I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I would avoid going to this place. I wanted to find some cute christmas light/decorations about a month or two ago. When I first parked in the parking lot, a person from the store ran out and yelled at me that I was not allowed to park in their parking lot, that it was for customers only, and I told him "yah I am shopping here", so that was awkward. When i did walk in, I got nothing but creepy vibes. It was just me and the one worker (who yelled at me earlier) there. They did have some cute items, but overpriced! I'll just say that I didn't buy anything. The whole experience was sadly a waste of my time and energy. read more

I do love City Lights, although the price tags hurt :). Store is jam packed with literally any Christmas item you can imagine...and some Halloween ones too! Great selection of artificial trees...if you are willing to wait until January you can find some good deals on "last years stock." Only downfall is it's often difficult to find someone to pull items from back stock for you. But generally staff is friendly. read more

This would be my first time visiting the store while entering. It was overwhelming on the items they have displayed, but that was just the beginning. There's a whole lot of other decorations. To the left there's ornaments to the right there's little towns and at the back they have Halloween items, and they also have outdoor decor. I was there for a couple hours and staff always checked on us if we needed any assistance but when it came to purchasing my items, the cashier young female, no eye contact and no greeting after we checked out, instead of saying have a good day for something positive that way shows next in line yeah that whole experience of entering the store being overwhelmed and happy just flew out the window read more

I have mixed feelings about this place The good: 1. Much larger than it appears from the outside. 2. Huge selection of ornaments and Christmas Village Figures. 3. Friendly staff (the cashiers did argue over who would help me but not in a mean spirited way). 4. Organized 5. Wide variety The not so great: 1. I was hoping for stockings, wreaths, runners, garlands and other indoor decor and outside decor. They had three stockings and very limited outdoor decor. 2. There were two displays of pride decor. There were some tasteful options but a good portion of it featured figures in BDSM. Wow where has this place been all my life! With the holiday weekend, it was the perfect time to get new Christmas decorations. They have sooo many Christmas decorations for so many different styles! This is a year round Christmas store located off Morena Blvd/Tecolote Rd and right across from Coronado Brewing. Parking is pretty limited, so I would suggest getting here near open or going during the week to avoid waiting for/finding parking. My husband and I recently came here on Sunday (12/4) and were lucky enough to get a parking spot right in front, so sometimes it's just timing/luck! City Lights carries a lot of different Christmas decorations in all sorts of styles and genres. They have ornaments, nutcrackers, figurines, Christmas towns, lights, artificial trees, outdoor accessories, and etc. The styles range from classic to modern, and there's almost something for any Christmas decorator. The prices range from $-$$$ and is dependent on what you're looking for. Because there's such a huge variety of merchandise, you'll see signs posted/hung all over that note to ask for assistance if you want something on display and to not touch. Please be mindful of any little ones you bring to avoid any accidents! When we were here on Sunday we only ended up buying some new lights for our tree, but the worker assisting us was very helpful and knowledgeable. He asked us what type and size of tree we were looking to cover before explaining the differences between the types of lights and what would be best for our needs. We were able to pick out a set of LED string lights that had a timer and 8 different modes for both warm white and color lights. We just decorated our tree tonight and we're extremely happy with them! Whenever we come here, we always explore the entire store as there's definitely a lot to look at and browse through. The store could use with some deep cleaning and updates, but otherwise it's still a great place to start or add to your Christmas collections. There's also a small Halloween area in the back of the store, so don't forget to check that out because it has a pretty cute set up and some great decorations. Check out can take some time as the staff are older and seem to be keeping up with technology, so please bear with them! They're doing their best and they're always friendly when we come here. Overall, this store is one of our stops during the holiday season because you never know what you're going to find. We love visiting this place every year and I highly recommend checking this place out if you're huge on Christmas! read more

