Stopped here for groceries after dinner. Good produce department and the aisles are well stocked. As you might have guessed the prices are off the chart for most items. This is the place to go if you are craving a week old donut. I don't know where they make their donuts, bread and pastries but it always seems old. These goods used to be fresher. The Carbondale store's baked goods seem to better. read more

Don't bother "scheduling" a vaccine appointment at Ciry Market Pharmacy. You arrive and have to wait in their usual insanely slow long line and then the pharmacist does not even pay attention that you're waiting once you're signed in and just does the vaccine when he decides it is convenient for him. read more

This grocery store blew me away. The only other grocery store experience I had in this area (during a previous trip) was in Carbondale and it had a very out dated feeling though i can't complain too much as I was able to locate everything I needed. Back to City Market - the store featured a RedBox (huge fan of that) as well as a large selection of fresh fruits and veggies (we never did seem to locate the limes but that was ok). The meat department contained many things i'm not accustomed to seeing or looking for (leg of lamb etc.) but perhaps they are catering to their clientele with these items. The self care section was phenomenal. I was excited to find my favorite Zum Body products (frankincense & myrrh) in not only a lotion but also in a body/room spray (I found the suggested use interesting as well body/room spray). The staff were warm and friendly and our groceries were expertly bagged up with speed and efficiency. I was shocked not to see many patrons using their own grocery bags and I'm sorry to report that I wasn't at the register to hear if re-usable bags was something being offered/included. If I have the time and want to do some perusing/relaxing during my next grocery store experience in the area I will definitely come back to City Market with my re-usable bags. read more

Pharmacy folks were awesome. Had an issue with our doctor's prescription and Diane went beyond my expectations in getting it right. Highly recommend. Some of the reviews are negative on this store, but we shop here weekly and its been fine. The reality is most of these folks work for low wages in an extremely expensive valley, with some entitled customers coming through at times. read more

My wife had a prescription for a painkiller to fill and discovered the pharmacy in Basalt closes early on Saturdays and would not reopen until Monday. It was a short drive and we encountered only a few others in line. The pharmacist was very good, relating to us all the information we needed. Though we did not purchase anything in the grocery section, I was impressed by the variety of goods, particularly in the bakery. read more

So, I decided to join the new millennium and order my groceries off the web. Let my fingers do the walking. So I signed up, got an account, and was able to order about 80% of the stuff I needed. Okay, fine, I'll pick up the rest at the store. Not bad for a first try. Then it turns out they need eight hours lead time. Not going shopping at 10 p.m. tonight. Live and learn. Go to the store to do my shopping the regular way. Whole time they're asking over the PA for people at checkout and baggers. That's fine, you say, you've already figured out the ending of the story, probably. But I digress. So, properly provisioned, I approach the checkout line. Sure enough, total stasis. Eureka, they have self-checkout, I'll go there. Two or three minutes later I'm checking out, scanning away, merrily. Some dude behind me is glaring at me. WTF, what now? He goes and whispers to the observer from City Market. She comes up to me. "What am I doing wrong?" Checking out too much stuff. WTF, I'm in trouble? Like in high school? Where is Jeff Linstrom when you need him? Proceed pro se, I don't have grocery store counsel available. Can you explain what the problem is, I asked? Turns out people are mad at me for checking out too much stuff. What am I supposed to do? Turns out I'm supposed to go stand in a long line with the non-existent checkers and baggers. WTF. I blow her off, but not before getting yelled at for having her come clear the machine so I can move my first load of bags out of the bagging area and put them in the cart and finish the rest of the check out. That's bad, too, now I know. So, full of vinegar, I go to the store manager and ask where the cutoff is between a load that is too big for self-checkout and one that is too small for the regular line. You've figured this out, Dear Reader, they have no clue. Here endeth the Parable of the Prodigal Customer. Right now it looks like Amazon and Whole Foods are going to take over the world. read more

Whoever is managing this location needs to get a serious hold on their employees. It is a free for all at this location! Employees here are allowed to park anywhere they want in the parking lot. I often see them getting off their shifts and heading to their cars in prime spots of the lot. This is an issue because that parking lot is already a nightmare! How do you not have a designated area for your employees? Or at least make sure they only park at the back of the lot? How are you ok with letting employees take up spots that your customers need!? The designated employee smoking area is to the very right of the FRONT DOOR! Hell, I partake in the occasional cigarette but to have your employee smoking area in the front of the building, let alone by the front entrance is beyond me. This location NEVER has little carts available. If all the little carts are always being used (clearly people prefer that size) then why don't you order more!? Some employees walking around the store are not very eager to help you find something if needed. The customer service really lacks at this location. I think they are attempting to make changes because they know a brand new City Market is being put in Carbondale. I hope they soon make some changes regarding these issues. They do not have a rating low enough for this store! Ordered online last week and received a confirmation via email soon after. Having a 50th anniversary party at work! Got to the El Jebel store to pick up my order from the deli counter which was scheduled for noon and after being ignored for several minutes someone finally came to help. Told her I was picking up an order and she stated that they did not have any orders scheduled for pick up. Left my confirm in the car so ran out and got it. Asked to speak to the store manager who took the copy of my order and disappeared into the store. She came back several minutes later and said they(the deli/bakery) did not get your order ready. She stated, "I know they got it because I got the same emailed copy. I don't know what to say." Meanwhile I have 60 people showing up at my office for a party with no food and no cake! The manager did offer to make my order and even deliver it however by this time it was 20 minutes after the party was to have started. They needed another 30 minutes to make the order and it is a 25 minute drive to my office. Ask me if I will ever order/shop this City Market again? I think not!!!!! They totally dropped the ball!!! Do not go there! Go to Whole Paycheck just down the road. Maybe worth it if you have 60 people expecting a party! read more

I saw the review of the Aspen City Market and feel you need to know that the newly revamped City Market, just a few miles down valley is awesome indeed. With the exception of a poorly designed parking lot, the place is a Far cry from the primitive grocery facilities in this valley 30 years ago when I first arrived. It's modern, big and with a wonderful selection. The people working there are all very helpful and the Butcher Shop is wonderful. The only other Butcher Shops in the area are so over priced, only the excessively rich patronize them. read more
