutely love oysters and seeing that I was in Seattle, I figured this would be a great place to satiate my feelings. They had three FATTY oysters for $5 so there was no way I was turning that down. I came back AT LEAST three times. My girlfriend and I split the treat one for her, two for me, and these bad boys were fresh. It comes in a little cup with some cocktail sauce, a lemon wedge, and a spork. There's a little station to the side where you can douse your oyster in Tabasco; as I did. The oysters were spectacular! If you're ever in the Market and you're an oyster lover, I definitely recommending making a stop. They do offer crab and shrimp as well, but it wasn't really anything that blew me away. I definitely prefer to shop here or at Pure Food Fish when I'm at the market to avoid the absolute chaos and tourist that surrounds Pike Place Fish (don't get me wrong though, they have delicious smoked salmon there!). I had a serious hankering for Dungeness crab (the best crab money can buy...in my opinion). City Fish Market was there with a fix for my Dungeness jones. CFM sells a Dungeness Crab Cocktail, a heaping cupful of crab meat topped with cocktail sauce for $9. Truth be told, I would've gladly passed on the cocktail sauce since it only got in the way of the sweet tasting crab meat. If we didn't already have lunch plans for later in the day, I would've/could've eaten crab cocktail after crab cocktail. We also split the 3 for $5 Oyster Shooters consisting of three huge Quilcene Oysters mixed with a bit of lemon juice and cocktail sauce that was larger than any shooter, oyster or alcohol, that I've ever gulped! It was a fresh, mildly sweet, and briny goodness in a cup! Both Dungeness Crab Cocktail and Oyster Shooters were bargains. City Fish Market in Pike Place Market doesn't attract huge crowds of tourists. Its fish doesn't fly through the air like a Cirque du Soleil show. Who cares? City Fish Market's seafood is fresh. This really, and truly is a great place, but its one of the rare places in Seattle that will get a 4 star from me. The fish was fresh, the oyster shooters were outstanding! What really knocks a star off for me is how one of the staff treated my partner and me compared to the rest of the staff. We went to the front to ask for shooters, the person there kindly told us to go our to the side to get inquire and someone would be there to help. No problem, that was super nice. The guy around the corner was also super nice, even informed us there was an extra 50 cents for the credit machine below a certain amount, no problem. Then when we were done with the shooter, another guy was over and we asked, "do you have a trash back there?" this person, I hope not the manager, yelled at us, "NO THE TRASH IS OUT THERE WE CANT TAKE YOUR TRASH." I get it, you are busy, it was a really hot day, probably really slammed, but two other people at your business didn't speak to us, nor anyone else this way, nor any other person at any business we stopped at that day. You don't have to yell at us like we're in NYC, trash policy or not. My first seafood experience at Pike Place Market. Straight forward seafood in cups, exactly what I wanted. I had the oyster shooters and Dungeness crab. Both were worth the money and fresh. I thought the cocktail sauce would kill the flavor of the seafood but it was a good addition. More than average horseradish in the cocktail sauce, I liked the kick. I didn't get any seafood to take home, but it looked good and I'd buy from them. The service was quick and friendly. Until I saw a sign that said "Uni Shot $10 or 2 for $18.88" and laid out in front covered with plastic wrap were giant coconut-sized sea urchins, their tops sliced off showing off the golden, rich lobes of urchin roe.