I love this place! It's a large, year round Christmas super store. From trees to ornaments to holiday decor, I always find what I need. I'm especially happy that they carry Kurt Adler Hollywood Nutcrackers. I'm a dedicated collector of these lovely things, and City Lights has lots of them. If you're into Halloween, they do have a big selection of Halloween decor too (not my favorite holiday, but to each his own) . I had great customer service from the owner, I believe he was... I know sometimes rules are bent in customer service specially if it's your first time... I come with an online coupon that apparently was not accurate or real. Anyways I was there for a couple of hours carefully picking beautiful ornaments. Ended up expending close to $400 dollars I was expecting a 10% discount. To be turned around by the clerk at the register. I decided to call back and make management aware. This is a collectors paradise. I was overwhelmed and enjoyed seeing the gorgeous Radko ornament section and Jim Shore sections. I just purchased my 3rd permanent tree from them, a Barcana. When it comes to permanent trees, they have a very knowledgeable staff to assist. I am not replacing my tree, adding to the collection. CAUTION! I went to City Lights to buy some Xmas deco, I noticed that they don't put prices on a lot of stuff and you have to ask many times to get prices. I bought a Garland for my mantel and I was told it was $64 when I went to pay for it I had to pay $75 I told them that I was quoted $64 but I guess nobody was listening. I bought it anyway since I did like it but not putting prices on items is bad for business. read more

I have shopped here for years but sadly won't be returning. I visited a couple of weeks before Christmas and made a rather large purchase. When I got home I noticed on the receipt that I was charged for an item that I did not want and did not come home with. I drove all the way back a couple days later and explained to the sales clerk, who then got the owner/manager? to come out and speak with me. He seemed kind enough but he basically told me that there was no way I could have been charged for an item that I did not receive - that the cash register won't allow for mistakes. (????????) He said the item must have fallen out in my car or somewhere else. WTH? Since the overcharge amount was only around $25, I decided to let it go since I was clearly getting no where with this gentleman helping me. I also noticed that the store seemed very tired and crowded this year. With so many options to purchase Christmas collectibles elsewhere with much nicer shopping experiences, I will shop elsewhere from now on. read more

Eight nice employees and one grouchy old guy! My granddaughter picked up something to look at, he snatched it out of her hand, saying "NOT a good idea!" and walked off. She's young, yet very gentle with things. If she were to break it, we would have paid, as there are signs all over the store stating this rule. I do know that stores have insurance for breakage. While we were in the store, there was something broken...by an adult. If it weren't for the other friendly employees, we would have left and resorted to buying from Amazon. My daughter and I went here for the first time on Saturday. They have quite a variety of items and nicely displayed. This place is huge but it's set up weird so you can easily miss entire sections thinking they lead to a storage room. The staff was very helpful and they had plenty of cashiers. There were a few places where they had tins with greenery on the floor that kept falling over and blocking the isle (safety issue - tripping). And PARENTS, DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS! The entire time we heard "don't touch, look with your eyes not with your hands, if you don't behave we're going to have to leave, what did I say, etc." It's mean to bring a child to a place light this and expect them not no be curious. It's not a store for children. Overall we loved it and love the items we purchased and plan on returning. I would probably not buy anything here with any thought of possibly returning it due to a lot of the reviews. Which means anything that is very, very expensive, I'd buy elsewhere in case it stopped working or it had issues. The check out line was quick and our clerk was very friendly. We had to leave the line originally because the lady that was going to help us was coughing a lot. We just waited and came back when she was busy. We felt so bad but it's flu season and the flu takes me down too hard and for too long. We plan on returning to pick up some more items. read more

Christmas lighting and more. This is a one stop shop. It's a bit overly pricy but they have nice stuff. The staff is friendly and helpful but they do have a no refund policy. Read The Signs. If you come here plan on spending some extra time sightseeing as there is a lot of cool stuff to see. Not a great place for kids as if they break anything you will be charged. I'll start off with the good. I visited the store a couple years ago and they had no black Santas or angels. I think I Yelped about it in a Tip. I'm happy to report they have remedied that issue. It's not much. But it's something. See attached photo. Another positive--overall inventory is good. Now for the bad. Customer service is TERRIBLE. No one is helpful. There is one person that does the embroidery and it took forever to find her. And many of the stockings were out of stock. It's almost as if the stockings are an afterthought that will soon no longer be offered. When we asked about getting a stocking embroidered, we were given very little and/or wrong direction. The stocking we wanted was the last one in stock (which has also happened to us in previous years). And then we had to wait about 15 minutes for the embroidery person to come over. After we got our stocking, we wanted to get some garland or other decoration to hang in the house. We found what we wanted and, of course, when we asked a salesperson for help, she said she didn't usually work in that section so she couldn't help us, but she could try to find someone who might be able to help, but she wasn't sure if he was working. WTF. After waiting for the embroidery, we said, no way. We'll pass. We then tired to purchase one of the black Santa and black angel ornaments now in stock and the line was so long that we said, forget it. And just left. This store is in season for only a few months per year. The least they could do is be well-staffed and well-stocked for these precious few months. Honestly, I hope I never need to go back here again.
