So the Jamaican beef patties here are some of my favorite things ever. Highly recommend. Definitely look into the Jamaican portion of their menu. I have eaten here about 3x...the first time I was pretty impressed because it was a hidden treasure trove of Jamaican food. No one really expects a pub to serve up anything but bar food. The second time I ate here, the experience was a complete mess and our server was absolutely clueless. That's when I discovered the food is pretty inconsistent and it definitely depends on who the chef is. The third time I ordered just the fritters and a beef patty and everything was delicious. The first time I was here, I came in for lunch with a group of friends. We were one of two groups in the entire pub. We heard through the grapevine that The Pint had some pretty decently seasoned Jamaican food so we had to try it for ourselves. I actually opted for their 50 cent grilled wings because I couldn't pass a deal like that up. Their wings were grilled perfectly. I opted for 3 different flavors: Carolina Reaper, mango habanero, and jerk. The Carolina Reaper was not as spicy as I was hoping because the name "Carolina Reaper" typically strikes fear as it is the hottest pepper - the flavor was good though. The mango habanero was solid but the jerk flavor was totally lost on me. I think the jerk seasoning was lost during the grilling process. The food came out pretty slow though for there being only two groups in the entire pub. Overall, I got 10 wings for $5 and couldn't complain which meant I was definitely coming back. My friends who ordered actual Jamaican dishes such as the curry chicken and chicken jerk dinner really enjoyed their entrees. My second visit, my group of friends decided to grab beers during happy hour and munch on some grub. Got a Stella Artois for about $3? They gave us a list of specials that were not even relevant. I tried to order off the list of specials and the waitress said they were only honoring the specials if an NFL game is on. Ok well next time let us know ahead of time when you give us the menus. I ordered wings again but the waitress absolutely had no clue how many wings came with each order or what flavors were available. She was a complete mess in bringing out our food and our bill. The wings were much smaller this time around and not as good...very subpar wings. Lesson learned, only eat here when the place is nearly empty. Otherwise, just come for drinks. Third visit: my group of friends and I were practically the only table in the entire restaurant. This was good for us because it meant it was safe to order food. While the Jamaican food is great, it takes awhile for the food to come out. Tried the fritters and beef patty this time and enjoyed my entire meal. read more

Only good thing about this place, they stay open late and dont harass you too much when its last call. Problem is, its not worth staying there for a drink... For a place that calls itself "the pint" its almost impossible to get a drinkable beer there. I'm talking over the course of the past few years, not a one time thing. I mean any beer on tap tastes sour and rancid, and if that wasn't the worst part, every beer on tap that I have tried is almost always at room temperature. So I figured ill just drink canned/bottle beer when there. Well it was cold-er, but again even the bottled beer tastes like it had been sitting in a hot room for 4 months and started to spoil. I'm really not that picky. Ill drink an expired or even a warm beer, but I've tried about 7 different beers here and I couldn't even finish a single one. Just too damn gross, especially when the price is a "mystery" and usually end up being about $5 for a 12oz light beer. I don't trust the place so I pay cash. When I ask a bartended how much I owe for the beer, which they seem so shocked by the premise of telling me the cost before I pay... they spend 5 minutes looking around and then just throw you a random price. 5 minutes later ill go to another bartender, and its a totally different price. They make it up as they go. read more

Literally ordered for the first time and got BAD food, literally looks old, stale old fries with no salt, so pure old potato, and then meat doused in juice that smells rotten, like what on earth is this, and now we cant even call the number for a refund!! dont buy here read more

