//Updated review When big projects are completed, there's typically a clause in the work order that specifies debris cleanup. From a recent (unrelated) inspection, we found out that there were pipes and debris left over from the original job from 5 years ago. I reached out to them to schedule a cleanup because this should've been done as part of the original job. Paul gave us a schedule, but no one showed up with no further communication that day. I reached out again and Paul said they had another job go over last time, then gave us another schedule. Another no show. I understand that the job's already paid off so we're at the bottom of the priority list, but it still sucks to be ghosted especially if it's from a mishap from the original work. At this point, we're probably going to have someone else do cleanup. I needed emergency plumbing service and I decided to go with City Plumbing since they were so great last time I used their services. They did not disappoint this time either. I called the number listed in Yelp! A dispatcher took my call and information. I received a text in who my technician would be and when they would arrive. They gave some of the best customer service I have received in a while. Luis came to my home. He was professional and was wearing a mask and put on booties before he entered my home. I knew that was a goos sign. Luis talked me through scenarios and tried a few things to solve my issue and then gave me a clear, concise and fair estimate. After some discussion I agreed to the job. Luis had to make a run to another customer and he would come back as quick as he could. At this point it was the evening and I was afraid this may have to hold off until tomorrow however, true to his word, Luis called me and told me he was on his way. This is the second time we've used them and Paul & City Plumbing are amazing! Three days ago we noticed a small bubble in the paint of one of our bedroom ceilings. There was clearly some kind of pipe leak behind the ceiling. We got Paul on the phone, on a Saturday(!) and he was there the next day, early Sunday morning! He worked with the water restoration company we had also called and quickly identified and repaired a very tricky defect in the piping. These people were called to flush a water heater but the night before a shower handle stripped so that became the priority. They send a Brandon out who looks at the water heater and freaks out because he's never seen or heard of a Watts Valve. He kept trying to sell me a new one even though ours is a 12 year 40 gallon installed in 2017. I took him to the bathroom and here he goes again talking remodeling by breaking open walls and he even went around to the back and ripped the access panel off and when asked why again he's trying to remodel. All we needed was a stripped handle removed so a new valve stem and handle could be installed so we could take a shower. So after he gives us an outrageous quote for both and has to be reminded to glue the access panel back, he leaves but what I didn't notice that in an attempt to sell a new water heater install he sabotaged ours by turning off the gas which shut down the water heater. So after I replaced all 3 shower valve stems (Less then $60.00) and took a shower, my girlfriend came home and attempted to take a shower only to have the water run cold half way through. WOW! He really thought that if he turned off our water heater we would hire them to replace it? There's got to be some sort of crime in this. I have a real plumber coming next week to flush the water heater for $150.00. Just a side note, the estimate mentions a Delta shower valve stem. Luis & Oscar ran a camera through the entire length of our drain, from the entry in the back yard to the street out front, and showed us, in real time, what the issues were. Gaspar, Jose and Sam then spent two days digging through tree roots, cutting concrete, then replacing a segment of our drain, and pouring new concrete. My water heater broke down and after many years needed to be replaced. City Plumbing came out in a Thursday evening on about two hours notice and replaced it. Had to come back the next day to install the copper drainage line. My only beef is that it was not done correctly the first time but after I raised it with them they came back in a week and fixed it so all in all a good recommendation. read more

For the following reasons, I have found the work to be both unprofessional and lacking in customer service: A. First, the plumber pushed hard for the more expensive option--he said that it was far superior to have the drain be buried underground and lead some 80 feet to the backyard of the house. I also confirmed with the plumber that they will slope the trench to this drain. Only later did the plumber say that the asphalt surface sloped steeply to the street--this led me to wonder why the plumber even entertained, and pushed, for the location of the 80 foot, and more expensive drain, opposite the slope. B . Second, during the revised inspection, the plumber pointed clearly to the location of the second drain and said that it would be attached to the exterior short wall all the way to the street. However, later in the day, the plumber attempted to install the drain well above ground with a five foot section about two to three feet in the air! This means that the plumber failed to consider the true slope not once, but twice!! I felt that it was a betrayal of trust I placed in the plumber's professional expertise. C. Third, the plumber failed to remove the asphalt and install the sloped concrete edge leading into the drain. This, in my opinion, could have been very bad for the plumber's company during the next rains, because the defect was allowed to remain even after the plumber indicated that the job was complete. This indicated to me a level of sloppiness and careless attention to the detail--had the plumber did testing with a hose and carefully looked at the estimate, they would have seen that removing the asphalt and installing the concrete was part of the agreed labor. It is unfortunate that despite my lack of professional understanding of plumbing, I was the only one who had to test the drain and ensure that the concrete was installed. In fact (!), it was so obvious that the work was not finished that I waited for them to return--when they did not, I inquired and was told that the job was all finished. D. Fourth, sadly, the