This is my first time going to this beach and I had a great experience. As soon as you go to this location the parking was free. To walk to the beach you can walk through the small pathway or through the boardwalk. I walked through the pathway and I saw a turtle. I noticed this beach allows you to park on the sand with a car pathway only. I noticed soo many beautiful jeeps on the beach. This beach also allows you to bring your dogs. I found this beach super clean but the water was choppy today so I stayed in the shore. I saw a couple of people surfing as well. I should have checked the flag of the beach before coming to this beach. I definitely loved this beach. read more

St Augustine Beach city is just about 20 minutes outside of St Augustine city. We stayed at a nice beach hotel with a great view of the ocean and their own private beach on St Augustine beach. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The beach is soft sand and easy to walk on. There are many people walking on the beach in the morning. Some are also on bicycles. The view is great. Thete are many restaurants, shops, gas stations, hotels, drug stores, and bars. It's a mini-city. It's a lot more quiet than St. Augustine. read more

4.5 I went here with my family and it was a fun day trip. We walked a lot. We ate there and there were many choices of food. We walked along in the shopping street where there are plenty of stores to browse in and buy things. There was a lot of architecture. There was also a Fort you can visit and learn about the history of it. It was a fun filled day. It's really hot so make sure you have sunscreen, bottled water and a hat. read more

I like it here. It is very relaxing and a great place to unwind. It is a pretty small town. I think a one night stay is enough. There is a decent amount of things to do but not a whole lot. For some reason, this town reminds me of Mallorca, Spain. The people are friendly and helpful. There are some cute shops and distilleries here. Pizza and ice cream seem to be the go to foods in this town. It is very clean and appealing. There is some exhibit from the military? that people seemed to like. We parked right by it but did not go in. There are some great picture taking spots by the water. I had always heard St. Augustine is a great place to visit and I am glad I finally did. read more

Great city to visit . There are good restaurants and great walking streets. Lots of shops. I didn't get a chance to see the rest , I'd like to come back and take the hop on hop off trolley and see some of the historical sights. The city is about twenty minutes from where we are staying on the beach but its easy driving back and forth. I-95 and I-275 are great highways and make getting around easy as we drive to Jacksonville for bagels.. read more

Extremely rough waves when I visited, only saw a handful of others there and not a soul in the water. Aside from that, a gorgeous beach with lots of room for people but not enough parking, but a lot of beach access points leading to hotels, restaurants, or residences. I actually prefer St. Augustine Beach and all of the beaches south of here to the Jacksonville Beaches. Call it nostalgia from my childhood and college years or chalk it up to just being more accessible, convenient and usable for beach-goers. It's also more relaxing and chill. There are tons of great restaurants in and around the beaches where you can bike or walk up in your bathing suit and towel and grab a bite to eat. I love Anastasia where you can camp & picnic without any hassle. Publix supermarket is not too far from here if you just want to cookout at your rental or pick up a sub, water and some fruit to take on the beach. If you're not local and want to stay a couple of days or few, I suggest either renting a house or a hotel room right on the beach for easy access depending on your budget, how long you're staying and how many people are in your party. Just make sure to book ahead during high season for availability and better rates. read more

I have lived by a beach my whole life in Florida from Pensacola, Naples, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Boca Raton, St Petersburg, etc. I have lived in St Augustine for 2 1/2 years. By far St Augustine Beach is the worse. How stupid is it to put sharp gravel on the sand years ago. Before renourishment you could not even get on the beach at high tide. First bad storm bye bye renourishment. The snackbar is nothing but gas station food and I might be selling gas station food short. Total garbage. Thank god I get my beach at Crescent beach at 206. The high tides comes up to around 30 to 40 yards of homes all ready wacked the stairs again. Good luck selling your beach front property. You cannot get decent vegetables in St Augustine, no farmers market, Whole foods,Traders Joes. Just the run of the mill discount stores. Publix even does fit the bill. I refuse to shop with the locals, extreme gouging. Do not even think about a dentist or auto repair. I am leaving soon, probably Gainesville. The only decent town left in Florida. First time away from a beach, sad. read more