We stopped by The Pint for dinner on a busy weeknight. The place was almost filled up and the atmosphere was a bit noisy. We sat up at the bar and the bartender promptly took our drink orders and gave us menus. This pub offers 20 beers on tap and over 30 bottled beers, plus cocktails and non alcoholic drinks too. The food menu consists of sandwiches, paninis, burgers, salads, flatbread pizzas, appetizers, and several dinner entrees with Jamaican flair. Specials are posted near the front entrance. For a starter, we got the Pine Island Pretzel Sticks ($2), 4 hot soft baked pretzel sticks (not salted) served with hot garlic butter for dipping. We also requested Grey Poupon for some kick. Very good! For dinner, the Port Royal Platter ($13.25), a generous plate of baked haddock served on top of Jamaican rice & beans and topped with peppers & onions and brown stew gravy, served with fried plantains and a Port Royal Fritter (cod fish, peppers, onion, garlic & scallions). This dish had spicy and savory flavors. The Caprese Panini with Chicken ($10.50) was pretty decent, which had thick tomato slices, mozzarella, & grilled chicken on grilled soft flatbread, served with one side (chose garlic mashed potatoes). The food overall on this visit was 3.5 stars. Though very busy, the place was fully staffed to handle the crowds. The service at the bar was very attentive. The food was served to us in a timely fashion. The bartender made sure my Diet Coke was kept full and refilled (several times). My buddy enjoyed 2 pints of Guinness with his dinner. Despite the several low star reviews here, we had a pretty darn good experience at The Pint on our initial recent visit. read more

Met up with large group for a late dinner. Our waitress was awesome, and was very accommodating with pulling the tables together to fit everybody. The food on the other hand... Nice presentation, lacking on flavor and quality of product. Too much breading, gristly meat, oily chicken wings, canned tasting gravy -- the list goes on... They also didn't have enough plates and glasses Hopefully our subpar visit, was a fluke. read more

The menu was a seemingly good mix of American food and Jamaican food, but the problem was the noticeable lack of flavor. Rice&beans were bland, Oxtail was blah and slightly overcooked, Plantains were ok, and the kick of flavor from the burger came from a seasoning mix sprinkled on the outside of the burger, but didn't seem present inside of the patty. Maybe had I went there for the vast beer selection, the food would have been better because when you drink and start to get tipsy, all food starts to taste better. The outdoor seating was a plus on this nice, sunny, warm afternoon, but the service was slow, which we were forewarned by the host that service would be faster inside, but who could resist sitting outside on this lovely day. The ONLY reason I'm giving this bar 2 stars is because of the sexist remarks I heard the bartenders make. After a bartender dropped a glass, another male bartender told her to "bend over slowly to clean it up so that she would get good tips." Unfortunately, they pool tips here. The other female bartender we had was amazing. Even if something is considered "casual sports bar" that doesn't mean that female workers should be subjected to these kind of comments. Omg! So we wanted to spend our anniversary without the kids. I was on the hunt for somewhere, and I came across reviews for this place. My husband wanted American food, and I thought the Jamaican sounded good. I was right! I got a chocolate coconut martini, husband just got a beer. The martini was fabulous. We got 6 grilled wings, they were delicious! And for dinner I got jerk chicken, he got the monte cristo. We both got fried plantains for our sides. Literally the best food I think I've had in a long time. Such a bar feel, not a restaurant by any means, but I would 848589294848737% come back. I, and my friend, a vegetarian, have been there twice together (he has been there a couple of times before) in the last month. First time...he ordered dahl and I got an app. of fried plantains and the curry goat with side of roti. Both of us had a couple draft beers. Second time he ordered the red snapper (which I tried and it's real good....a little bony) and I had oxtail stew with butter beans and it was spicy and real good. A little noisy (music), but service is real good and good selection of beer. They have limited menu, but the Jamaican food (wow! on the curry sauce) is very good. The menu was hard to put down with all the decisions. I ended up getting the hot turkey sandwich and it was excellent! The staff was friendly and the music choices had me dancing in my seat. Here at The Pint! I only have a limited experience here, mainly because as we walked in, we started to melt. As we waited for our beers, all of us proceeded to start sweating, and it wasn't from the anticipation of trying their beers. Air is stifling. I can't breathe. I am very, very hard to displease. I am willing to forgive quite a bit. I also really, really want a bar in Manchester with good beer and decent food - a nice, non-club, non-gross bar to hang with friends and enjoy a good drink. Manchester desperately needs this. I was very much rooting for the Pint to be it, and oof, this is not that place. The renovations and atmosphere are spot on, but the rest is just bad. OK, not all bad - the beer selection is decent and would have been great had we (fiance and I) both gotten the beers we ordered. Still, it's hard to screw up beer that's good to begin with. So that was good. I read the first review of this place and thought the temperature was an odd thing to mention. It is not, in fact, an odd thing to mention. It is ridiculously hot in there. It made me not at all in the mood to order anything other than a salad. But, unfortunately, we ordered more than a salad. The caprese "panini" was like a strange, cruel joke. I am all for roti bread, but it is simply not sandwich bread. It immediately disintegrated and left a weird (and unappetizing) mess through the wire basket onto the table. Inedible, even with fork and knife. We were pretty excited for tots, but unfortunately our nice waitress (or the kitchen, who knows) mistook the order for the flatbread with the same ingredients. Since the other main dish we ordered was a flatbread, this turned awkward real fast. The flatbread we actually ordered was pretty good. The other was not. Our waitress did mention that the staff had to do a beer tasting to understand what they're serving. Points for this. I am an irredeemable eavesdropper and heard one party leave after no one came by to take an order and another who were less than happy with the food. When combined with our experience this is not awesome. I can - and have - explained away issues as newly opened jitters. These issues, meaning the food, seem pretty fundamental. Spotty service, temperature - hiccups like those are to be expected. Food that bad is another thing entirely. Two stars for atmosphere and beer selection. read more

