They sell vehicles that don't run properly in fact I bought a $7000 vehicle from them got 10 miles down the and it sounding funny but we still continue driving home well by halfway the car got worse so we stopped at a gas station smoke was coming out from the hood my husband opened it up and there was oil everywhere so he got a gallon of oil yeah gallon so we could make it home. We took it back they it never leaked a drop of oil when it was hear maybe take it in get the oil change and let us know what they say when took it in to get the oil change the man said your problem isn't the 1. It's got missing bolts from the valve coverand there's wrong bolts on the head. Plus it's leaking oil from both the head and valve cover. So we took the car to a mechanic to see if he could find a oil leak. He did and he said not only that he said that the engine had recently been worked on. We took to our local mechanic and he said he exact same thing. Oh I almost forgot after going back to the carlot and Chris not wanting to work with halfway home the brakes go out due to all the engine problems caused the brake line to melt. So in my opinion if shopping for a nice car it won't be at CJ's. read more

We had to spend another $3400 to have the transmission replaced. July 5th the POS car caught on fire on the way home. I had a trained mechanic look at the car today. He replaced the NOC sensor and informed me that the motor had been swapped at some point. The fuel injectors were all burnt and it would cost more than the cars is worth to repair the engine. We are $7600 into this car and I was offered $169 from pick n pull for the car. WTH!!! PLEASE don't purchase anything from the dealer they are a ripoff dealer. My wife and I have spent so much money and time trying to make this work. I did call and talk to Cris at the dealership today and he offered no help for the piece of crap car they knew was bad. If I could give a 0-star rating I would. I would say all my experiences are mine, I do not have physical proof of the issues just what it looks like on paper and reports from carfax on the truck. Bought a truck here for 8000, it had 107,000 miles on it, 2 weeks later had to put 800 into the intake gaskets and wires and coil packs. 2 Weeks later another 600 for knock sensors. Went to smog it the next year and the CO2 sensors were spaced out to get it to pass smog by the Dealer. Had to remove those and guess what the catalytic converter was bad! Another $600 to replace the cat and pass smog. Now I go to sell it and it had a report ran and come to find out the truck has 235,000 miles on it, so the dealer rolled back the odometer to make it look better. Never buy anything from this dealer totally dishonest and liars! read more

I bought a $6,000 truck here in March hoping to get around 3,000 miles on it before needing major repairs and at this point, I'm $2,500 in and looking at another $10,000 at least to go if I want to keep it. I took the truck into the shop for diagnosis after putting 288 miles on it, less than 3 weeks after purchase and was told it had a bad engine. A second shop verified the diagnosis of the first. So I'm driving a ticking time bomb that could go at any time. And prior to that, I put $2,500 getting the brake system completely rebuilt as it was sold in not in road worthy condition, and also to have the rear-end cleaned up and resealed. Having 2 parents that were both in sales (including cars) before retiring, I failed to heed a very basic lesson for car shopping in California: Only buy an used car from a reputable new car dealership. There is a second lesson as well, that is the dealership knows about 90% of the problems with the vehicle they are selling regardless of what they tell you in the test drive or afterward when pointing to the "As Is" sales contract and claim that you must have caused the damage to the vehicle in that 288 miles or 0.15% of the total miles on the odometer. I bought a 2004 Jeep Liberty At $5500.00 , couple of days after purchase the check engine light turned on !!! a mechanic checked it out and cleared it and he said the dealership breaking the law because it has emission code .they sent me to their mechanic and he replaced the 02 sensor and have ignored me since.I met 3 people that had the same issues after purchase!! I call them, letting them know my disappointment, gave me excuses. I tried to call back and wanted to bring car back to exchange for another vehicle, they didn't answer I called from different they answered. More excuses. I bought a car from CJ Auto Sales in Riverbank. It was a present to my son for his 18th birthday. A nice looking 2017 Chevrolet Sonic LS caught my eye. I test drove it with the salesman and afterwards asked to take it to a nearby auto shop for a diagnostic check-up. I was told that it wasn't allowed but, if I chose to, I could bring an auto mechanic to their lot to look the car over. I decided that without a lift to raise the car up for a mechanic to walk underneath in order to inspect the underside for oil leaks or other problems, I was better off to take it to a shop close to home after I purchase it. A well-known shop in Merced thoroughly inspected the car and recommended that I take the car back and cancel the sale. I was given a list of necessary repairs totaling over $3250. A call to CJ Auto Sales was a waste of time. I spoke with Chris, who tried his best to deny every single repair that was needed. He refused to take the car back even though I offered to have him keep $500 of the money I paid for the $6000 auto. He was also unwilling to help in any way with the cost of repairs. I feel certain that CJ Auto Sales knew this vehicle had major problems but decided to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer. read more

Was at lot before opening, employee arrived at 9:50am, told me he wouldnt be able to help me with a car I picked out for about an hour..I told him I would be back in an hour then..I was back to lot at 11am to which I was told that there was 2 people ahead of me and it will be at least 2 hours before he can help me, at which time I told him he told me to come back in a hour to deal with me and hour ago. He just said sorry..I was ready to buy a car , but this is the second time that this same employee had brushed me off in the past month .maybe more than one employee needs to be on site to deal with more than one customer an hour...I will now not recommend or go back to this lot again..I'm sure I'm not the only person to deal with this non professional conduct.. read more