Can I just say I love St. Augustine Beach! The sand might not be as nice as Destin's sugary white sand and emerald green waters, the waves might not be as high as they are on Singer Island in WPB, and you might not be able to see the bottom as you can in the Bahamas islands; but it is a very nice beach overall that one can go to during the summer and find a nice secluded spot to relax, swim, or fish. Not only is St. Augustine a nice beach but the town of St. Augustine also has a lot to offer in the way or restaurants, bars, and cute little shops. The beach is also conveniently located to the historic district of St. Augustine where one can take a short drive to go visit some of the historic sites of America's First City. read more

Just an absolutely perfect beach. The sand here is a lot more powerdery than the beaches by Fort Lauderdale which seem to be grittier. If you get off the beaten track, there are plenty of open and free parking areas. I wandered down to Mary Street where I spotted a "Beach Access" sign and there was a ton of space there for the car and barely a handful of people out on the beach. read more

Lots to see and do in St Augustine Beach Of course you have the fishing pier and miles of beach (we are a dog friendly county just keep them on a lead). For the little ones there is Splash Park right next to the pier. Yep and a couple of restrooms along with some showers to wash the sand off. If you are in SAB on Wednesday visit our Farmers and Craft Market in the morning. Join use for dinner and music Wednesday evening at the pavilion just north of the pier. The market and concert are the effort of the St Augustine Beach Civic Association Concert series starts in May and runs until mid October We always have food from a local restaurant (meals are under $10). Food is available at around 6pm. The band starts at 7pm You can of course bring a picnic basket and your cooler with your favorite adult beverage Concert runs from 7 to around 9. Bring chairs or a blanket. Go to the St Augustine Beach Civic Association for more details. We have some excellent restaurants and hotels here come on down and enjoy our city! read more

If you are lucky enough to be on the beach, you are lucky enough. We were even luckier that our Bed and Breakfast was on the beach. We walked about 5 steps, and the beach was right there. It was wide open, dog friendly, and as wonderful as a beach could be. Now, I do have a fear of the Atlantic Ocean. It is much more rougher than the other coast, the Gulf, but it is nice to see waves and hear them. I loved how convenient this beach was for us. It is definitely a beautiful one. The city itself has some restaurants and a beach bar close to the beach. We didn't frequent them, but there was definitely a good share of them. read more

The beach was clean and family oriented. The waves were not high but enough to get in and cool down. Please bring your sunscreen, beach towels and/or beach chairs. If your skin is sensitive to the sun, bring a beach umbrella or beach tent. The sun is directly on you. Bring your flip flops or beach sandals. The sand is beautiful but gets everywhere in your car (even after rinsing off). There is a rinse station as you come in. Parking is a nightmare. read more

This is one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. Although it is been damaged by storms recently and has needed to be replenished by dredging, it's still an amazing beach with great water to swim in. This beach is great for both surfers and fisherman and as well as families to enjoy the lovely Florida water. It's very easy to park and walk to the beach, or stand on the many hotels or other accommodations nearby. There are always many restaurants and bars reachable from the beach as well, however you should probably scout these out ahead of time as they are not easily seen from the water. Exit from the beach are also difficult to come by and all the private residences are locked off from the public. The beach is accessible from many locations, however. One thing that truly makes his speech special and fun is the ability to drive your car onto the beach. Cars cost around $10 and you can go pretty far down the beach, however a 4 x 4 is required in some sections so plan ahead. It is not necessary to have a four-wheel-drive vehicle if you are open to going to any old spot on the beach I don't have a specific location in mind. read more

The place used to be a "family-friendly/oriented" kind of place, but not so much anymore. If you don't want your children visually assaulted by hyper-skimpy beachwear (ie. thongs), you might want to think again about this place. And the folks who so attire themselves do not restrict themselves to the beach and dunes only, but often - without coverups - strut on the sidewalks out on Beach Blvd. Just be aware . . . the hype isn't necessarily accurate. read more

