    Fresh Seafood

City Fish is located in a narrow and crowded walkway in Pike's Market. A lot of fresh seafood! No fish throwing here (or not when I was here). The guys are friendly and helpful.

If you're looking for fresh seafood that's ready to eat, THIS IS THE PLACE. I ordered the $15 ahi poke, and it was prepared with love! The fish was incredibly fresh, with that perfect buttery texture that made each bite a delight. The marinade was spot on, balancing savory and slightly sweet notes that enhanced the natural flavors of the ahi. It felt like a true taste of the Pacific. The atmosphere at City Fish is vibrant and bustling, which adds to the overall experience of being in Pike Place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making it even better.

City Fish is a hidden gem in Pike Place Market! Their classic Smoked Salmon is the best all around. Melts in your mouth, perfectly seasoned, and fairly priced. If you want great seafood from the *real* Pike Place Market, this is the place for you. And this is coming from someone who lived in Seattle for eleven years and spent 3.5 years working IN the market as a Food Tour Guide. Trust me.

First time in Seattle, wanted to try the Dungeness crab here We ordered the pre-processed Dungeness crab in a cup Taste 0.5/1* Definitely some fresh crab, though not as sweet as expected, the sauce was a good compliment Value 0/1* Plenty of other places for crab just as good Service 1/1* Fast, friendly, no complaint Cleanliness 1/1* It's a fresh seafood stall, as clean as it gets Overall/Revisit 0/1* No reason for another visit Paying for ambience? YES for the hype Above and beyond? +1/+1* The throwing fish was a nice gimmick, and the fact they yelled 'nice tip...oyyy' was a nice experience too

    What will you pick?

Loved this market with fresh everything seafood. Smoked salmon available to take home. The market was clean and the employees were happy to help and answer questions.

Fish I ordered from the city fish market Seattle.

The fish they sell online is not good quality, and my last order was totally inedible and they refused a credit., for a refund.

Do not cheat yourself! Visiting this seafood stand is a MUST when you visit Pikes! Ever since our fist visit, I knew anytime I came back to Seattle that this would be a must do. They sell the freshest seafood and will pack it up and ship anywhere in the US! On top of that - they also have fresh seafood for eating. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is always so sweet and succulent. The crab cocktail is even better - the crab is huge lumps and pieces, some of the sweetest crab you will ever have. And I don't know what they do that make their oyster shooters so amazing but they will leave you wanting more.

So let me ask you, Is Ignorance really Bliss? Was Tennyson right? 'Tis better to have love and lost, then never to have loved at all? Gurrrrrl, What is wrong with you? Sigh. I get dramatic a little when I think about my experience here. It was a beautiful day in Pike's Place. Fresh off the plane, I was focused on my pursuit of yumminess and made a beeline to Pike Place Market, luggage and all. I was happily listening to the street performers singing tunes and chompin' on my second salmon pate piroshky which I scored from piroshky piroshky. Suddenly, I remembered that my lovely siblings ate oysters from somewhere at Pike Place Market. They texted me pics months before, happily creating envy in me. They were apparently, "Sooooo goooood" that my lil sis, an oyster-hater, was miraculously converted. Hmmmmmm. Interesting. I, on the other hand, have always loved oysters. Seafood. Love. synonymous. The middle sis texted me saying the location was right across piroshky piroshky at the fish place where they DON'T Throw fish. Found it. "Hi! I'll take three of the oysters shooters please." I wish I could tell you the price, but honestly, It doesn't matter. I would happily pay three times what they asked. It was one of those Pivotal moments in life when the Earth Shifts, and all you thought you knew was suddenly an unequivocal lie. At first TASTE, The Skies Opened up, Rainbows Appeared, Unicorns Frolicked, Fairies Dusted, Dragons Flew, Mermaids Splashed...These Oysters. Oysters of the gods. Oysters from King Neptune Himself. I thought I knew what oysters were supposed to taste like. I didn't. Creamy, Rich, Delicious morsels of Ocean unassumingly dished in a plastic cup with cocktail sauce and lemon. WHAT?!!!! How did I not know? And now that I know, there is no Bliss from the oysters down here. Comparison is bittersweet disappointment. If you love oysters, maybe ignorance IS Bliss. Maybe don't come here. Because now that I know, Maybe 'tis better to never have had them at all.

I typically never write yelp reviews, but I hate being lied to. I asked if they can have the Dungeness crab cooked for me since I was going to eat it here and was told they can and it would take a few . After waiting about 5 minutes was handed over a frozen Dungeness crab despite specially having been promised they could cook it. They told me to take it down to the Chinese restaurant and they would cook it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I could have just gone there to order the crab if that's what I wanted to do. RIDICULOUS. Then the guy subsequently changes his tune and says "it's cooked." It was frozen from display and just wrapped it in paper. IT WAS NOT COOKED. Don't let these guys lie to you it cooked, warm seafood is what you expect. They could have just told me they don't provide that service, instead they just LIED to me straight up

Best uni!!! Better than the oyster shooters in my opinion!
    Maria C.

