I stopped by recently because my check-engine light was on in my 2020 KIA Sorento. I was told that I would have to pay $209 to have diagnostics run. I hesitated, asked a few questions about applying that charge to eventual repair cost and then left mystified. When I got home, I checked with my trusted AI agent to find out about this. I was told that shops do charge to run diagnostics and that $209 was very high, especially given that the charge will not offset the cost of the repair. My agent suggested that I go to AutoZone and for $10 they can retrieve the code that might give a clue as to what the problem is. Among the possible causes for the engine-light was loose gas cap. Low and behold, that was it and for $10 I solved the problem that Sullivan tire would have charged me $209 to discover. Why didn't the technician at the front suggest that before trying scamming me out of $209 unnecessarily? Does he know that? I'm sure he does and Sullivan tire does as well. I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future. read more

My family has gone to this location for tire and other needs for at least 25 yrs. Honest, reliable, realistic in estimating the time it will take to do the job. For the reviewer who expected a quick in-and-out for an oil change, this location has too many customers to regularly provide that sort of on the spot service. That said, we know of folks who've had real vehicle emergencies where Sullivan has taken care of them. read more

Sullivan Tire and Auto Sudbury Ma location. My elderly father brought his vehicle in because the parking brake seemed to be dragging and making noise. He was told he would need new parking brake pads, hardware and cables (the car is 6 years old and low mileage). The estimate was over $1000 dollars. I told him to hold off. I was an ASE Master Technician for 25 years but live far away. A few weeks later I stopped by, disassembled the brake assemblies on both sides. There was absolutely nothing wrong. Cables were rust free, parking brakes shoes had less than 10% wear and just a little brake dust on the hardware. I backed off the adjusters 3 clicks and he hasn't had an issue since. It's pretty sad when a business has such low integrity that they prey on an 85 year old man on a fixed income. I'd stay clear of this business. read more

Instead of saying it might not be possible or they could try the reply from person was - Go to Jiffy lube if you want it sooner or reschedule to a different date (which was illogical). I have been buying my tires there for years and feel like I get a fair price (not always the least expensive, but worth it for the service). I get the hazard protection and have had to use it. Patrick and Casey are great, and work to get me in and out in a timely manner. When I had a flat, they quickly ordered a tire in same day and I was back on the road that afternoon. This was my first time getting my car serviced at Sullivan and I will definitely be coming back. They squeezed me into their very busy schedule last-minute when I explained that I needed to attend a family funeral several hours away in just a few days. The cost for the work was a pleasant surprise after years of going to the Toyota dealership for all my service. The work all seems good so far (routine oil change, tire rotation, and general safety check). Aside from my initial pre-appointment phone conversation with Patrick who was very pleasant & efficient, and the other clients in the waiting area with whom I engaged in some pleasant chit-chat, the balance of my experience here yesterday was entirely negative. I showed up at the crack of dawn for what I thought was booked for the earliest a.m. appointment; however, Casey made it clear I misunderstood and I was grievously inconveniencing him by waiting. Told me "don't you see all these other cars already here?? What do you think they are doing here?" I told him it was frankly none of my business what other cars were doing here, and I make it a practice to mind my own business. He continue to scold me in the waiting area in front of others, telling me he would do what he could but it wasn't going to be his problem if I was still sitting here in three hours a & got mad. By this time I was regretting pre-paying for my services as this isn't how I'm treated when I spend a lot of money in a place that's new to me. Nonetheless, I sat in the clean and pleasant waiting area, conducting some work over wifi. Three hours later, my tires were finally on, at which point Casey said " did you know that your rear sway bar, bushings, and links have been removed ?!?" I assured him that not only did I NOT know that, but also that I had no idea what those things were. He told me they affect my car's stability at highway speeds...so now I was feeling panicky, as I have never had any work of that type done & had no idea how they would have been removed. I told him I'd look into it and asked for a copy of the work form. Casey typed on the form that the items were removed "PRIOR TO ARRIVAL" (was this just in case I was inclined to pull some kind of 'fast one' & trick them into giving me a free sway bar or something LOL?). I left there feeling disrespected, anxious about my car's safety equipment, and just overall disappointed that a choice I had researched so carefully turned out to be such a negative experience. I called my car dealer when I got home and gave them my VIN#. My car is not equipped with the components that Casey said had been removed. I'm not sure whether his allegation was due to malfeasance or ignorance, but as both scenarios are crap I guess it doesn't really matter. I called the shop and told Patrick what I had learned, and told him how very little I had enjoyed my experience working with them, and how angry I was. Shortly thereafter, Casey called me to offer a (clearly coerced) belligerent quasi-apology. At that point I flipped the bitch switch: After a couple of minutes of hearing him squawk in my ear, told him I didn't buy his apology & the entire experience sucked and I hoped to never come back. My dad was a mechanic, and I've got a great mechanic that I've been working with for 10+ years, but Sullivan had the tires I wanted at the right price and they were close by and could get me in in a more timely manner so I thought this would be a good decision. Suffice to say it definitely was not. Lesson learned. read more

