Went in yesterday (8/27/23) for a single handle valve trim kit for my bathroom shower. My current single handle was in dire need of a replacement. Called to inquire what I'd seen on their website was in stock, and it was. The Associate my wife had spoken to on the phone was on lunch but, we were helped out by the shift Manager I believe and the Associate that was in the paint department. They were extremely helpful and courteous! We made the purchase, went home and we replaced the old quickly and easily. The Staff are always helpful and friendly! Occasionally I will see catalogs in the news paper for city mill, their prices are good when I compare them to other stores like Home Depo or Lowes. Their sales have been excellent lately too, I brought a large tue of water proof grout for a good price compared to the other chains. I go there for BBQ items needs too, they are close and convenient plus the service at City Mill is very professional and the clerks have good product knowledge. If you just need to grab small items for a job you are doing at your house I would suggest City Mill. read more

I like the variety of items they sell. It's almost a one stop shop when looking to make repairs and maintaining things at home, or just to get home and offices items. I like they have automotive things too I even found cheap reading glasses! The down side is thar they CLOSE EARLY. ‍ Most times I can't make it there because of the time. read more

So disgusted. I go to City Mill here and there for things I need. Prior visits were uneventful. My most recent visit I walked in 5 minutes to closing and was greeted by a young girl who said with attitude, that ugly Wai'anae I'm better than anyone attitude, "You guys know what you getting because we close in 5 minutes." I called for a manager. The manager came out and before I said a word she told me "I hope it's not her attitude." Which tells me this is an ongoing issue. City Mill has lost a customer, I will never shop here again. I feel so disrespected. The management team has made a big mistake putting this person at the front door or on the floor at all. This girl should not be an employee period. She is not able to control her behavior enough to be professional and needs more training on how to act. Sloppy very sloppy. To have this at the front door, as the first encounter a customer has, ruined my entire experience with City Mill. I expect better. read more

City Mill Mililani clerk said she would put an order in for fertilizer that I needed. Waited a week then went to store again. Seems she was new and didn't complete the process. Second clerk and a manager checked and reconfirmed that only Waianae had the product so I volunteered to go pick it up Mililani to Waianae - pretty far! The ladies at Waianae were very good too and knew where may order was. I bought another bag of the fertilizer too - total 3. City Mill is located towards the back end of Waianae Mall. I have stepped foot into the home improvement store a few times. As a person enters the store the registers would be on the left hand side. Walking further towards the left side is the key duplicating machine. One of the employees named Given had helped me in getting one set of keys duplicated. There's another employee who also helps customers with getting keys duplicated. Customers are able to purchase whatever they need to improve their house or yard. Gardening tools plus fertilizer, electrical parts, plumbing parts, or even paint. Close to the checkout counters are couple small refrigerators filled with packaged beverages for customers to purchase. One day I will have to roam the entire store to see what I can purchase to help improve my home or yard. 73/100 read more

