This was my first apartment. Apon move in my apartment was slowly infested with roaches, causing the loss of about 1000 dollars of furniture when I moved. I was attacked by my neighbors dog. My neighbor who is squatting mind you. The hallways are filled with piss and shit. Packages are stolen on a daily. Tweakers set the fire alarm of weekly. Then when I moved, which I had to break lease early due to the roaches, the complex took my deposit, despite my significant furniture loss and it being 100% not my fault. I keep a clean household. Cant imagine a worse experience without entering straight slum territory. read more

We moved from Los Angeles to Seattle. We didn't have time to view the place in person first so I got a virtual tour from someone in the office. Then when we moved there we were out in a different apartment that was toured. They never took our complaints serious about our neighbors harassing us. We moved out and the folks that moved in after us had their apartment broken into. It's not a safe building and the management doesn't take complaints seriously. I could go on and on but I will just say avoid if you can. read more

Things are really turning around here. There are a lot of safety updates and cleanliness has improved a lot. WARNING: Do NOT live here!!!! The management SUCKS here. They don't care about their tenants. They are NEVER available or in the office and NEVER respond to emails. Packages are stolen. Car break-ins because the garage doors are broken a lot and left open. Which also lets homeless transients just walk right into the garage and up the elevators to our "secured" apartment. Trash everywhere. The place smells. Neighbors using their balconies as storage for trash and will have their dogs in cages out there barking all day during very hot and cold days. Pet feces and urine all over the hallways and stairwells. The garages and hallways have trash all over. There are rats, cockroaches and ants all over. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I will be reporting them to the State Health Department. read more

This is an absolutely disgusting, horrible place to live. I've lived here for almost two years and the past year has been awful. I'm counting down the days until my lease ends. This building has cockroaches. "Pest Control" is here about once a month to spray and has been for the last 8-9 months. The problem is that tenants leave bags of trash all over the hallways and stairwells, and the tiny trash compactor provided by management is not big enough for the number of people living here. There is constantly a giant pile of garbage bags next to it, because people have no where else to put their trash. Of course this attracts roaches, and probably other pests. Management is aware and has done nothing other than post signs asking people not to leave trash in the halls. Other issues I've had here: tenants let their pets poop and pee in the hallways. I've stepped in feces more than once walking down the hallway. Mail/package theft is constant. I've had to get a PO box and start using Amazon lockers in order to get any packages at all. Stolen shopping carts - often filled with rotting trash - are left all over the building. Neighbors yell and fight in the hallways (I have had to call the police for this). The transitional housing facility next door also allows their residents to stand in the courtyard screaming and swearing day and night. One of the elevators is currently out of service because someone took a crowbar to it to the point where it is no longer functional. Who knows if that will ever be fixed. Management does not answer the phone or reply to emails. They are rarely in the office during their posted office hours. No one answers or responds to the "emergency maintenance" line, even when a pipe sprung a leak in the garage and was spraying water everywhere. For a long time we had issues with false fire alarms going off 1-2 times a month and maintenance told us there was a problem on one of the floors that they didn't know how to fix. There was also a period of several months where multiple units had Carbon Monoxide detectors beeping with a "low battery" warning every few minutes. No one ever returned my calls or messages about this. In both cases I had to threaten to call the fire Marshall in order for them to act on it. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, i would. I made the mistake of thinking I'd found a great place. Within the first month my convertible was cut open, 14 other cars broken into, numerous tenants engaged in drug selling which brought the WORST of the worst people to the building. Management was well aware of the many issues and chose not to take any action. Many of us quit paying rent in protest and thankfully, found better places. But the amout of issues that have gotten worse is astounding. They fired the old maintenance guy, who did an amazing job while trying to get support, and hired a different one who does the bare minimum. The garbage piles up now and there is NO garbage service. They hire a junk removal company once a week to come clean it. I use clean very loosely as this has now attracted rats and even more bugs. Most apartments have either roaches or bed bugs or both. This is the BOTTOM OF THE BARREL in apartments. Take my word for it. I have hundreds of photos and videos from the short 6 months I lived there. I beg people to stay FAR AWAY from Allied Residential. They do not care about this property especially. For some reason. They ignore every issue presented to them. Their poor manager has been threatened by a tenant numerous times and that tenant is STILL living there. Said tenant has pulled the fire alarm 3 times in one week, threatened to kill me, my friend and friends 8 year old daughter as well as almost every other tenant. I could list a 1000 more reasons to not live here... read more