This is a late breaking story to add to my review below: I recently got wiper blades, sprung for the expensive ones at Sullivan tire Sudbury, and yes they gave me a slight discount. But they did not hold up, and after three weeks, The wiper blades were useless in the rain. So I went back there today and they stood behind the product, and no waiting they just gave me new blades. I was very happy, until four hours later when I saw what looked to be a huge scratch on my hood. Normally, I don't worry about these things, but I just picked up my car after getting front and work and a brand-new hood yesterday, so it hit me hard. I called them, Patrick said bring it on by but I don't think it was us, and when I got there he was Smart enough to recognize that it was sap, and he got the proper materials right there on the spot and we got the stain out. Perfect hood once again, I love this guy! ---- I am a livery so I rely on my car every day. Brought my Honda in for the winter changeover yesterday and Jane and the crew were very nice to me, noticing I had a license plate bulb out, and also that I had a blemish on one of my snow tires. They also gave me a fairly expensive quote for new tires in the spring. What happen next, makes me want to do more business with them. I took the car home, and within three hours I had a complete flat tire. Unfortunately, I did not notice it until I needed to go out and do a ride with an important client. Sullivan could not have been more supportive. They sent over Keith who apparently took off my wheel, put on my spare, took the wheel back to Sudbury (I'm in Framingham), and repaired it within 1.5 hours, coming back and putting my spare away. He also endured a cut from the razor blade that he found wedged in my tire, and even a spray of foam from my completely useless can tire repair attempt. Thanks again, I'll be back. read more

I don't live in the area and they were kind enough to put my doughnut on so that I could get home to my local garage. Casey could not have been more kind and accommodating. I brought a quote for shocks and strut work from another repair shop and they beat the quote by $200 based on the inspection done by the other shop. When they did the work they saved me an additional $200 as the other shop told me I needed something that was not needed. They did a great job and dropped me off and picked me up at my house. Waited a few months before posting this review just to make sure that the product was up to par. Dropped into the Sudbury location in early June and was greeted by Patrick. I asked for a quote on some summer tires for my car to compare to what I had seen on Tirerack. Was informed that particular tire was not carried by Sullivan (Firestone Firehawk Indy 500), but he is able to order them from tire rack on my behalf and match the shipped cost. This was great because I got the online price and didn't have to lug the the tires into shop for install. He printed my quote, and told me to give him a 2 day lead time when I called to pull the trigger on purchasing. Did so, and they installed the tires and did an alignment in about hour. Bagged 2 of my somewhat decent old tires and put them in the trunk. Also gave me everything I needed to fill out the Firestone rebate form. Overall great deal, great customer service. Side note: The alignment is not a simple upsell tactic, it actually removed all of my steering wheel vibrations read more

I highly recommend Sullivan Tire in Sudbury. They just saved me $2600! We have been coming here for about 15 years now, and today I was truly reminded just how much I trust them. I had been given a quote of $2800 by a dealership, for work/replacements needed on my Toyota. I only went to the dealer for a minor recall fix, and they did a courtesy "safety inspection" that I did not request. Suddenly they said that I needed new tires, new brakes, new calipers, a new timing belt, and several other small repairs/service. When I declined service, they warned me against even driving my car in the next snowstorm because the tires were so bad. Mind you, they were top of the line Michelins driven only half of their guaranteed life, and causing me no trouble at all. I brought my Toyota to Sullivan Tire today, and they looked it over and in the end it only needed $199 of work. They said that my tires were fine (they did rotate them), the brakes and calipers were fine just a little dirty, and the timing belt has another 20K miles. Like me, they were disgusted that the dealership tried to take advantage of me. We have all of our cars serviced at this Sudbury location, and in the last few years we even started bringing my in-laws' cars to them. read more

