Beware of the upsell. I came in for an alignment today and was told that two of my ball joints were disastrously dysfunctional, and that they could not complete an alignment with the car in such a condition. Furthermore I was at risk of an imminent accident and failing inspection. Was given a quote of over $600 to fix. I decided to go get a second opinion. Well while visiting Springfield from Maine for a weekend event, we got a flat tire, one that could not be patched. So after a quick Google search we came to City Tire. We were pleasantly surprised, they were friendly, honest and the turn around had us out the door in just over an hour. They were very down to earth people, the owner was on site and when asked if we wanted the tire warranty he said oh never mind your not local, but did say if we had any ANY problems at all he would find a location, with cooper tires and make things right. Top notch customer service all around. No one plans to have to replace 4 tires (AWD) on a weekend trip but I guess if it does and your in Springfield, MA make City Tire your stop. read more

I was given a good price at Town Fair called city tire to cancel my appointment and was yelled at because I was going back-and-forth. This guy started yelling at me and saying I was risking his job. I was not asking for him to beat the price. I just wanted to cancel my appointment. How do you expect me to even keep an appointment if you're just gonna scream at somebody. read more

Replying to Lizbeth (reviews below) I had a similar experience the day after Thanksgiving 11/29/24. My wife and I are guessing the regular person in charge was off this day. The person in the front desk was very rude to us. As soon as we walked in and approached the desk, he threw his hands up like what do you want. We looked at each other in disbelief. We told him we needed two cars inspected. He told us it would take hours so we waited. We were down by 9am when he called us. We arrived prior to 8am. When I handed him my credit card he said. Don't hand it to me you pay here pointing to the machine. Then after the payment went through, I tried to sign with a pen that didn't work and then he scribbled my signature on the machine and threw the pen on the table and my wife and I were disgusted. We couldn't believe what we were seeing and of course he did it twice because we had two cars inspected. When both payments went through. He stayed quiet didn't say if we were done, not even a thank you. We came here because of the good reviews. The company had received future services. We would probably go to another location hoping we don't see this person again that worked on this day. read more

Brought tires in for repair, after one day the one tire was already flat. When I went back with the tire I was told there is a hole right there. The problem is I never installed the tires. The "hole" that was mentioned is a wear guide, not a punchier. And to make this even worse, was told they can"t fix it today, there to busy. Come back the next day. There are to many tire shops to deal with this level of arrogates. read more

I'd go back again and again after this. I went to City Tire for tires and ended up needeng a bit more work for inspection. Axel being one thing. Ray worked with me and we got it done. Few days later, I thought I may have a loose tire after having them just put on so, I brought it back. When I returned my clutch just went and a puddle of fluid appeared under the car. Turns out the axel was faulty and failed. Ray & Mike were incredibly cool because I was freaking out on the inside. They jumped right to it and fixed my classic right up. Wonderful experience here! I called at opening time to ask what options they had for a flat tire fix, and was told that I could come in as a walk-in after explaining what they do including the price (I believe it's still best to make reservations online). Once I got here, my car was taken in right away - it didn't take any more than 30 min to fix the tire. Best of all, everything including tax was just $20. The staff was also super friendly! City Tire was recommended by a friend and thank them for doing so. I went in for a tire rotation, alignment and balance but also had my oil changed and car inspected (didn't know they did these). I was informed I needed new tires and proceeded to order them and made appointment for installation. Both times I was there the front staff treated me with respect and made me feel valued. If I could give no stars I would. The man at the front desk is extremely rude. The way he spoke to an employee was disgusting. I asked for a quote , gave him my tire size and he questioned whether it was correct. He questioned me on the simple fact that I'm a woman. Ok fine, walked outside with me to verify the size. He looked at the tire, it was the same size I told him. He then proceeded to tell me that wasn't a stock tire size. Opened the door to prove it was in fact the stock size. Had a tire go flat while I was working. They were able to get me in right away and took care of it within 20 minutes. Price including labor was about $100 for one tire. I purchased a complete set of Alenza tires today for my SUV with road hazard insurance, and they performed a 4 wheel alignment. There was no wait to be greeted (I arrived early in the AM). The staff was pleasant and courteous, the owner was on site, and he was willing to review various options. But I know very little about tires. So I did not waste his time going through technical details, and I trusted his choice for my vehicle. Great tires! My wait was brief because they are quick. I barely had time to handle my email and drink a cup of coffee. I think that the SUV rides more smoothly, responsively, and quietly than when first purchased. It is great on the highway. I cannot thank Dan and his staff enough for their expertise and service, and I highly recommend them. read more

Amherst Tire which is a business owned by city tire is across from our office. I had gotten a quote on an installation of 4 tires from a large company. I then realized that maybe I should have gotten a quote from my neighbor and keep the business local. I went to their website and they had the slogan splashed all over that " We Will beat all competitor's quotes.....Period...and give you 5% off that price" I checked to see if they carried that specific brand of tire that I had quoted and was pleased to see that they had the exact tire. When I went in to see the manager with the reciept he said that I must have gotten a special deal and he would lose money if he sold them"I have been trying to have them take that off the website!!" Well, fellow shoppers, beware of the website claims as you do your due diligence as you shop for tires, all that they say may not be TRUE!! ( the one star was for returning my email) read more

My tire went flat this week - apparently I rolled over a nail. So I brought it to City Tire, and they were extremely helpful. First, Zack checked the wear on my tires and determined that, if I could avoid buying a new tire, I'd be much better off, since the rest of the tires only had about 50 percent wear. Then he sent my flat tire in to be checked. Sure enough, it was just a matter of patching the tire. When it was ready, I pulled out my wallet - but Zack had already run my car's plate through the computer and found out that my tires had been purchased here three years ago (my husband did this for me, which is why I didn't remember). So there was absolutely no charge for the repair. In short, I highly recommend buying tires here, because they will do the right thing and not try to sell you tires that you don't need or gouge you. read more

The manager, Travis, and his crew care about you like you are a long time friend, even if they may only help you as you pass through Springfield. As I was about to get on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Lee, exit 2, I noticed that my right rear tire was soft. Since I was on my way to an appointment in Northampton, I had no choice but to put air in the tire and head out. As I got off the Pike in West Springfield I learned my meeting had been canceled so I set out to find a tire repair shop. I walked into City Tire, On Avocado Street in Springfield. Zack, at the counter, could not have been nicer. It was only minutes before my car was in the shop and Chris was working to patch the leak. Within about 30 minutes I was on my way and very, very happy. I would highly recommend City Tire on this experience alone. As I travel back and forth through Springfield, I will find a reason to go to City Tire and have more services performed as a way to say thank you, agai.