Stopped by the pint this past Saturday around 6:45 for dinner and drinks. We noticed this new place last weekend and thought we'd give it a try. Manchester could really use a fun bar/good food spot downtown, plus I read reviews boasting of delicious Jamaican food, so I was pretty excited for something different. We sat at the bar and the service was good; friendly and attentive. They have an above average beer selection with approximately 16 or so drafts. Craft brews and some locals. Also, as previously reviewed, the pint glasses are cute; they look like little cans. But it's not hard to serve beer. The food on the other hand wasn't so great. The menu is a good size, but everything just kind of seemed one note; a lot of meat and cheese. Only a few Jamaican dishes. I got the Kingston Burger; jerk sauce, cheese, a salsa? It came out overcooked, i ordered medium, came out well done. Really lacked any flavor and I didn't notice any of the sauces tje menu mentioned. My g/f got the Jerk Pork Platter. This was super unimpressive: a huge lump of roasted? jerk pork, 7 plantain chips, and some roti bread. The meat was dry, no accompanying sauce, very tough, the roti and plantains were OK, but didn't help the dry & bland dish. Overall, if this place intends to be more than a bar with an OK beer selection, they need to totally rethink their menu or rehire a new cook. This is a hidden gem in my book. Most certainly this place could benefit from some better promotion. They have a wide array of good beer and affordable happy hour offers as well as NFL game specials, which makes for a good spot to chill and watch the game. What makes this a gem however, is the ability to have a wonderful beer and choose from a wide array of good food from many national cuisines. Traditionally American pub food, Indo-Caribbean and my favorite a wide array of Jamaican food. Jerk Chicken (being Jamaican I can attest to its quality and authenticity), oxtail, curry chicken and curry goat! You can get a nice side of friend plantains (even though I wish they would slice them ) or rice and beans which are very delicious. The pub sets the ambiance with some nice reggae music, which makes for a good dining and chilling vibe with friends! read more

Second trip to the Pint and I have yet to be disappointed. The pint is a new restaurant and like most new restaurants there are some issues that need to be addressed and I'm sure that opening day quirks of issues of service, temperature and food prep as elaborated by my previous reviewers will be taken care of. That's why I don't put much relevance into writing reviews on new restaurants, I give them an opportunity to prove their worth, then and only then will I write a "meaningful" review that I think worthy, My gut feeling is that based on their unique menu, reasonable prices and an over the top craft beer selection, The Pint Publik House will be one of those restaurants. It's obvious, you certainly can't please everyone but I think in the long run The Pint Publik House will do just that. Give them a chance......you'll see. read more