Definitely go to the beaches!! There is a whole coast to choose from, and to me they are all different, and all just minutes away from historic downtown. There is Anastasia State Park, which has an entrance fee for each car. Before getting to the beach, you'll pass some woods, with a 5 minute trail to the coquina quarries (pretty cool to check out for a minute). The beach is vast and awesome and undeveloped. Then there is the A1A beach scene, with lots of awesome restaurants, bars, shops, etc. It has a really cool, super mellow beachy vibe with hot surfers and skim boarders to feast your eyes upon (haha). One of my other favorites is the southern tip of Vilano beach (just a few minutes north of downtown) at sunset. You can see the cross reflecting the golden hues. Very romantic! And while all the other beaches in the area have fine white sands, this one is a little more coarse (but not rough on the feet), and very colorful. You can see fragments of purple and orange shell bits in a handful of sand. I think that's really awesome. read more

I really enjoyed this beach! The place was nice and very clean although I did find a few cigarette butts around. I went during the middle of May and there was a lot of space with no crowds of people. I feel like this is a great beach to have fun and relax at without all the stress of clutter and strangers around. There is even a cute playground/kids area! Prettiest beach I ever seen in Florida, after Perdido Keys of course! The water is clean, beach is litter free, crystal white sands and the best part is that it's not overcrowded with teens or college kids! Very peaceful and quiet and you don't find yourself walking into second hand smoke, like in its nearby counterpoint, Pensacola! Win win! St. Augustine is about 5 hours away from Atlanta and such a nice getaway that's so close but far enough to feel relaxed! St Augustine is the oldest city in the US so it's definitely nice to be apart of a city that's filled with so much history! read more

Gorgeous beach that survived Hurricane Matthew! We were so happy to see the pier survived Hurricane Matthew. The beach has shrunk a bit because of the hurricane but it's still gorgeous and our favorite place to be! The only problem is the parking, especially on the weekends. For us we are close enough we can walk. We love the Wednesday Market as well as the New Year's Eve Beach Blast and the summer concerts. These are all awesome fun things to experience on the beach if one is given the opportunity. The new years eve party has now become a tradition for us! Beautiful beach, though the couple of times I've been here they were either constructing or had a huge pipeline that you had to walk over to get to the shore. Work seems to be winding down. This is one of the best beaches in Florida. I love how wide this beach is. It's so wide that you're even allowed to drive on the beach, which makes parking and unloading a breeze. The Beachcomber restaurant is a great place to grab a bite, and it's the only restaurant that is truly "on" the beach (although it is somewhat obstructed by dunes). It gets too cold for me to get in the water in the winter, but snowbirds can be seen swimming here in January! read more

I can not say enough about this beach!. Clean, not a lot of high rises, and not over crowded. Been on the gulf side for over 5 years and now we are planning on relocating to the area. A true gem and hope it stays that way. Definitely a change from lower beaches like palm beach and Daytona which are packed, dirty, and commercialized. read more

I'm torn because I want to tell the world how fantastic this place is. On the other hand, I don't want to reveal it to the world and it becomes overcrowded! This is our 5th time to the island, and we love it here. It's never crowded, no matter what time of year. It's a family beach, so everyone feels comfortable. The locals are fantastic folks! We always seem to stumble upon local events, and make a habit of speaking to the locals. The only bad experiences are the visitors that are too uptight to realize the beauty of their surroundings! The beaches are clean, and we'll maintained. Not a lot of commercialism on the island, which we LOVE! Plus, there is always something to do. Farmer markets, flea markets, outdoor concerts/movies, African drum circles, etc! Excellent food, beaches, and people. Bottom line, we come on vacation to remove ourselves from the daily grind. If you want a place that will simply take you to another place, St Augustine Beach is the place for you. This is our 5th (or 6th) year vacationing here, and we have been all over the US. While we will visit other great places, St Augustine Beach will continue to be our yearly tradition! At lease until we buy a place of our own! Keep up the good work guys! read more

There's no other place I'd rather be. The salt life is a way of life like none other. Sand between your toes and other places we won't mention but you get use to it. Sort of. After a storm go walk the beach and you'll be amazed at the treasures you'll find. There is beauty every where you look. There is nothing that a good long walk, run, bike ride on the beach can't cure. Look out over Gods great creation and stand in awe and what peace flows over you. We here in St. Aug. Historic and interesting city. The oldest city in America. My favorite thing was the fountain of youth. Kind of redneck and a lot of tourist but, I think it would be best to visit when there was not so many tourist and small children running around.
