Not bad for a thrift store. There were quite a few items as is in unopened packs. I got just couple of disposable Halloween tablecloths and pumpkin decorations. Halloween is not part of my culture, but it is still fun and I do enjoy when excited kids dressed as various characters knock on the door... still need to buy my candy :)... and, I always get to learn which kids program is trending currently, I believe its the k pop demon destroyer something on Netflix... .. hmm Coming back to the store, they have everything from pots, pans, cutlery, jewelry,clothes , and so much more. everything is pretty organized for a thrift store and it's more high end than goodwill. come here everytime we come to kc and love it! A lot of the vintage section has stains and they have a sale almost everday and it's like all clothing and accessories besides white tags, but almost everything is white tags? other than that it's great value and the workers say hello to you when you walk in which is great! read more

The employees are really nice. There are so many shoes and so much to look through! There was nothing bad about it, very decent clothes. I would say some of the prices could go down. I was in here right before Christmas and the Christmas stuff was 50% off, which was a great deal. The selection was still plentiful at that time. Store has a wide variety of different items to choose from and prices aren't too bad on most of the things. It was crowded between the aisles and mostly impossible for 2 people with carts to fit through them at the same time. Service was good except for the manager, which obviously was having a bad day and everyone in her path became aware of the fact! The line backed up quite a ways and only 1 register was open at the time. So she came up to open another register and I was next to go. She said I can only do card and I said okay. Then she left and another woman came to check me out, which I realized I only had cash and told her that's all I had and not a card. She said that was fine and so I proceeded to unload the cart. I went to pay for it and the cashier said I don't have any cash in here? So she called the manager up there. Manager looked at me and said "I told you card only and you said that was fine!" I explained to her I thought I had my cards with me, but all I have is cash. She got upset and told the cashier to type my receipt number in on the other register so I could pay over there. In the meantime, since they were in such a big hurry I lost my discount. The line had subsided by this time as well! read more

I had multiple bad experiences here with quality control, false discount labeling, and overpriced items. Most recently, I bought a game priced $8 in a box that was taped shut, and it turned out it was missing half the contents. I went back and explained what happened, and asked the manager if I could return it for store credit. "For this price and with the box taped shut, I expected all the pieces would be there. Don't you check?" She chuckled and said "Well, this is a thrift store." I understand they couldn't honor the return, but her response told me I can't expect any quality control and honesty behind their goods. read more

Went to this thrift store today, 17 Feb. 2026, Tuesday after checking the store online about discounts given to seniors. I googled the store and it specifically said that seniors are given 30% discount on Tuesdays. Bought some stuff and was told the discount only refers to seniors in Texas. In Kansas City, its on Mondays! I showed the asst. manager my phone where it was specified in Google that it was fir Tuesdays. She said I should complain to HR of the main office. Why should I go all the way to HR when it specifically showed Tuesdays. She said it was Tuesdays years ago but was never fixed in the system! read more

Pricing on overpriced items- ridiculous - they need to check Amazon or eBay. The want more for rusty old tools when you can get brand new for same of half the price they are asking! Also, you can't test any tools to see if they power up or even work yet there is a strict policy of NO returns... say what?!!! Staff chats away while there is a long line of paying customers waiting to be helped and often a shortage of persons helping. You get yelled at - or barked at for going in the wrong entrance even if you have been waiting 5-10 min outside and no one is there to help you after you have paid for item and they say" oh ya, just go to pickup and someone will be there to help you" Manager is condescending to customers and his own helpers while they are dlaving away in the heat and listening to his idiotic "rules" anyone just walking in the secondary drop/ off p/u entrance and says to me and wide eyed young worker- well gee, something could come crashing down on your head!" I look up and point- what, that one sign ?! (that's hung securely) by their store. Such lubricious behavior and rules. I wasn't allowed to measure a car scratching post I was buying when it HAD to fit in my car before I purchased and loaded it - b/c it was in wrong area of store and I could be in danger? Say what? This store is operating in dishonesty. I just left the store They were having a sale orange tax $1 white tax $0.50% off. Yet they didn't have any orange tags on clothing and maybe a few white tags. This is dishonesty. This is called trying to gaslighting and manipulation customers. read more