Looking for an item 'Drill Brush' at Waianae City mill. Before arriving a call was place to reinsure the item was there at Waianae city mill. Note: You better ask the worker for name don't ask me why lol. Anyways arriving to the store we couldn't find the item. I ask front desk worker which area would it be located she pointed cleaning supplies area and still we couldn't find it. I refuse to give up to find it because I've talk to a worker and gave her SKU number she said had 18 left. Seeing another worker near by. I ask for help telling her the same thing about the SKU code. She asked who did I talked to? My response was I didn't know, I needed her name to find an item the worker told me they have 18 left after that, I asked what was her name? she said I wasn't the one you talked to very defensive mode. My response: I didn't say that at all I'm just asking for your name. Her body language change immediately she turn back at me and said what's my problem? And That I came up to her ' Which I thought that was the point to ask workers for help? I guess not at this location. I told her what are you talking about? First ask for name now don't. As she takes me to another worker who been there for years 'Wish I found her first' instead of Francine or Francis it's a elderly white female can't even remember her name just her Attitude. She grab the item as my wife approached her to get it she slams it down behind her on the crates. My wife said Thank You. She walked away with her imaginary high horse. Me telling my wife sorry for her being snarky to you, the worker turns around and said what!!! No point arguing with this elderly worker. Someone give Jason a raise because he was honestly such a help when my husband and I came over to buy (4) 6 foot tall cabinets. Before we made the trek all the way to Waianae from Waipio, we called with the item #'s we were looking for to see if they were in stock. Jason answered it and quickly let us know the items and quantities we needed were available. We drove down there and coincidentally we ended up with Jason as our cashier and he helped us get the (4) large cabinets we needed. He had to go in the back to check the stock and he had done it so patiently even when we added a dresser at the last minute. Thank you do Cornelio and Jay for also helping us load our truck. I was very picky with how I wanted the truck loaded, but they did so without a complaint. The staff here were very helpful and although it is quite a drive from our home, it is definitely worth it. City Mill (WAIANAE). (4 stars). The customer service here is on point and sincere!! Plus it is a local store. Not a corporate chain! Prior to getting ready to sell our house I never really went to any home improvement stores (i.e. Home Depot, Lowe's, City Mill, etc). But after gearing up to move and having to go to different stores with the BF I have to say City Mill's customer service (and the fact that this location is right down the street from us) made the difference in terms of who we give our business to. It does help that this location isn't as busy as the town location! Every time I come here the staff is genuinely friendly and helpful and will actually stop what they are doing and answer any and all of my gazillions of questions!! There was a point at which I thought I may need to buy a miter to continue doing some work. The BF was on a work trip and I couldn't get a hold of him so the very nice lady said she would show me all the features and accoutrements this particular model came with. The miter was on sale for a very good price too! So after showing me all the bells and whistles the BF calls me back and says we have a miter! So I slowly turn towards the sales lady and sheepishly grin and tell her we apparently already have a miter... Without any hesitation she just says she is glad she could help! Wow I was impressed and she was very sincere. She told me that she grew up in Waianae and loves to work at this location as she feels it is one way of giving back to the community!! Awesome!! There are a few things that I have had to order online but majority of the things that I need are here at this location. The customer service here is what brings us back to this location!! Waianae City Mill customer service has declined over the past months. I witnessed "discrimination" and uncalled for rudeness from a City Mill lumber salesman. A customer that didn't speak English was with a cashier, and the lumber worker was clearly upset about something and actually told the customer that he was dumb and stupid because he didn't speak English. I was surprised that nothing was told to the lumber worker with a supervisor standing there, and a line of customers listening and watching. Waianae is a small knit community and the "dumb Asian guy" he was talking to is also a Small business owner in Waianae. He and his wife are the owners of a small local drive in the heart of Waianae. I've been coming to Waianae City Mill over the years and I'm sorry to say their customer service is not what it used to be. The store looks cluttered and very messy. It's hard to find help in every department. I hope they teach them ALOHA and treat every customer with respect. read more

I was really excited to see that City Mill had an ad for my old headlamp that I've been wanting to replace. I called all the locations to see if they had it and none did. So when I called the Waianae location they said they would call me when it came in. That was 5 days ago. On my day off I decided to go check out the store to see if their shipment came in. One sales clerk said their shipment didn't come in and another said that it was sold out. I decided to speak to the manager to find out the truth. She told me that they only had 3 come, they did forget to call me, they do not have any more, and they will not get anymore. Now, I leave the store empty handed and very disappointed. read more

This place is awful if you just need something quick. The lady who runs the paint and drywall section is really knowledgeable. It usually is worth it to go there for that sort of stuff. Anything else you might as well just save the trip and go to Kapolei. I have called in three times and asked for specific things. Square D gfi circuit breaker, vent for the back of an over the range hood and a sharpener for a self propelled push mower. Each time I was very specific in what I needed, I took great care in my explanations and they said they carried the item I was looking for only to get there and have nobody know what I was talking about including the person I talked to. Just not great customer service and pretty expensive for a small hardware store. Try going to hardware Hawaii instead. read more

