I could really get into this place if only.....Inside is nice and you'd never know from the outside. Server was attentive and friendly. The food was just okay, but seems to have potential with a few tweaks. Gorgonzola cheese was somehow replaced with blue cheese?? Hamburger bun should be grilled maybe? There was lots of bacon on the burger. Sliders were good but need toppings suited to the meat. Pasta salad was a nice touch actually. Tasty fries but arrived cold. Came here because the wait at the restaurant we were intending to go to was long. Seat yourself place. Very loud music. Waited for a table to be clean, and it was 15 minutes before someone came to take a drink order. To be fair, the waitstaff was running, clearly busy. We each got a cocktail. My husband's spicy pineapple marg was good. My strawberry spritzer was bitter and flavorless. The short rib nachos were amazing. So flavorful and a great combination of ingredients. Slider trio was just okay per my husband. I'm told the pulled pork had a strange sweet flavor. My burger was incredibly disappointing, it was not seasoned...at all. I stopped in at City Hall Pub (former Cheddar & Rye) on Hanover Street in Downtown Manchester recently on a quiet weeknight. The place wasn't too busy. This pub has a full service bar with seating offering 12 beers on tap and cocktails and mixed drinks. The food menu offers burgers, sandwiches, paninis, pretzels, soups, chili, salads, bruschetta,band spinach & queso dip. They offer Happy Hour specials 4-7pm on Mon-Fri. There are 2 TVs at the bar and 2 more TVs in the seating area with booths and tables. Classic rock was playing over the speakers.  I sat up at the bar to watch the Celtics game on TV. I ordered the Pulled Pork Burger ($15 plus tax) with a side of pasta salad. The burger came out in about 15 minutes after placing my order.  The thick burger was served open face and had a firm grilled ground beef patty to my liking with melted orange cheddar cheese, thick bacon strips, soft BBQ pulled pork, on a toasted onion roll, pickle chips on the side. The chilled pasta salad had soft pasta with carrots, red onions, red peppers in a zesty Italian dressing base.  As I was eating, the other patrons were chatting with the bartender about the kinds of liquor stocked at the bar including the scotch and whiskeys served here. I was here for the food strictly.  After I was done, I requested the check which was $16.28 with tax and before tip. Overall, the pulled pork burger was good and filling to eat with the pasta salad. I would probably get the City Hall Burger on a pretzel bun with cole slaw on the side on my next visit. The patron next to me ordered it, which looked great. Stopped in before a show at The Palace. What a treat! We didn't order food, but we got hot chocolates for the kids, a dirty chai latte, and an Irish coffee. The drinks were incredible. Excellent baristas, super friendly staff. I wish we had discovered this place sooner. We will definitely be back, my new favorite spot for hot drinks and a bar in Manchester! read more

The level of service is what made me vote 5 stars. The food is more like 4 stars, but still very, very good. On a Saturday afternoon around 4:30pm, we were told we could seat ourselves. There were 4 bartenders running the entire restaurant. We had a great experience with a gentleman who had just moved here from Tampa, FL (originally from Brooklyn, NY). I can't remember if he said his name was Oscar? Either way, he was super chill & came around often to check on us. We were waiting for a party of 4 & he was sure to bring us all waters. I had the Thai Soy Chicken Wrap with the cucumber salad. I liked that they offered healthier sides instead of defaulting to fries or chips. The wrap was okay; could have had a juicier piece of chicken in my opinion. My husband had the City Hall Pub Burger & was able to easily substitute the pretzel bun for sourdough bread. Our friend had the Bruschetta app as a meal, which was well-presented & tasty. I would LOVE to return & order a burger. The mixed cocktails are average prices of $11-$13. The Blueberry Lemon Drop martini is tasty & sweet. Note that the bathrooms are single toilets only, no stalls. read more

Had a great time here with my party of 6! The espresso martinis were amazing, we got some with baileys and some regular, both great! I was impressed by the flavor and size of the nachos. We also got the hummus plate that was delicious! The appetizers were enough to split between the 6 of us. The service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely be coming back! read more

A 5 star burger! I'm not quite sure why it's so good. Pretzel bun, thick patty, tomato lettuce cheese, excellent flavor combo. Read the reviews and thought perfect for me. Sadly I was disappointed. I got a burger which seemed to be to be a pre pressed patty without a lot of flavor or juice. Made me think it was a standard food service burger, pre-made, pressed out of liquid and probably kept frozen. The chili was equally unimpressive. We immediately enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe. Got our drink and ordered an appetizer, which was very good and delivered timely. After we ordered our meal, we waited an hour for our food. Underwhelming. The Gorgonzola burger was served with blue cheese instead - to someone who dislikes blue cheese. The veggie wrap was so dry it was inedible. I've lived in Manchester for 30 years, and I've never been so impressed or felt more welcome than I did here. Being a blue collar guy who makes decent money working 60 hours a week it's hard to find a place that feels down to earth but also not so annoying by the 20 somethings who just want to get drunk. Think a nice whisky bar with good eats and salt of the earth clientele. Down to earth, and the wood highlights makes this place ideal for watching a game or just having a relaxed night out from the kids. I had no idea this place existed, which is crazy because I live on Elm. I was out to dinner with a friend and happened to drive by looking for a laid back place to have a nightcap. This place exceeded all expectations. I've honestly never had a smoother old fashioned, and that's high praise since I love Citizen Public House in Boston.
