We came here as we're still exploring dog friendly beaches and ensuring that beach only allows leashed dogs. My dog doesn't like being approached randomly by dogs so being around off leashed dogs is always a risk. We do extensive research when going to beaches for her since she loves digging and swimming. Overall it was a very clean beach and we love how spread out it was for our reactive dog. It is on the the top list of dog beaches for us to visit! read more

I can't really say this is a business when in reality it's a beach but it is absolutely amazing. If you come earlier in the day even in June it is so quiet and beautiful. There are two entrances to be able to drive a four-wheel drive vehicle on the beach so you don't have to haul your stuff and it is absolutely amazing. Clean but no bathrooms just a heads up. At least in certain parts I'm sure there are some towards the entrances. read more

We've been here a few times and love the beach! The sand is fine and there was not much seaweed at all when we were there. We went in late May and it can get pretty crowded close to the public entrances, but if you prefer less people you can stroll down the beach a little. Overall the family enjoyed this beach a lot. I came here this past Labor Day weekend with family and friends. They have a family condo on this beach and we had a blast! First off, this is a relatively small town south of St. Augustine. It definitely gives off those small town vibes and I'm loving it, as I am from a small town myself. The beach was an amazing east coast Florida beach! From the white sands to the clean waters. There were a few sea creatures that were obviously present but they didn't bother us at all. I found it very useful and cool that you could drive on the beach here. Not many beaches allow that nowadays so that's definitely something to look forward to! Overall this was the perfect place to relax with family a friends. We tried Violas pizza down the road and they were a tasty treat to end our great weekend! read more

Crescent beach is a beautiful white sandy beach south of St Augustine on Anastasia Island. The beach is wide and a wonderful location to watch the sunrise, sunbathe or fly a kite. Surfers attempt to surf when the water is rough. A few fisherman attempt to fish from the shore but the water is shallow for quite a ways out. The sand is hard so there are a lot of bicycles that travel the beach. People are friendly. There are a lot of birds such as sea gulls and pelicans that frequent the beach looking for a seafood meal. There are a small amount of shells that wash up on the beach, mostly bivalves, olives, sharks eyes and wells. There are unfortunately a number of dead jelly fish that wash up on the beach so you need to watch where you walk. Cars may travel the beach in designated lanes during off season and are restricted to 10 MPH. Access to the beach is via streets about a mile apart. There is a limited amount of parking at these dead end streets. The beach is well patrolled by local sheriffs department. There are occasional waste receptacles along the beach. Leased dogs are allowed on the beach with an special permit. Cleanup bags are provided near road access sites. There is not much commercial along the beach but there is an occasional restaurant. I did not see restroom facilities. There are a number of great rental options along the beach. read more

This beach is fine sand that packs really tightly, making it possible for 4x4 driving one way, one lane heading South down the beach. The smooth beach and long tide leaves a good stretch of wet sand ideal for birds to hunt and peck any leftovers, or for kids to splash without being taken over by waves. Beautiful sunrises, even on the winter's cloudy days when the sun peeks between the horizon and cloud layer. read more

This is a silky soft, sandy beach. Admission is free and not charge for parking. I loved my visit to this beach. It was very clean and wasn't busy at all. You can even drive on this beach. This is my favorite beach. All-time favorite. It's one of the rare places where you can still drive on the beach. For about $20 you can get a beach pass for the season. And that means you can access your own car anytime and don't have to tote all 200 lbs. of your beach gear, towels, blankets, chairs, food & beer coolers, books, sunblock, extra clothes, boogie boards, water noodles, dog, kids and music source back [and forth] from your paid parking spot on [usually] burning hot asphalt and sand. It's really a nice advantage. One thing to note is that the sand is very soft in some areas during particular parts of the year if St. Johns County hasn't grated the beaches [you may want to check the surf/beach report online prior to your visit]. Usually there will be a big sign at each of the beach entrances so don't miss it [because most likely you will]: " 4 x 4's ONLY" in black and white At times there will be a mandatory ban on all two-wheel drive vehicles entering the beach because of this soft sand so don't permanently affix your beach pass [if you buy one] to your low-riding four door two-wheel drive sedan. Look, I'm just trying to save you the frustration... Worse case scenario, there will always be a friendly local with a big four-wheel drive truck ready to pull you out. I know from experience. I had about a dozen people stop and ask if I needed help. My answer would always be: Nah, I'm OK. I think I got it....Thank you. But your answer should be: Yes, please. :) FYI: They usually have the tow ropes on-hand. read more

A wonderful find that you can still drive on a beach other than Daytona. This seams to be a bit of a hidden gem but well worth finding. Nice walk way from the parking lot if you do not want to drive on the sand. Be careful as it gets soft and you really should have 4 wheel drive to go on any beach. We tend to eat at the restaurant and then walk on the beach but it is always clean and a pleasure to walk. read more

Best beach in Florida! Beautiful white sand . Great for walking, bicycles, kid friendly with tidal pools at low tide for kids to play in. Pet friendly. Not crowded and not much car traffic which is strictly confined to upper area of the beach. We went to this beach after reading on line that it was a "natural pristine beach". We were horrified to walk out to the beach to find the top of the beach was a roadway for vehicles! There was a ton of vehicle traffic and parked vehicles. It completely ruined the scenic beauty I expect at the beach, not to mention vehicle fumes. I could see allowing vehicles for ADA accessibility to drop and leave the beach, but that isn't what was happening. We left immediately and went a little further down to the gorgeous Matanzas Inlet. Anastasia Park Beach was also pristine and beautiful. If you you love a natural beach setting so not go to the beaches that allow vehicles, it's awful. read more

This is really sad but I've lived in Gainesville 4 years and this is literally the only beach I've ever been to in Florida. It's a wonderful beach... has a small parking lot, a place to rinse off, picnic tables, and a great restaurant right next to it (called South Beach Grill). There is a lot of other restaurants and shopping near by, so for a day trip to the beach it's the perfect place for my family. It's only about a 1 and a half or two hour drive from where we live so it's super convenient. They allow 4x4 vehicles on the beach (which i unfortunately don't have) but hey it's a cool option! This beach is beautiful! We found a parking lot off the main area and had a LONGG bridge to the beach and it was beautiful! The area was secluded also. The walk bridge had some interesting spiders and bugs. It's a little scary but once you make it to the beach, it's perfect. read more

A beauty of a beach. There is parking on the beach for a small fee, or you can park in the lot and walk across the dunes at no cost. Currently, only 4 wheel drive is allowed on the beach, 2 wheel drivers were getting stuck too often. Check St John's county beaches twitter updates. Other beach goers were very friendly and not shy to chat. There was a huge sand pile that many children enjoyed climbing and playing in. Bring a grill and make a day out of it. I didn't think it was too crowded, there were definitely groups of people but not overwhelming. We parked at Mary St., we didn't see any showers to rinse off at, but there were port-a-potties. I really like this beach and will definitely be going back. Sorry Huguenot, I think I have a new spot. read more

My favorite place to go! I grew up going there with my parents long time ago before we moved to Massachusetts. Now I'm back where I'm belong to! I have a dog and I always bring her there because it's so quiet during the week and walking a long way and way back. My dog absolutely love it! I'm happy that my mom recommended me this place! We stay at Beachers Lodge regularly which is on Crescent Beach it's a beautiful beach and is rarely crowded. Great for families.

Beautiful beach! You can even drive your car up on the beach. Sadly if you have a two wheel drive your out of luck because parking is hard to find. I wouldn't recommend this location for surfing though, it isn't the best wave spot. It's best for family and friends who are trying to have a nice beach day. read more
