We've been looking forward to this place opening and, of course with the total renovation top to bottom, the place was immaculately clean. Service was courteous, kind, and professional - which was kind of surprising considering the place just opened and the staff must all be pretty new working with each other yet the whole operation seem to run like a well oiled machine. This being Saturday the place was packed and had people waiting for seats, yet they didn't have to wait for long. Seating, services, and food all were prompt and pleasing. The food was fresh, flavorful and delectable - the real deal; no canning here - and the portions HUGE! Certainly a well planned-out establishment which certainly looks as if to be a continuing success for years to come. A great new addition to Worcester's eateries. read more

The good folks at the City Line Diner put out a wonderful product. There are two things which stand out most from our visit this morning, just as the spring of 2022 begins: the corn beef hash - and the clean, modern, airy feel to the place. Let's start with the latter, which you can see in the first photograph. What a logo! The counter as welcoming, even to a youngster as you can see, it almost feels like the breakfast bar in your kitchen more so than a short order counter. By contrast to the Sister's, it's all dudes back there in the kitchen, and no easy way to feast my eyes upon the griddle set-up. No points off for that, the open kitchen is an extra we don't take for granted. Now onto the food. I keep saying I need to have a waffle, or some pancakes, or at least French toast at one of these places; and then when the chips are down, it's back to two over medium and some carbohydrates. You can see my meal below first, after I had scraped half the corn beef hash onto my son's plate, and then his delicious meal,a western omelette. Now this corn beef hash is absolutely to die for! It's a little bit softer than the norm, fragrant, we did Pequot, and utterly delicious. If you wanna visualize my place by the time the meal was over, stroll over to your cabinet and grab a clean one. And in a diner first for us, my second born was unable to clear his meal! I'm sure as of this writing it is now gone, the latter half of the omelette having come back with us to his dorm, and that's a testament to the healthy portion size. Final thought: don't get there at 10:45 AM, you'll be jammed in the entryway waiting for a table. Do yourself a favor, show up on the early side, treat your eyes and your belly to some great delicious stuff. By my account at this point we've only got two more diners to work our way through in Worcester, can't wait! read more

Great local spot. My husband had an unexpected day off so we went out for a mid week breakfast. This place is an old Friendly's so I was pleasantly surprised with how great the inside looked when we entered. They did a great job converting it. I ordered the country fried steak & biscuits. It was tasty and flavorful. I had asked to just get biscuits and gravy and leave out the country fried steak but our waitress told us they couldn't make it that way? A little odd that they couldn't accommodate that request but not the end of the world. The gravy wasn't the best I've ever had but not bad, could have just used a thinner consistency. My son got some pancakes which was massive. He really enjoyed them. My husband got the chicken and waffles and while I didn't try it, he said it was great. Overall a great spot we would return to. I'm a sucker for a good Bloody Mary or mimosa, but they don't serve alcohol so that's something I would keep in mind if you're looking for that type of breakfast/brunch experience but otherwise it's worth the visit! read more

Been there three times now for breakfast (like to go there a few times before I write a review). This way I can make sure their consistent. The food and service is excellent. I ordered breakfast with hash browns and got home fries by mistake. The waitress wanted to correct the mistake and I told her not to bother. Came here on a Sunday morning and for sure it was super busy. Besides the wait everything was wonderful. Staff or super nice and sometime during our meal someone came to check up on us and made sure we enjoyed our food and service. I ordered the steak tips and my husband had an omelet. Solid spot for breakfast/brunch! Love that they took over the old Friendly's as we, in this neighborhood, have been needing something new there for a longgg while. They renovated the entire layout of the restaurant, it's nice, modern, and clean-looking with lots of open space. The service was commendable, with managers checking on you making sure you're enjoying your entire experience throughout and servers being quick on their feet. Portions are enormous and the quality of the food is high up there, if not gourmet. We had the Eggs Benedict which was so delicious, hollandaise sauce just perfect on that soft English Muffin and home fries. The Fried Chicken and Waffle was excellent, perfectly crunchy and tender, happy to know where to get some now. And of course (huge) pancakes, while delicious, wasn't outstanding. I come here often on monday mornings with the boyfriend after a jog, here always gets the Irish eggs while I get something different every time. The food was fine. Nothing special but it wasn't bad. Portions were OK. We live in the area, third or fourth time we'd been there. My daughter ate half of her dish when she found a bag hair cooked into the french toast. She look like she was going to throw up right then. We informed service. They chose to do nothing. Out of the six of us our favorite was the Cinnabon French toast! 4 huge fluffy pieces - tasted just like Cinnabon's - no syrup necessary! .Also highly recommend the Chocolate Milk! Best diner in Worcester in my opinion. It's my go to breakfast place. Great food. Great service. I always get the Irishman which includes homemade corn beef hash. We also always get the waffles with strawberries and whip cream. Highly recommend. I've been going there a few years and they never disappoint. I always get takeout but always busy there. read more