job is still not finished. The drain cover has not been installed and is loose. There are screws just sitting there on the asphalt pavement, on top of a red brick. To ensure that the cover remains in place, I placed bricks on top as a temporary measure. Also, an underground cable was not completely buried again into the ground--there is a section near the downspout where the cable is at the surface. Again, I assumed that the plumbers would return to finish the job--instead, the plumber did not reply to my most recent message, and did not reach out to me to say that the job was finished. Instead, I was just emailed an invoice for the remaining amount. For these reasons among others (which Yelp's restriction on word count prevents me from describing) the entire job was characterized by unprofessional, careless work and poor customer relations. He arrived on time, took time to properly assess the work we needed, gave us a reasonable price and started doing the work. He replaced our kitchen faucet because it was leasing and was happy for us to go get the part we wanted from the hardware store the same day! He had to come back to finish the second job to fix the sink stopper because he needed another part to remove an improperly glued sink by the previous owners. Oddly, all the 5 star reviews made me a bit suspicious. Yeah, kinda back asswards right? I've probably watched too many episodes of X-Files and trust no one sunk into my subconscious. None the less, I called City Plumbing and Rooter. Man, I'm glad I did. Not only did they schedule me quicker than expected, but I got a call a day early asking if I wanted the job done sooner - Hell yes I do - awesome! Not too long after that, Brandon showed up and got to work. He was very diligent, and took a lot of care to respect the house, flooring, vanity, and even an overly curious cat named Ollie. He informed me every step of the way about what he was doing, and what he needed to do to fix the problem. Once he explained what he was going to do, a work order was created on his Ipad with the work being done, and the cost. We signed it, and it was emailed to me. The work took an unexpected part of a second day to complete, which didn't bother me because I rather the work be done right, than for it to be done fast just to finish and move on to the next guy. And it was done right. The back to back bathroom sinks now drain as fast as the water flows. And if you're curious, the price remained the same. Brandon cleaned up all the plumbing debris, showed me his work - great. I paid with my credit card, and got the receipt instantly. Really about the only thing they could have done to make me happier is to have said, "You know what kid? It's all on us today." Like that would ever happen - lol. Don't hesitate. Give them a call. David gave me a very reasonable quote for a pipe repair on the outside, hoping for the best. Our kitchen faucet had one temperature: scalding hot. When washing dishes, we had to add ice water to the sink. About a year ago, someone from City Plumbing and Rooter came out. He tried changing a part that regulates the temperature because he said that would be the least expensive option. He had the part on him, so we didn't have to buy one until we saw if it worked. It didn't, so he said we needed a new faucet and to call when we wanted it installed. We were impressed with his trying to save us money. We finally bought a new faucet, but let it sit around for almost a year. You would think we'd be inconvenienced enough to get this taken care of, but procrastination won. Finally, last month we called back and got an appointment quickly. Dominic was as great as the first guy. At first he also thought it was just a part and wanted to make sure we didn't waste money. After explaining we already tried that, he installed the faucet (and went to Home Depot since we still needed the temperature part). It works great! Such a pleasure to have a perfect kitchen faucet again. We also had him uninstall a bulky, unused water filter under the sink. Not only did Dominic do a great job, but he also helped my husband fix our garbage cupboard that wouldn't slide in and out, even though that is totally outside a plumber's job. Our landlord called them to clear a clog in our kitchen sink. Oscar came the same day and was very efficient, comprehensive, and professional. He cleared out the clog quickly, and also found the cause of the problem in our building's larger plumbing system. He made sure to check in on our downstairs neighbor as well to make sure they weren't having any issues, and said he would relay the info to our landlord so that they could look into fixing the system. My sprinkler blew a valve, and water was pouring out and into my neighbors backyard. I called City Plumbing, and they came out quickly. They determined that the sprinkler had blown, and proceeded to repair the blown sprinkler. All good so far! He then called me and asked that I come outside for him to talk to me. He told me that the water pressure in my neighborhood is very high (true), and said that the pressure both to my house and to the sprinklers were too high. He gave me a bid of thousands of dollars to install three regulators and repair some of the sprinkler valves! I told him I needed to get a 2nd opinion before I was going to spend that kind of money. Called a buddy of mine, who is an electrician but very knowledgably about all construction, and he pointed out that my existing pressure regulator showed the pressure at 70 lbs... a little high, but within specs. I asked him if the regulator could be broken, and he said it could be. I then called a different plumbing company, who came out a day later. They tested the water pressure to the house, removing the existing water pressure meter and installing their own. It ALSO showed 70 lbs. of pressure! He said there was no need to add one pressure regulator to service the house, let alone "piggyback two" pressure regulators for the house, as was recommended by City! In fairness... City DID fix my leaking sprinkler. City DID recommend installing a pressure regulator for my sprinkler system, which will cost several hundred dollars, but less the a thousand dollars, let alone the over $3,000 that City quoted to install two regulators to my house, and one for my sprinklers... (FYI.... pressure regulators from Home Depot cost around $50-65... most expensive one I could find was $139....) If City Plumbing has an explanation for why they recommended TWO regulators for a house where the pressure is 70lbs., I'd love to have them post a reply to this review. I recommend everyone get a 2nd or 3rd opinion, before shelling out thousands of dollars for ANY work you may need to have done! Caveat Emptor! read more