They fit me into their busy schedule at the last minute and even let me drive myself and my kids back to my house and one of their reps drove my car back to their shop. What fantastic service - this just totally made my day. Last night I was driving home, stuck in traffic on Route 2, when a car pulls up beside me. The guy in the car beside me tells me my back tire is really low. Thank goodness for people like this, as I had no idea! My boyfriend filled it with air for the rest of the drive home, and sees the culprit, a nail through the tie!. (Disclaimer: I am not one of those girls who won't do things them self, but I'm not going to turn down someone who volunteers to do it for me!). This morning I call Sullivan Tire to see if they can fix it. They tell me to come right over and the woman on the phone was super pleasant. They say they'll try to patch it and they'll call if it's not possible. An hour later my phone rings and I'm all set. Patched for less that $30 and ready to go! The reason I am so happy about this visit is that it would have been so easy for them to tell me I needed a new tire. I'm not a fan of other people being in control in situations like these where you know you can easily be taken advantage of. It's nice to know that they're an honest bunch. I hope to never have to see them again, but if that day comes I would definitely go back for any tire issues! read more

Have visited this shop several times. Once for battery replacement, experience was fine. Next visit paid several hundred for a new set of Goodyears. One tire blew after several months but the shop wouldn't replace it or offer a discount on a replacement, whereas my local repair shop told me they would have replaced it when failing so soon after purchase. I wasn't very happy after that experience. This review is based on my latest experience there. Short version for those not interested in the details: Was charged an outrageous amount of money for a botched repair and got nothing but attitude and arguments from the corporate customer service representatives about the price and quality of work. Long version: A couple of weeks ago I brought my car in to get the brakes checked - I had been hearing noises and feeling sticking breaks over previous couple of weeks. The called me and said the front brakes needed work then asked if I wanted them to so some recommended maintenance, which I declined. Their estimate was $500 which I thought was incredibly high, but figured perhaps there was more damage than I had thought. I agreed to the work. Picked up the car and found all they did was replace the pads and rotors for the front. Plus added some services I didn't authorize like inspecting, cleaning and flushing the entire brake system and some other misc service. I told them I was very unhappy with the charges, and the took $50 off the bill - bringing the repair to $450 - still incredibly expensive. Called corporate customer service (spoke to Josh) about the pricing, and specifically because I actually checked pricing on the parts they used gouged me on the price (more than $160 (!!!) over a regular price on Amazon) and while I have no problem with a reasonable markup, this was more like 80%-100%, and that's not including their discounted dealer parts cost. I got nowhere with Josh though we was a nice enough person. Fine, I felt ripped off but was simply not going to ever go back again. Fast forward about 5 days - my car starts making noises again, but incredibly it's actually worse than before - clear sound and feel of metal on metal grinding. I end up taking it back in, and the first report I get from the shop is that the don't hear any noises, don't see anything wrong with car. I called corporate customer service again, spoke to Chris who was disagreeable and argumentative about my previous visit, and the call was getting ugly. The implication on the call was that perhaps I didn't know anything about the brakes, had no reason to think the problem was the brakes, maybe there was no problem at all, etc. He finally said if the shop couldn't find anything, I should go in after work and test drive it. Fine, I agreed. Then he called back shortly and said "the mechanic said the rear brake pads were wearing a bit funny, so we replaced them". Funny?..OK, fine again but I told him I wanted the old parts back, and after work went to get the car. I talk to the counter person, and he shows me the rear brake pads. They are completely worn out, so they were grinding on the rotors. Also, he tells me BOTH rear calipers were freezing up. So basically, my rear brakes were completely bad. Remember my first visit - an $80 item I didn't ask for was a brake flush and inspection and cleaning of my entire brake system, which Sullivan obviously didn't do - and sent me out on the road with completely failing rear brakes, then argued with be about all of it to boot. Good to know as I had just driven the car during the 2.5 foot snowstorm we had just had. Chris never did call me back to follow up, apologize for the charges, the fact they they obviously never even looked at the rear brakes to begin with, didn't look at the closely the 2nd time around until I complained to corporate customer service again, etc. So it's a triple fail; pricing is terrible, they said work was done which wasn't and possibly put me in a dangerous situation, and then two times customer service argued with me about it. They should have refunded the entire repair based on how poorly things went. I really recommend that anyone needing automotive work consider other places. read more