Don't come here looking to try on outfits. They have no changing rooms and won't let you try on any number of items in the bathroom. I saw multiple people trying to make do out in the open. Pricing is also a little aggressive. My wife commented that at these prices you might as well shop at Ross. All that said the employees were friendly and helpful. read more

I was in need of a dress to wear to dinner on a Friday night, so I decided to drop by City Thrift. I've passed it a million times, but never thought to stop in. I am always leery about thrift shops as a plus size woman, the selections can truly be crappy from time to time. I was surprised to find so many great selections that were all very affordable. I was looking for clothes, but I decided I to do a full walk through, and I discovered they had a little bit of everything. From baby clothes, to furniture, to exercise equipment, they had a lot to offer. I definitely plan to visit again! read more

The staff are amazing. There was one guy that noticed my hands were full and brought me a cart. The cash registers went down and it was a simple breaker but no one had told the manager where the breaker box was so she could fix it. bad on her boss. The prices were high. I saw a 3 piece candle holder from DG with a $5 sticker and they had marked it for 4.99. I also found Walmart brand clothes for 12.99. They do have a last chance rack with $1 items and I scored some things there. Thrifting just doesn't seem like thrifting anymore. read more

Great item selection, the issue is with the young cashier up front. She was going around asking people to tip her $2 & she would give them 50% off everything they bought. Love the staff here and they do their best for speedy service. Always friendly and try to be helpful. The not so good - prices are way too high and rising every month it seems like. I used to shop here a lot, but it is way too expensive for pre-owned clothing and shoes. I have stopped donating here as well b/c I want the customers I donate to get a better value for their dollars and not have to spend $9.99 on a used top. My daughter loves to shop here- not a huge, overwhelming selection and nicely laid out. I like that they take donations and it's a very smooth, easy process- a large sign directs you to the west side of the building, and there's an attendant to help carry things. read more

Lifelong thrifter here- City Thrift boasts VERY unreasonable prices for poor quality items. At least twice as much as Goodwill or Salvation Army. It was decent when they had promos like 50% off men's clothing one day or women's clothing another day. They no longer have these. I've fallen in love with this shop!!!!! My only complaint is that some of the stuff is WAY OVERPRICED!!!! But overall I love how they have Men, Women and Child Sections. And everything is easy to get to and see. Sales are Great.Salespeople are nice and helpful. I've only been thrifting for a short time, but I've noticed that most of the other stores are Selling Cheaper used clothing,shoes,purses, etc. Than this store. Well first off this is a large thrift store with plenty to offer. However, it is the most poorly organized thrift store I've ever been in. I was searching for a particular size of Jean but had to go through multiple racks to find any my size. I would shop here more if I knew I didn't need to set aside a whole day to search through racks and racks of clothes. Also the customer service needs to improve. Working there was actually fun on 77th Wornall until this lil girl katina supervisor over putting high priced tags on cloths didnt like me for being happy joyful and also having my own opinion got in her way!!! Shoping at any thrifht store is cool especially wen dont have money to go to the better stores but being let go because the person that dont like you is having an affair with the boss is sad!!!! Went in again recently and it was much better. The first time, like Kayla, our female cashier didn't say a word to us, even when we tried to start conversation, just our total. This second time around, we got a younger guy, and he was very amicable and more than fair. I thought one item didn't have a price on it, but it turned out that it did; I just hadn't noticed it. When I thought it was too expensive for what I had in mind and I'd probably just end up putting it back, he lowered the price -- unexpected, but appreciated. On another item, it really didn't have a price on it, so he determined a price that was lower than I had anticipated paying. He also made sure to ask us if we needed assistance when we were browsing. I really could have taken or left this place due to the higher pricing than any other local thrift store and their customer service, but if/when we see him working, I'll be much happier to stay, take my time browsing, pick up the items that don't have prices and purchase more.
