Moved out here not long ago, had a solid reliable and honest mechanic but it's too far from Sudbury. Had a minor oil leak, and I was worried some sheisty random mechanic was going to try to rip me off and charge me an arm and a leg for something simple. Mark was really efficient, communicative and honest - it was just the oil filter, but he had done a thorough check of my truck and saw that the back brakes were in... rough shape, to say the least. I told him to go ahead and deal with those, he didn't even charge me for the filter and oil change after fixing my brakes. Mark is a one man operation and performs all types of mechanical/engine work. I was referred by a good friend who has gone to Mark for years. My vehicle required work that needed to be done, and wasn't one of those things that could wait much longer. I had received a quote from the dealer down the street (nearly $4000) which I had then shared with Mark. Mark's price was less than 1/2 of that. It turned out that I would need an additional item replaced and Mark called me prior to doing the work. He was not pushing me to do it and helped me weigh the pros and cons. He is truly the automotive professional you can refer to as "my mechanic". I had an emergency repair of a broken lower ball joint. The wheel caved in under the car and pulled out the axle with it. I had the car towed to Alexander's and Mark was able to take the job and finish it in two days. I think the price was fair but more importantly I trust his work to be complete and done correctly. Excellent service, I highly recommend. Mark spent a long time trying to diagnose and fix a problem with the gear selector of my automatic transmission (which the Audi dealer had previously failed to fix properly), and I am sure he under-charged me for his time. He is very conscientious and his prices seem reasonable. I have an older vehicle I'm just trying to keep going for another year, and he has not tried to "up-sell" me on products or services which weren't really necessary, and offered a fair assessment as to whether it was safe to skip some repairs. Even though he had spent time diagnosing the problems, he wasn't upset that I chose not to do some of the repairs. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but had to share my experience working with Mark at Alexander Automotive. Talk about going above and beyond! Although I needed a battery change (even though AAA told me it was my starter), the service was excellent - Mark was a pleasure to work with and expenditious in getting my Pilot back to me! He was professional, conscientious and really did go the extra mile for a simple battery change. He took the initiative and called the Honda dealership to get some reset code that was needed. Sudbury and surrounding towns are lucky to have Mark and his stop in town! I am so happy to have found my shop for any car problems/issues going forward. My daughter hit a pot hole leaving Sudbury on the Sunday of the Thanksgivong weekend causing her exhaust system to break. On Monday morning I took the car to another high profile repair shop in Sudbury and received a $1,200 repair estimate that struck me as high, possibly driven by my distressed situation. I left the first shop and went to Alexander Automotive and got the job done that same day for $600. Alexander Automotive did only what needed to be done and at a fair price. And they did the work more quickly than I could have hoped for. Mark explained my options and did some welding as an alternative to replacing some expensive parts. I brought a used vehicle to this shop for a pre-inspection before purchasing it. Besides some minor complaints, it was given a clean bill of health. On this advice I purchased the vehicle. Within 3 months I had discovered roughly $2,500 dollars worth of repairs, none of which had been caught by the pre-inspection performed by Mark. I'd love to give this place a good review, as Mark was very friendly and took the time to answer quite a few of my questions, but I simply am unable to do so based upon the service received. read more

Trustworthy and Price Conscious! I recently had my car serviced at Alexander Automotive Service (Service Engine Soon light was on and my inspection is due). This is the first time I can remember getting a huge smile on my face when the shop called and told me the leak in the evap system was fixed along with tidying up a few loose ends (literally) and the low price surprised me!! No sticker shock after a car repair?? That's new in my world. Each step of the service was clearly explained and I didn't feel like I was being talked down to or taken advantage of. I was even given pictures showing an incorrectly installed belt from the last service station I visited. The belt was corrected without charge, but I will be returning to the shop that performed the work (returning for the last time since I am now a customer of Alexander Automotive Service) for a brand new replacement, should be free of charge since I have evidence of wear caused by the incorrect alignment. This new little shop in Sudbury is great for my peace of mind and bank account. read more

Rarely write reviews but Mark has been so generous with his time and expertise, that I feel compelled... My first experience with Mark was on the phone. I was calling from the Volvo dealership because I had a feeling I was being taken for a ride and Mark patiently went through my options with me. In the end, I realized I was indeed paying a premium at Volvo but I wasn't getting as taken as I had thought. He could have been less honest to get my business but he wasn't. That led me to go to him when I had a flat tire. I explained that I was a New Yorker, hadn't had a car for long (basically didn't know what I was doing...). He could have told me the tire was ruined and I needed a new one, charged me a lot of money and I would never have known the difference. But he didn't. He took my tire off, fixed it, had it done in no time, and put it back on for me... for $26. That was definitely worth a positive review in my opinion. Thanks, Mark! read more

Just have to say that I greatly appreciate the quick, last minute service from this business. My first visit was on a complete whim, and I was so thankful for your speedy services. I called at 5 pm on a Friday evening- was overdue for an oil change, had literally just gotten back from a week vacation, and had to leave town again for a family emergency that same day. I did not feel comfortable making the long drive without getting the oil change, so thankfully, the 5 pm call to you guys was A-OK and you all welcomed me and had the oil change and everything else complete by 6 pm. I was very thankful and appreciative! I will definitely bring my car back here for the next services needed. The only thing that was missed, was windshield wiper fluid... which I am not even sure that you do there? Otherwise, it was perfect! Oh, and great that you have the high quality oil on hand- see you in 10k miles! read more
