I had the original clutch in my truck for 150,000 miles so I know how to treat my clutch. When it came time to be replaced I took my truck to Spartan because I was visiting my in laws nearby. They replaced it with garbage that lasted 20,000 miles only! But because it had been over the warranty time period they wouldn't honor a replacement. NEVER have work done on your vehicle there if you want quality lasting parts used. The garage that replaced their shoddy work said they'd never seen such cheap metal with parts chipping off. Needed a caliper and brake line They do a good job . This visit not so much . The brake pedal was spongy when I was about to leave upon ready. Also the car had grease marks in and out of the door. The manager was very accommodating when my phone died. Visit was just over three hours due to a parts issue that was not their fault. read more

My car had been stolen and found. I had had oil changes at the Spartan Auto on State st but they recommended the Spartan Auto in West Springfield instead. When I picked up my car I was so happy to have I back i didn't do a thorough inspection. Car was obviously not cleaned much inside- dashboard never wiped off- although front door window had been missing - but I needed my car! Now a few months later I was loading some items behind my front seat and see that under the seat is where all the broken glass was pushed!YUCK! If this is how Spartan Auto in West Springfield cleans up after a job I hesitate to think of the safety of my car that they repaired. I suggest you do not use SpartanAuto in WestSpringfield if you need work done on your car! read more

A huge let down. Don't get mesmerized by all the certificates and decorations. I explained my issue to Joe in detail at the shop. They were to take my vehicle for a long test drive the following day to hear a tapping noise i described. Not only they didn't, Nick said it was crazy and unusual to do so even though i agreed to pay the fee. Then he said I needed four new tires and suspensions that would cost me $3000! All they had to do was test drive the car, hear the noise, point to the real problem and be nice about it. Be careful with this shop. read more

Do not go here!!!! In February 2022 I had my 2013 Chevy Cruze serviced at Spartan Auto in Springfield at the State street location. I paid for the services that were done ($2-300 or more for pcv/valve cover replacement).A few days later my car started  having issues. Oil leaked "everywhere" under my hood which caused my car to smoke, shut down and not operate properly. Along with my heat all of a sudden not working and the car was losing pressure and the motor was "ticking." None of these issues were present prior to me taking my car to Spartan Auto. I took my car back to Spartan auto to inspect in which they "claimed" to find no issues and charged me additional money to service my heat  ($450) and wanted me to pay $500 deposit to repair my head gasket because "Peter" stated that was the issue; not the repair they had done weeks earlier; added "oil" and allowed me to drive home. Due to a deposit request and uncertainty with Spartan's diagnosis of my car... I decided to park my car and use Lyft and Uber to travel "to and from" my place of employment in Northampton which costs me $70.00 a day and I have to pay for bus fare some days. I had my vehicle towed to another auto repair shop  and one that I've used many times in the past (Central Chevy) in W.Spfld and they located and diagnosed the problem- they CONFIRMED that the mechanic at Spartan auto did not repair my car properly  (seal was not placed properly) and that Spartan Auto and the mechanic who serviced my Chevy Cruz were responsible for the damages to my car due to "faulty repair." Myself and the Chevy dealer tech provided this information to Nick and George who BOTH "claimed" to be the Managers who requested that Chevy release my car and for me to give the authorization. I decided not to because they tried scamming me; wouldn't provide me with a loaner car REFUSE to pay for the damages that they caused because NOW they want to "make it right." I am taking them to court  and sue! My motor may be damaged! I want my money back and repairs paid! read more

Double-talk, being made to wait. Three outrageous quotes for a simple job that was being half-covered by my extended service plan. But Nick set out to gouge me for every penny he could. I have three astronomical quotes for the same exact service. I payed the $60 diagnostic, but 2 spark plugs and 2 coils should never be quoted at over $780! Given two other options that were not much better. Nick's and staff were condescending and rude and exaggerated the specialness of 4 spark plugs my care needed. I was made to wait when the paperwork was right there on the counter. I decided not to bite and left with nothing but a headache and three hours of my life wasted. Shady, and I'm not pleased at all. This was such a disappointment as they have been helpful and good in the past. But people change once they feel they have you. Avoid! The state and consumer protection agencies need to look into this. read more

i have a 2008 Volvo xc-70 and brought it to Spartan Auto Care for front suspension issues that were making the car handle very poorly. They quoted me a price that was much lower than the local dealer. i went with them and they did a fantastic job. the car with 135,000 miles on it handles and drives like new. Very happy with the service and they saved me over two hundred dollars over other quotes. They will have all my car repairs in the future. read more