It wasn't always 5 stars. When i moves in back in 2016 you could say it was not a great place to live. Maintenance was rarely done in a good tome frame and mail would get stolen along with packages that were supposed to make it to the office. It seemed like the leasing office was always closed even during times where you would think it must be open. Earlier this year Teresa took over and she is on top of of things. She follows up with you if something needed to be done, packages are safe and mail is in the box. She has the hallway carpets replaced and stairwells redone too. She had a lock put in on the stairwell door which had no knob for over 2 years. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs an affordable place to live and have it be close to downtown and on a major bus route. read more

Oh City View Apartments, so much to say about you. To begin on a positive note, this place has a great location. It's right off of the West Seattle Bridge, down the street from Alki, and within walking distance of the junction. The price is pretty decent for the location (we have a one bedroom with an office, for $1025/month). Plus there's decent street parking for those of us who don't want to pay an extra $75/month for an additional parking spot. The building is a little old, and the units are okay looking. It could be worse, yet could be so much better if the management wasn't completely incompetent and/or lazy. To begin with the negatives, City View Apartments allows dogs. Which is fine, however, some residents apparently think it's cool to let their dogs urinate in the common stairwells. This has been a problem for months, and when we confronted the manager Jessica about this issue, she said the building has been professionally cleaned (which is debatable), and that there was 'nothing she could really do about it'. So now we all have to live with the pleasant smell of dog piss, which is awesome in the summer months when it's unbearably hot in the building. Good times. Also, the trash compactor is broken in the building. Instead of having it replaced or fixed, it just sits in the garage. Mounds of trash accumulate throughout the week, and management doesn't seem to be doing anything about it, per usual. See the photo I've posted. And to top it all off, the building has an ant infestation. So, that's fun. I really think this place would be alright if they replaced the manager with someone that actually cared about the property. For the amount of money the residents pay here, it could be a lot nicer. Oh, and I emailed the property managers (ConAm) about these issues, but never heard a response back. read more

This is actually my second time living here. I first lived here 2011 to 2014 and it was not a bad place. Con Am management was actually pretty good with Chrystal as the manager and Haui as the maintenance man. I sold my house in 2017 and moved back. But Allied had taken over and Lanelle and the maintenance guy Jorja were horrible!! Now Allied finally got some great management and great maintenance guys. They have done a great job at cleaning the building up, repairing lights, and completing repairs requests. It also seems that the riff raff has been pushed out as well. I still see some trashing of the building but hopefully those jerks will be gone soon too. Thumbs up to the new management and maintenance team. Keep it up, looking much better. :-) read more

I've been living here for almost 3 years, and I want to stay for another 3. The improvements that have been made are amazing. First the walls were painted which brightened the hallways. Then Teresa replaced the carpet. It's so much better. Everything gets fixed in a timely manner. read more

Allied finally pulled their act together and now has a dedicated maintenance guy named Mat who is incredibly friendly and Lannelle in the office performing administrative functions. This is not meant to be a roast of them in particular because I believe that there is a strong possibility that these people may not be given the tools they need to do their job successfully. I am exactly two months out from my lease end and I can't tell you how relieved I am that exodus is at hand. Bags of garbage line the compactor regardless of whether the compactor is being emptied and the recycling bins are full to overflowing. Mat told me not to put the garbage on the ground if the compactor was empty, but I didn't have the heart to tell him that I regularly find that the compactor is full and the accumulation of bags has already begun. It wasn't any better when ConAm managed this building so I have no idea what's going on. If you can imagine the smell that accompanies all this, you are probably right on the nose (no pun intended). You can also regularly find peoples' old throwaway appliances and furniture down in the trash area which further clutters things despite the sign that says no dumping. About five days ago, I returned home to discover the cat food covered with ants. I am accustomed to finding a lone ant or two in the bathroom once a day, but never this. If I leave the cats' food on the counter now, they appear within minutes and I am regularly wiping them and flushing them. I have placed calls and e-mails with the management but I haven't been visited by pest control. Keep in mind that earlier in my review of this place I also had a flea infestation. Some deep seeded suspicion within me blames the (lack of) control over the garbage dump we live around and pest extermination neglect of a pet-friendly property so close to the greenbelt. Speaking of pet friendly policy, they will not let you duplicate the building key. I was told I could borrow one that I must return, but for those of us that travel for a living and on a last minute basis, that is not an option. No further follow-up from management on that question so I am trying to get my non-Seattle number plugged into the door buzzer system so I can let a pet sitter in remotely. Beware, pet owners, if you travel and do not want to be without your keys. I was given a good deal on my rent so I pay a relatively reasonable amount per month compared with the ever-rising price of living in West Seattle, but I now believe that the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies to apartments as well. I would gladly pay a few hundred more to not suffer under the ravages of insects, garbage and the pallid darkness that I live in even in the middle of the day. They gave me an apartment with stains all over it that I had to buy a 9' x 9' area rug to cover. I am dreading what security deposit nightmare awaits me once I leave, knowing that building management has changed hands and to this day they have no idea who has what parking spot. I have no doubt my photographic evidence of my pre-move in conditions are gone. read more