I visited this place twice when I visited. The first time was for the oyster shooters. Since my last visit, the oyster shooters went up in price but still worth the taste. It is now 3 for $6. The ones on the display case has the lemon wedge and the cocktail sauce. I don't care for the cocktail sauce so I asked for my oysters to be shucked. They were happy to do so! So good! Very meaty and the portion was so generous. The next day I came back and ordered the fresh uni $8. Wow! So fresh and delicious!!! Best uni I've had!!! Large pieces and plentiful. The gentleman also gave me a free sample of fresh smoked salmon. AMAZING!!!

While Pike Place Fish Market gets all the buzz because they throw fish around and they have that ugly monk fish on display, this place holds its own. Foot traffic inside Pike stalls here since everyone is looking at their seafood and all the food they offer as well. They have Uni Shots, Oyster Shots, Crab and Shrimp Cocktails, Salmon Jerky and Salmon Sticks. However, the best item here was their Poke! They sell both Tuna and Octopus (Tako) Poke and they are both amazing. It is a little on the spicy side, but who doesn't like that kick! I also tried their Uni and Oyster shots and they were pretty good. I was bummed they didnt have Uni on the shell but whatever. Check In on Yelp and get a free oyster shot!

Crab cocktail and an oyster shooter
    Doris W.

I love love seafood. When I saw on Yelp that this place had ready made crab cocktail, sashimi, and oyster shooters I had to find the place and try all the above! Pike Place is definitely overwhelming when you are looking for a particular stand. First time around, we almost gave up looking because one seafood stand looks the same as the next. But we found it! Location: I'm bad at describing location so bear with me.... it's kinda right smack in the middle of the main drag. It's not near the statue of the pig. From what I remember right out front of the street is an apple cider tent, but not sure if that's always there. If you look across the street there's the piano man. There, that's the best I can do in describing the location of the stand lol. We ordered: - uni in a cup (ate it with lemon and soy sauce... so good!) - oyster shooters (ate it with lemon and cocktail sauce.... so big and so goooood!) - salmon sashimi (I thought it was a lil pricey but it was sooo worth it) - crab cocktail (the item I was looking forward to the most, def did not dissapoint!) Price wise, I can't remember everything is estimated, I'd say uni was closer to $5, shooters $2.50, salmon, $12.00, crab cocktail $10?..... If I lived here, I'd buy fresh seafood from them to bring home to cook on the reg! I'd probably go broke lol. Friendly guys who work there as well! Writing this makes me want some right now lol.

I ate some shrimp already because I got too excited but here is the $20 shrimp cocktail worth every penny. So juicy and fresh

But the lunch omakase special is what I really wanted I think. But even so. The poke bowl was mixed. I have to unfortunately knock off the stars/taste because the rice I got was literally the worst rice I've ever had touching raw fish. The rice was like hard and stale. I even had a clump that looked like it was the burnt part from leaving it on the cooker for too long and it couldn't bite it. I know this place is for the fish, but there's a bare minimum expectation on rice quality. And the fish itself was good? Maybe cuz it's the poke and not the omakase (so mixed chopped pieces) but there were pieces that tasted super fresh and delicious and then there were pieces that had so much tendon I couldn't bite through it. The folks there were super nice and friendly especially since I had no idea what to order. Just wish I was more delighted by the meal, especially cuz it was like $18 poke bowl. I'll give it another try with hopes it's better next time.

What immediately caught our attention (for obvious reasons) was the bold sign: LIVE KING CRAB. We walked in and were instantly impressed. Large water tanks filled with live Dungeness crab and live king crab, crystal-clear water, and absolutely no fishy smell--always an excellent sign. The space feels more like a clean, well-run warehouse set up for both wholesale and retail, not a typical seafood market. A gentleman working there quickly came over and started chatting with us about crab. Super knowledgeable and friendly. They offer a wide selection: live, fresh, and frozen crab, Japanese scallops, fish, and a variety of shellfish. We considered the live king crab, but it was honestly too big for the two of us to handle in a hotel kitchen--and definitely would've been a splurge. So, plan B: I called my sister-in-law to see if she'd like some frozen king crab legs. She said yes immediately. The gentleman showed us the frozen options, and the king crab legs were long, meaty, and impressive--similar in size to what Costco carries, but priced better. We ended up negotiating a great deal and purchased a box of their Party Pack King Jumbo Crab Legs for her. Later that evening, she surprised her daughter with a king crab birthday dinner, and they reported the legs were super meaty and absolutely delicious. Safe to say, we'll definitely keep Seattle Seafood Center in mind for future seafood splurges. If you love high-quality seafood and especially crab, this place is worth a stop--even if it's an unplanned one.