Eh.... Not my favorite choice of hardware stores but it isn't bad. Even though it's so close to where I live I tend to either go to hardware Hawaii or Home Depot but lately city mill has been working its way up there. The employees have always been friendly. Maybe some don't know a lot about the things their store sells which is a bummer but I do sense their effort in helping me anyway. One particular employee is on it tho lol. If you ask her something it's like she memorized the entire store and will tell you exactly where it is which is useful when you're in a hurry. Tons of parking so that's never a problem. My only gripe about this place is that it's a little expensive compared to other stores of its kind. Many of the things in city mill I can find at Walmart for half the price lol. Oh wait there's one more thing lol I think the a/c is out in this place because it was hot! I thought it was just me but nope it felt stuffy and sticky inside lol. We even went to the fan section just to cool down while we waited for people to finish shopping but the fans were just blowing around hot air lol. The cashiers have always greeted me with a genuine smile and small talk. To top it off, they usually carry what my family and I need, so we don't have to venture into Kapolei or farther. The service at this location in particular is one to write home about! I can't begin to explain how helpful and genuine the staff is. Real "ALOHA," is what's up at City Mill, Waianae. The glowing reviews are most likely from CM employees . I am a contractor and go to this store 3-5 times a week. Several of the employees are super-obese and spend most of their time holding on to a shopping cart, wheezing from the exertion of doing nothing. Every can of paint I ever had mixed there was the wrong color. A few employees are great, but the average is rude, slow as molasses, and unhelpful. The two older women on the floor are never seen doing anything useful. If they moved any slower they would go into reverse. If I were the boss I would fire all but 3-4 people. If Home Depot were closer I would go there all the time instead of once a week. I can say with certainty that Waianae City Mill is the most ghetto hardware store I have been to in 49 years. read more

I went to city mill today to purchase two fans and some ear buds. As I was driving home I realized I had left the ear buds at the register so I called them and Denise answered the phone. I started to explain that I left the ear buds at the register and she was telling me she couldn't hear me so I raised my voice to speak louder. She kept telling me that she couldn't hear me and then told me not to yell! I simply told her, "I'm sorry, I thought you couldn't hear me. I wasn't yelling." She continued with attitude and said, "I couldn't hear you because you were yelling." I told her, "I wasn't yelling from the begining. I raised my voice because you couldnt hear me the first time." She then gets irritated and hangs up on me! WTH??? I couldn't believe it. So I called back and Denise answers the phone again. This time I just ask to speak to a manager. I explain my situation to him and he apologizes and tells me that he'll talk to Denise. He told me that my ear buds would be at register one. So, after hanging up, I wasn't satisfied. I wanted an apology from Denise! The manager was very friendly but did nothing wrong. When I walked in to pick up the ear buds, I went to register one and the cashier didn't know anything about my ear buds. I asked her to call the manager to the front. While I was waiting for the manager, Denise and the employee working next to her flagged me down to tell me they had the ear buds. I was thinking Denise would apologize for the rude phone conversation we just had 5 mins before I walked in, but no. She just smiled and waved bye. When the manager came to the front I told him that I feel that I deserve an apology from her because that wasn't professional of her to disrespect me on the phone. He walks over to her and as they both come walking back to me, she comes walking up to me saying, "you looking for an apology?" First of all, who the hell tought this employee customer service? Really?? That's how you were taught to approach a disgruntled customer? So I just tell her, "yes, but I'd like to apologize to you first for any miscommunication we had over the phone, but you didn't have to hang up on me. That was very unprofessional! " She did apologize for the miscommunication but that's all. Then she continued to tell me that she couldn't hear me because of "static". So I said but you told me it was because I was "yelling" then I said "I would have never gotten irritated if you didn't throw me attitude first!." Then she paused put on a smirk that turned into the ?fakest? smile and says "ok im sorry, im sorry" again in the most ?Fakest? Voice and tone and all this is happening with the manager right there! Well still unsatisfied I told both of them thank you and went on my way. Now I Know that jobs that include customer service aren't the easiest to deal with. But it is your job! Once you clock in you are a representative of that company and I don't think people understand that now days...it's all about the paycheck$...but I would at least expect some sort of professionalism! read more