On Wednesday, 6/16/21, I contacted City Plumbing and Rooter via their website to have them come out and take care of a sluggish drain, as well as give us estimates on two other jobs: fixture replacement in a bathroom, and reinstallation of a recirc pump on a water heater they replaced in October 2020. Tonya called me back within 2 hrs, and indicated they would call around 2pm with a specific time that day. After that point, things went bad, and I WILL NOT USE CITY PLUMBING AGAIN, NOR DO I RECOMMEND THEM FOR FUTURE USE. Here's what happened. 1. They never quoted a price for the initial service. This didn't bother me at the time, as there was a price on their website. 2. They called around 215pm, indicating someone would be there in 20 minutes. No one showed up. They called again around 430p. Again, promised 20 minutes. No one showed up until 550pm. 3. Someone showed around 550p in a City Plumbing truck. I showed him the work to be performed and explained the estimates required. He attempted to upsell me on a whole house filter (not needed), and said they could connect the recirc pump to the water heater drain, despite there being two inlets explicitly labeled for the recirc pump. 4. When he described the work, he indicated there were two options: an approx $39 teaser that used a narrow cable, and a larger cable that actually cleaned the pipes and had a 2 year warranty for $174. We opted for the latter. 5. He worked for approx 40 minutes. He took a camera to the front drain line (which isn't where the clog was), then came inside and used the narrow cable to pull some hair from the drain. He snaked further, but then said something about dirt in the pipes. In doing this, he broke a screw on the drain cover. The amount of cable he used covered perhaps 60% of the bathroom, no further. 6. He noted, while working in the bathroom, that he was supposed to be wearing shoe coverings but wasn't, and he was a bit inconsistent on his mask (although both of us are vaccinated). 7. Afterwards, he said there was dirt in the pipe in the bedroom area, and that some of the drain lines outside had "dropped". I was starting to get a headache from the heat, but was suspicious. We noted the information. We asked him how much: He said $174 and I gave him a check. I asked for the work receipt that detailed what they did: he indicated it would be emailed the next day. That's what they did with the water heater, so I said OK. 8. After he left, I realized that he actually hadn't snaked far enough in the bathroom to make the claim he did. He also indicated the front cleanout was directional and didn't allow him to snake or run a camera back towards the bedroom: so he had no idea what the line there was like. He hadn't used any other cleanout to investigate. I feel he was attempting to use scare tactics to get us to do major work. Further, he left the drain cover partially attached with sharp edges exposed. I had to remove it and use a mesh strainer I had. 9. As of two days after the service call, we have not received the promised invoice/receipt (meaning the supposed "two year warranty" we paid for is meaningless), nor have we received the estimates we asked for. The drain seems to be draining OK, but that was due to the narrow cable and removing some hair, not the larger cable promised. We feel ripped off. We will not use City Plumbing again, and recommend others to not use them. read more

Hi Lizbeth, Your response still doesn't address. - the whistling kitchen sink I have.. - the pedestal sink ended up still leaking from washing hands, not from washing dishes so it wasn't an overflow issue. Hence why I said that I had an unfunctional sink. If Yelp let me post videos on how it was leaking in 3 different ways I would be happy to post it but snapshots doesnt tell whole story. I only wanted to change the faucet in the bathroom because the hot water knob was not working. I didn't give a negative review because of the courtesy and I was happy with half the installations he did. It just feels unethical to me that I paid 200 dollars to have a working faucet and instead got the opposite and the solution to fix it is 800 dollars on top of the 200 I already spent. read more

I After doing some research I decided on City Plumbing because I liked the standards they spoke about in the description of the company. free estimates family owned & operated trustworthy work fair pricing will provide less expensive options I contacted them to REPLACE a garbage disposal. I did not want to deal with repairs so I decided ahead of time to just replace it with a new one. I was told that they do NOT give free estimates. There is a $25 surcharge for them to come out. It will be applied to the job IF you choose them. Okay, first strike, but I proceeded. I asked if I could get a price for installing a 1/2 horsepower unit if I supply pictures of the disposal and surrounding setup. I was told yes. Okay great. I sent the pictures. I inquired about possibly wanting a 3/4 HP unit also. Tanya said she would find out for me. Great! Here is the response from this "family operated" business: "my service manager let me know the price ranges from $579 to $850 for replacement". I really wanted this job done this week. I already have an estimate from my regular plumber for $325 that I got this morning. He is not available until next week though. That is why I was looking for someone else. Thank you City Plumbing for doing such a great job! We had to have major work done, install new main line, from side of house,thru garage, under garage wall, out to front of house, under a wall to front yard! They started last Monday, finished on Friday. The crew was always very courteous and cleaned up every night before they left. I woke up this morning to a kitchen sink that wouldn't drain. I needed a plumber! Their many 5 star reviews and the fact that this is a family owned business were appealing. Manny arrived even before the time window I'd been given, fixed the problem, checked that no pipes were leaking under the house, and was gone before I knew it.
