On 11/7/20, I played 18 up at Butter Brook Golf Course in Carlisle. After finishing, I spent a few minutes talking to my Lexington-bound before he hit the road. It was near sunset at that point. As I walked toward my car a departing female employee walking toward hers asked if I owned the white 1998 Volvo up ahead. At that point, there were only three other cars in the lot--hers, another, and my Volvo. I nodded, and she said, "You're tire exploded!" I'm, like, huh? But, as I get nearer to my car, there it is--a flat right front tire. "Yeah," she added. "It just popped! We all heard it." Knowing I had a fully-inflated spare in the trunk, I told her I'd be on the road in less than five minutes. By the time she pulls out, I'm the only one left in the lot. I instantly discover that the single-socket 12" long lug nut wrench supplied by Volvo was ridiculously ineffective and despite heroic efforts I couldn't budge one wheel stud. Not. One. I had no leverage. I tried so hard I bent the damn wrench handle! So then I'm thinking, because I DO live in Dorchester and I DON'T know ANYONE in the Carlisle area, I'm...dead in the water. I make two quick phone calls to the nearest auto repair places, one has no tow truck, the other cannot help--no driver that day. I expand my search and dial up Joe's. A very pleasant and busy but patient woman answers and advises that their one tow person has "like ten calls going right now." I provide my phone #, my location and add that all I need is a one-minute pit stop: loosen five lug nuts. The woman says, "I'll see what I can do." Two minutes later my cell phone rings and it's Joe's tow truck driver, Andrew, an amiable kid who listens to my quick story and decides, on the spot, while driving to his next destination, "I'll be there in ten, you're in between where I am now and my next stop." Ten minutes later, Andrew wheels into BB-GC's parking lot just as the sun begins to set. Knowing what's needed, he hops out of tow truck, grabs the pneumatic air pump, and hits the studs. Then he wheels over a portable hydraulic lift, jacks me up and leaves me to handle putting on the spare while he writes up the bill. He replaces his pump and jack, hands me the receipt, agrees that Volvo's worthless lug nut wrench might come in handy as a paperweight, accepts my $20 tip, and zips out of the lot toward his next emergency. 1. The woman could've told me, "We're too busy." And hung up. 2. Andrew could've just blown me off, and never called. Both refreshed my belief in and of "paying it forward." My Dad was a mechanic. He taught me how to do the simple repairs that keep cars on the road. Over the years, I've probably pulled off road and helped at least a dozen or so people who were stranded on roadsides, either changing their flats or giving them a jump or, at the very least, getting them to where they were going to be okay. What comes around, goes around, folks. Do the right thing. It'll come back to you, and it'll go forward. My thanks to Andrew, and the kind woman who answered my call. Talk about inconvenient. It was laying on the ground but after it cooled, I was able to wrestle it off. Without the muffler, my Saturn sounded like a B52 and therefore undrivable. I immediately called AAA and was promised a tow within 30 minutes. In less time than that, up comes a clean car carrier from Henry's Towing and Mark, the driver. Clean, neat, courteous and polite. He drove my car onto his flatbed and off we went. I drove with Mark in his truck cab. What? No trash? No coffee cups? No, just like you'd keep your home. It was just a tow but done with no pressure and complete efficiency. Mark and I shook hands at the end. Losing your car temporarily is always a chore but if it has to be loaded to a repair shop, Mark and Henry's Towing is a good first bet.

My car was towed for street sweeping; this was my fault, and I can accept that. When I went to retrieve it, I made some complaints about the driver's behavior and was completely brushed off. I continued to voice my complaints and at that point the younger man working made a literal death threat. (The older man was fine, albeit dismissive of the problem) I don't want to hear anything about 'boys being boys' or any of that type of nonsense. You do NOT make threats to anyone, no matter how frustrating you find them. I filed a police report but likely it will be ignored as all these type of interactions are. I feel very unsafe now because this person literally knows where I live. I am posting this as a warning to anyone who has to deal with them. I would welcome contact from the owner of the company, if any other employee attempts to contact me, I will call the police.

AAA sent a technician, Angel from 3B auto to tow my car from a flat tire…read more Before towing my car, he took a further look and asked what happened. He first checked the spare tire and bounced it off the ground said it was completely fine and usable said he can replace it for me. Then he removed the deflated tire, filled it with air to diagnose where the air was leaking, realize it was from the rims, he used a hammer to quickly fix it back in place. Instead of towing my car immediately, he further diagnosed the issue and fixed it on the spot. Saved me the hassle of even using the spare tire, bringing it to another tire shop to get it fixed. Really saved me the trouble! Angel's service was amazing and couldn't be happier, he was a literal Angel!

I had used West previously so I wasn't anticipating any issues. The car was not operable due to a…read moredrive shifter issue. I called AAA and they referred me to West. We needed to have the car towed from house to the dealer for service. The driver was nice, and very careful loading up the car so everything seemed fine. When I asked him to hand the key to the dealer service rep, he said he'd just drop the car in the first available spot because the dealership is under construction and very busy. I immediately called the dealer to tell them the car would be there in about 30 min. The car was towed to the dealer, but the key was NOT handed to anyone and somehow lost! The driver claimed to have left it in the cup holder yet the dealer valet and service team could not locate it. Now, no one claims responsibility and we're out $200 to replace the key. West claims that it is routine for their drivers to just leave the key, but doesn't it seem reasonable to hand it off to an employee during business hours? Oh, and I had to drive to the dealer to provide the only remaining key so they could work on the car. Again, what seemed like good, careful service was lacking responsibility in something as simple as providing the car key to a dealer employee. I wouldn't recommend West again to deliver a car to a location. It seems it's their policy to drop it and leave.

I strongly urge anyone considering Exotic King to think twice. I brought my vehicle in for a…read moresevere, very obvious coolant leak. Instead of properly diagnosing the issue, I was charged $80 for a coolant cap replacement. I questioned this at the time because the leak was significant, but my concerns were dismissed. AJ was extremely confident. However I drove home and unsurprisingly the coolant was still pouring out. After texting AJ, I was told to come back Monday. Only then did he finally run a diagnostic test and pull an error code. What's incredibly frustrating is that this code has an associated TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that clearly points to a known issue. I later found this information myself with a simple Google search. AJ never mentioned it. Instead, he told me I needed a new water pump and charged me $800 to replace it, even though the TSB does not indicate the water pump as the issue. After six hours of work, I then received a text saying my engine needed to be replaced because coolant had leaked into it. Again, my questions on this were brushed off. AJ came off arrogant and promised this was the only fix. At that point I was skeptical so I had the car towed to another mechanic. They laughed at AJ's claim that the engine needed to be replaced and explained that the TSB repair simply required replacing the exhaust gas recirculation component - a far simpler and far less expensive fix than an engine replacement. AJ is a nice person, and I don't believe there was malicious intent. But the level of negligence, lack of research, poor diagnostic process, and dismissive attitude toward reasonable questions is unacceptable. Charging for unnecessary repairs while missing a documented manufacturer bulletin is not a small mistake, it's a serious competency issue. I would urge you to NOT take your car to Exotic King. He may say he charges less than competitors, but his lack of experience and knowledge will cost you.