When I first moved in this was a good deal for the location, and the size of the apartment. Once your moved in and experience a few good ant attacks, and have to avoid stepping in dog droppings everywhere, this changes. This last lease renewal was a mistake. I regret not paying the extra month too month rate. The garbage situation is crazy, the parking garage feels like your in the shining, and rats have been spotted in the lower garage, and the ants are everywhere. Allied Residential just took over this building and what was already a bad situation, got a million times worse. While I've spoken to somebody a couple times on the phone, I've yet to see a living person working. I came home to angry message written all over the office door a day because people with emergencies couldn't reach anybody for days on end. After waiting two hours for a package last week, I caught somebody that wasn't even the manager, opening the office door just to turn the light off, and he tried telling me it was after hours, and I'd have to come back later for my package. Conam was willing to let me out after the pointless attempts to clear the ants and now that I'm ready to leave Allied won't let me go without all the penalty fees. The one star is for the simple fact there is a roof over my head, and the building is semi secure. There is nothing like spending your entire weekend killing ants non stop again and again and again. read more

City Views Apartments removed my respectful yet honest review from Facebook so I thought I'd share here. It read: 1) I've lived in this building for almost 5 years and the building has never been perfect and is what you would expect from a 30+ year old building managed by a 3rd party. The location is great, and just the same currently if you don't drive with the bridge closure. Easy access by bus to downtown and the the junction by foot. I know my neighbors and we seem to have a great group of good people here on the 5th floor and I'm thankful for that. Yet things have gotten progressively worse over the years in many areas and most notably the past 12 months. The things I've noticed: consistent car break-ins. It happened twice to my car and 3 others a second that I know of 1st hand. One woman I talked to said it happened 4 times so she now parks on the street and it hasn't happened since. The thieves made it a point to grab garage door openers as they cleared out cars of whatever they were looking for. So they have had full access with no issues. I'm down in the garage often as it's also my exit to the street and have noticed young men with female lookouts chopping cars and fixing obviously stolen vehicles to move out as they cycled new ones in - our garage was a chop shop! I spoke to police officers blocking the garage maybe two months back and they removed 4 stolen vehicles from the lower garage alone. Management essentially threw their hands up in the air and said our renters insurance covers it since it's "a secured garage." There is still one completely immobile chopped car sitting in the lower garage at this moment and plenty of unmarked unfamiliar vehicles cycling through. 2) 100% of my packages that are left in common areas are stolen. Amazon is the worst as they don't have keys to the storage closet that packages are kept in. There is a lockbox for USPS in the garage mailroom and if you get the regular driver for fedex and ups they have a key to the closet, but there is no guarantee. Management has been stating they are looking into getting cameras for a couple years now and still nothing. 3) trash, filth, needles, dog piss and feces have been a noticeable problem over the past year that sits for weeks at a time in all common areas, both garages, hallways and stairwells. The trash compactor area looks like a landfill hill most of the time - no exaggeration at all. There is trash and clothing hanging from the trees where tenants have just chucked it over their balconies and has been there for months. There is shattered glass everywhere you walk in the garage from all the break-ins. 4) management is a revolving door of property managers that are never here long enough to enact any sustainable change. The maintenance man informed me that the roof of the entire building needs to be replaced at a very hefty $$$ so I'm not optimistic about anything changing or any added benefit to tenants. I've looked at current listing for rent here and laughed. If they even try and raise my rent by a penny, I'm out. You can find far better 1bds for $1800 in and around the city. The bridge was supposed to be open in July so I think they were a bit overzealous with their rent hikes since it's now delayed with no ETA due to a concrete shortage. I love my apartment and most of my neighbors, everything else is a bit of a side show around here. Hope this helps give you some answers you definitely wouldn't get from the leasing agent. I have lived here since June of last year (2018) and while there have been some turnaround in management, they finally have a building manager who is making positive changes to the the quality of the environment and the building. All my work requests have been handled quickly and efficiently and without hesitation. I am happily telling friends who are looking to move about the building. I've lived at City Views for 6 years. It's actually a pretty quiet building. There have been recent changes in management and most of the previous problems (like transients, drugs, etc) has been cleared. They are currently upgrading all the apartments and the building, so it will be nice to see new rugs in the hallways, a refreshed rooftop garden. One thing I do have to say is there are some folks here that make it more of a community and we all watch out for each other and the building. Management has been careful to vet tenants coming in so from here on out there should be an improvement coming in great people that rent here. The new building mgr, Teresa is awesome and gets things done. She cares about everyone in the building as people not numbers. The views are pretty good if you get an apartment on the east side of the building. The bus stop is a block away on Avalon. Luna Park Cafe is close by as well as Ola, Duos and the Pet Care Center. BTW, City Views does take pets, so that's always a good thing. Super close to the Alaska Junction as well as the Admiral Junction which has a great movie theatre with first run films. One could actually forego the rest of Seattle and just stay on this side. read more