This is a great place. If you like the Chive, get the KCCO beer here! Only place in town! They are prepping for live music and have their food out in the open to see just how well it is prepared. If I could give 0 stars I would. Such a disappointment. The worst "Jamaican" food I've tasted. The oxtail I ordered, which was 98% bones, was sitting in water (what was supposed to be gravy) and the plantains were so undercooked. If you don't know how to properly prepare a Jamaican dish, please don't. Not worth the $20+ and certainly won't be ordering here again. read more

I walked in to meet my friends, and I get got a nice hello from the waitress which was nice but that was the only recognition I got for the first 25 minutes I was there. I made it so obvious that I wanted to be served by standing at the bar, credit card in hand and still nothing. Finally the nice bartender recognized that I didn't have a drink and served me one in this glass that looks like something I drank out of when I was 10 years old. This place is called the pint, serve drinks in legit pint glasses! No brainer! When I cashed out the waitress did it on my friends card and not mine. She appeared to be drunk. This place is awful. Good beer selection and good food. Great spot for casual dinner or drink and nice spot for people watching outside. Only downfall is people can smoke outside, so more than once we've been eating and get the smokers upwind. Get the Westside tots - it's like tator tot poutine - it's DELISH!!!! read more

Great first experience! Waitress was new but she was very friendly, personable and attentive. We sat at the front near the entry. Nice decor all around and comfortable seating. We got a large order of Cajun wings and buffalo wings. I'm normally a buffalo wings girl but the heat of the Cajun drew me in. It seemed as though they fried it and grilled it which locked in the crispness and flavor. Highly recommend the Cajun. We then split an order of the steak tips. When it was deliver it came with wonderfully seasoned veggies and fries but sadly we ordered our steak medium rare but they came well done. No problem though because once I told the waitress she threw in a new order. She apologized but it was fine with us as we were sipping on or pints of Sam summer and still had a couple of wings to munch on. We will definitely return. read more

I have been there three times now since they have opened and it has been a great experience every time. The staff is so friendly and attentive!! I have had the good twice and have not been let down. The Monte Cristo sandwich is out of this world. It was so filling I couldn't even finish it!! They make it with all fresh homemade ingredients and then....DEEP FRY IT!!! Outstanding idea executed to perfection! I would suggest anyone to try their tater tots as well. The atmosphere is good, they have TVs for sporting events? We have been going to The Pint for a couple of years fairly regularly. The food used to be very good and consistent. The last two times we went, I couldn't even eat it. Two weeks ago the chicken wings were too charred to eat and overdone and today we ordered the buffalo chicken tots which had entirely too much blue cheese that overpowered the dish. I've had both in the past and were much better. I do enjoy the drink specials and service is typically good. I'll give the food one more chance before banning them permanently as I must have a bite to eat with my beverages. read more

I agree with the service being slow and awful reviews, I sat at the bar and waited over 5 minutes before I was even addressed while the bartender sat chatting with regulars. When I looked behind me at the open kitchen, I saw chicken bones on the floor of the restaurant and staff was walking by and ignoring them. I drank a beer and left and can't imagine what goes on in the kitchen if they don't even care about garbage laying around on the open floor of the place. I'll not be back to find out. read more

We were going to try the new chinese restaurant Jade, but walked over and saw a good crowd so we tried this place. The place was close to filled with a mix of old and young, it was really loud. Not sure if the sound bounces off the brick walls or its just a tight space. The kitchen is open which isnt that impressive. Good amount of tv's with the sox on. The decor was nicely done with a boston pub feel. We ordered the fried green beans, which actually tasted ok but the breading fell off half the beans which looked like they came out of a can. The steak tips filled the plate but not the palate, very dry with little flavor ...had to use A1 which is sad. Also had 2 drinks a mixed drink and a beer, nothing special especially for $7 each. Overall it's fun to try new places, but won't be back considering there are so many places in manch. But try it for yourself you may like it. read more

Rather Poor customer service. The place seemed a little seedy, and if you have a groupon to this place be weary! Nothing about it seemed all that great except for the alcohol selection. Nothing about this place seemed that great at all. The service was horrible, the food was blah and unless you were ordering a beer their bartender couldn't make a mix drink to save his life. On top of that apparently you need to be careful about what seat you're using there too.