Perfect diner experience! Cozy space, great service, wonderful food (we went for omelettes, I chose the oat bread.... all delicius!!), good coffee...... everything you need to make your day right. We arrive at 9:30 on a Saturday and they were starting a waiting list. We only waited 10 minutes, but as we dined the line grew. Keep that in mind if you arrive hungry! This was great! Went for a later lunch and the place was still pretty busy. I decided on breakfast for lunch. I ordered one pancake just to try it and the scrambled eggs with a grilled English muffin and home fries. DELICIOUS! The pancake was HUGE and so good. I'm not sure how some restaurants mess up pancakes but these guys sure don't!!! The place is clean and all of the staff were super friendly. The tables are a little close but ok for a quick meal. The owners came around to make sure everything was good too. I hope they stick with that. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. First time here. Have heard many great things about this place and let me tell you it was amazing. The price is just right $34 for 3 and we had plenty of food. I ordered clam chowder and it was thick full of flavor with plenty of sea food chunks in it! I def recommend this location and will be coming back. I just wish they had mimosas but other than that it was a great experience and i notice that the manager kept walking around checking on tables making sure everyone was taken care of! read more

Came here on a Friday morning, and it was pretty busy. I love what they've done to the place (previously friendlys), new fixtures, sleek, clean, modern diner vibes. Took a seat at the breakfast bar, and was greeted by the friendly servers. Standard breakfast menu... I got the Irish eggs Benedict (eggs benny w corned beef hash) substituted home fries for hash browns, and my friend got the Irish eggs( 2 eggs w homemade corned beef hash). I love a good Benny and WOW, I love how they toast the English muffin, so crisp and buttery and the the corned beef hash was exactly how I like it, a super crisp exterior. I finished my entire plate of food and that rarely happens, it left me wanting more. It's not your typical overloaded plate from a diner. :((( Smaller portions, so i am definitely going to have to order double corned beef hash next time lol.. We also shared a full order(3pancakes) of the very berry pancakes, which tasted your typical pancakes, nothing special. Although, the size of these pancakes were HUGE. read more

Boyfriend and I stopped here on our way back from a hike and we're pleasantly surprised. Staff was very friendly, service was prompt and the food was very good. He had the fried chicken sandwich and I had the root beer infused pulled pork sandwich. I can be a pulled pork snob and this was just the way I like it. Nice chunks of pork and lightly dressed (sometimes they're way too sloppy and you can only taste the sauce and not the pork) this was well balanced with a pleasantly sweet root beer bbq sauce. If we lived closer, we'd certainly go back, So I'd say if you're in the area check it out! read more

I would skip this one and go to the Twisted Fork just a couple miles down the road in Cherry Valley if you're looking for a good breakfast. This place is overpriced for the bland food they serve, and if I'm paying $12-14 on a breakfast meal it better have some flavor. I did enjoy the home fries and the banana chocolate chip pancakes were pretty decent, but everything was so blah tasting to me that I wasn't even full after eating everything. The bacon was over cooked and not flavorful either. I'm not sure why so many hype this diner up as there are plenty of awesome diners in Worcester county that blow this one away, in price and taste. They also serve their juice from a minute maid machine which grosses me out and reminds me of college. No thank you. read more

Being from the east side of the city and over webster Sq we decided to try the diner. Upon walking in it was refreshing to see a new renovated space done so well. It's nice and spacious with individual tables as well as a bar (no booze) where you can eat. The waitress seated us it was lunchtime not too crowded and thankfully not loud. The waitress came over and took our drink order. I opted for a decaf coffee and my fiancé had a regular coffee. It came in a old style red coffee mug. Coffee was fresh and I told the waitress it was good coffee she said it was good as gold brand. I had a Italian aunt who used to say if the coffees good the food will be too. Well that statement truly was on point. The waitress told us the daily specials and we chose off the menu.My fiancé ordered the French onion soup and a salad. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings. My fiancé who loves onion soup said it was a 10 and coming from her that's a compliment. Her salad came in a nice big wide bowl with fresh greens,no plain old regular lettuce.My grilled chicken sandwich came on a nice fresh bun and the chicken was grilled just right not dry at all very flavorful.The onion rings were tasty and big not thin or over cooked like many places. The bill came to about $30 and it was well worth it. It was a random stop and we both agreed we would be back. 1st time trying this place, and very disappointed. The menu sounds amazing, and might be if they actually deliver what they describe. Our waitress didn't know the menu so first off I received the wrong meal, I ordered a "signature " grilled chicken dish and was brought a sandwich- then when she took it back (without any apology) what I was given in a second attempt was the same piece if chicken which was obviously reheated and rock hard, on top of hard potatoes burnt and inedible and was supposed to be topped with a nice fried egg which was a flat hard piece of rubber. How can a diner not make a beautiful over easy fried egg? My husband ordered a tuna sandwich which was fine, but he didn't want fries but was told there are no substitutes and they don't offer any other sides as options (but yet their menu states otherwise). We were billed full price for a meal I couldn't eat and nobody in the kitchen seemed to care. Also I want to mention on our way out another couple stopped to ask us about our experience since they noticed we sent a dish back and said they saw a few others have issues and they did as well. Maybe this establishment was having a bad day but the attitude that came along with it was enough to stop me from going back. read more