I've lived at this apartment building for a year now, and am moving just because I am leaving West Seattle. - light is a bit dim in the apartments facing the greenbelt, but lamps help solve that problem and the quiet you get in exchange is a bonus. - the overall "beige" color is a bit much, but it's better than the stark white walls found in many buildings. - I had new carpet, new counter tops and new flooring in kitchen/bath when moved in. The carpet stains very easily so had to get some carpet stain remover which solved the problem. - No pet rent and no extra fee for a parking space! RARE and a great thing! This was a major decision maker for me. - On major bus lines, near Luna Park, coffee shop, restaurant, and lots of other walkable place. Easy bike riding around everywhere. Easy to get everywhere, basically. - Great sized apartments with lots of closet space. - Appliances could be updated. Loudest dishwasher ever, crappy stove/oven but it works ok, and the fridge doesn't keep greens very long. Eat veggies fast. - Quiet place, good neighbors, private. - Great manager. Super responsive, friendly and professional. One of the best I have had. Gets to know her renters and she knows her stuff. In all, if you are looking for a place to rent in West Seattle that doesn't cost an bundle and then having to pay for "extras" like basic storage because your apartment is the size of a shoebox and you are an adult who actually has clothing and sports equipment, this is a good choice. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE. I did and I regret it. Please read everything. 0 stars if possible. It is good on first appearance but once you move in is when the issues start. The staff is rarely available, maintenance requests are not responded to timely, even if they are serious. I had ants crawling in all corners of my apartment and submitted multiple requests for pest control to come but it never happened. I even woke up with them crawling on me at times. I also had issues of broken appliances and a hole in my ceiling caused by a leak that was left there for weeks. I was overcharged for bills and the property never helped me. I attempted to reach the portfolio manager from Allied Residential multiple times and never got a call back. I lived there for 3 months when I had to hire an attorney to fight the landlord to get out of my lease and get my deposit back. This building should not be in business. read more

I have lived at City Views Apartments for a year and a half and am moving due to job relocation. I really will miss my apartment at City Views and the management staff as well. Compared to Portland the rent was very reasonable for a 700+ sq ft, one bedroom, + den apt. Mine had a view of the West Seattle bridge and the dry docks as well as downtown to the left. I liked that inside my apartment was very quiet even though others on my floor had dogs I couldn't hear them at all. New hall carpets and a super responsive maintenance guy really add to my high opinion. I would live there again if I'm ever transferred back to Seattle. Office staff very professional and accomodating. Garage parking is part of the rent with option to pay for an extra spot. Very close to work (quick commute over the west seattle bridge), clean, affordable, safe. Thanks for a great stay, I enjoyed Alki, and the junction as well as my neighbors, very friendly experience. Location is great, but a lot of issues with the Apt complex. can't seem to mow the grass or clean the patio's off. get covered in moss and mold and become very slippery. they have only one maintenance man who is spread out over a couple of buildings and management is less than desirable. Office never seems to be open regularly. always notes on the office door with crappy excuses and can't never get a hold of office staff. Dog shit all over the grounds and in the stairwells and parking garages. i'm even a pet owner and i still don't see how they let people get away with this. They will go up on your rent after every lease is up and want top dollar for thier units.. currently asking 1300 for a one bedroom. i know the pics look nice, but only getting a fireplace if you live on the 5th floor. Have had some issues with a water leak in my bathroom, that has been leaking since the building was built. they fixed it. i have had several medical problems due to the mold in the place.. they say it's not black mold. lol I asked for an air quality test for my safety, and they declined to do so, so hope your health is not important to you, cause they don't give a rats ass. just want you to pay your rent. the secure parking garages are always getting broken in to and have had 2500.00 bucks worth of damage to my vehicle. office is just oh well, shit happens. And hope ya like the smell of old pee in the stairwells. they say it is professionally cleaned,,, smells bad. I little news for the general people, they charge what they do for rent all over seattle, because people will pay it... We all need to tell apt buildings that enough is enough.. if you can afford 1300 to pay rent, then ya might as well buy a house. Hope this helps some people out of a bad decision. read more