The place is cheap, So I did not expect much when I went to buy a 1998 Ford Explorer. The lay out is super inconvenient so the Explorer I was interested in was blocked in by 6 cars, So I foolishly decided to trust them and figure since it idles smooth and looks to be in great shape that it will also drive reflecting the positives I was able to see. Nope, Although I know it's my fault for not test driving it I was after all expecting to need to fix a few things. The head unit's display doesn't work, Okay that's fine... Factory subwoofer was blown, that's fine too... But then, The A/C doesn't work. Not cool (no pun intended) and it is a pretty sketchy drive at high speeds. So I got the Explorer up on a lift for a diagnosis... All 4 shocks have blown probably a few years ago and are just there doing nothing, The front upper and lower control arm bushings are shot on both corners, the front transfer case has a leak and was bone dry (hopefully didn't damage anything) and the oil pan leaks... Then just to make sure at least the tires are properly inflated, We found the left front tire was below 20PSI and noted that all 4 were not the correct size, So I started paying attention to it. Ended up having to put air in it every day, So I took it in to have it checked out and the bead was cracked... As a matter of fact, All of the tires were dry and cracking. So I had to buy all 4 tires just so I have some peace of mind. They had those windshield signs on that say stuff like "LOW MILES!" "4X4" "AUTOMATIC!" and so on, But on the Explorer they placed them just right, that it covered 2 huge chips in the glass. The Explorer was $3K, It's a 1998 Eddie Bauer with 126K miles... Aesthetically in great shape, engine seems to be strong, transmission seems to be okay but the suspension needs a complete rebuild and the A/C probably has a clog somewhere or the compressor is bad, it just blows hot air even after I tried to recharge it and the tires were shot... So considering how much it cost and that it needs/needed about $2300 in repairs, The Explorer was grossly over priced. If they did any inspection on the car off the ground or even drove it on the highway you can tell it needed some work. Had they been honest, it would be priced no more than $2K. I take blame for not test driving it... But even for a cheap dealership, considering how much work the Explorer needs it's not such a cheap car anymore. read more

Check engine light came on within 5 miles of leaving the lot. We had test driven and everything SEEMED fine. Got it home and after parking in our driveway for 1 night we noticed it had a leak also. Took it to our mechanic who we trust COMPLETELY. He found multiple issues, including the transmission. Over $2000 later we hopefully will have the vehicle we wanted to begin with. We called and spoke to the owner and he basically said that our mechanic was trying to make some money off of us. No apology or effort to make it right. We purchased a 2002 Ford E-350 Super Duty Wagon, 15 passenger. We experienced awesome service from Brandy and Chris. We did test drive and had no issues. We've had it for 3 weeks now and i had to replace blower motor resistor. $15.00 no big deal. This Big van is 17 years old and we didn't expect it to be show floor condition. So far no major problems, No leaks. Runs Great. I would do business with them again. read more

The experience was a 1 star. I gave it 2 because of the price of the car we bought. It was a cheap car for sure. Here was our experience: saw the car in an ad. Went to see the car and the owner had said no test drives that day because of the weather. We set up an appointment to meet at 1030 the next morning. Showed up and waited 45 minutes and the guy never showed up. Called many times, no answer. Finally left a message and never got a call back. Called later that day and got another appointment (but no apology for ghosting us on the first appointment). He promised he would hold the car for us til our next appointment a few hours later. Prior to the next appointment he called and said he had let another customer look at the car in between and they stole the keys. He would call us back once they figured it out. He did call back and we bought the car. Mind you, we noticed some oil in a weird spot on the engine and asked about it. He promised his mechanic had looked at everything and that had just pooled there from when the engine got derailed. Said they would never sell a car with issues and touted their honesty. While buying the car, they couldn't take a card and didnt really know what a money order was so wouldnt take that, cash only. Didnt have plates on the car and couldn't give us a trip permit, so we had to illegally drive the car home if we wanted it. (Our desperation and stupidly trusting this guy because he was nice, of course we still wanted it) every time we asked about anything they just responded with "well it's a cheap car". Flash forward: we have had the car for 36 hours and it started gushing coolant. Needs a new radiator. So either they lied or their mechanic isnt a capable mechanic. Obviously our desperation and trusting what seemed like a nice guy led us to make a stupid decision in buying this car. But the entire experience was terrible and now we have a car we cant drive without dumping money into it. DO NOT recommend going here not trusting the nice guy persona. Car look great online but when you get there they are obviously been in accidents poor painted bumper not even taken off to reprint won't let you test drive unless u run your credit first what is up with that seems backwards. Should be a fruit stand, not a car lot with their lemons for sale! Test drove their '08 Saturn Astra. (Problem #1) I had a difficult time trying to start the car. The steering wheel was locked so tight I couldn't get it to turn over to start. I tried several times and it wouldn't budge for me. The sales guy started it for me, and went for a test drive. He drove it off the lot, pulled over a little ways away & we switched. When I hopped in the driver's seat, I couldn't get the car out of park & into drive. (Problem #2) The gear stick was so tight, the car salesman told me I had to push on the break HARD before I could get the car into gear. (He then explained that the newer cars had this feature, and you had to press on the break to release it.) I tried a couple times, couldn't get the car into any gear, so the salesman had to get it into gear for me. I drove the car, seemed OK, but I was really concerned about the car NOT being easy to start & NOT going into gear easily. I pulled into the lot, put it in park and tried to get it into gear again - car was stuck and you could NOT get it out of park. The salesman said "Oh that's strange, it's never done that before' and offered to have their mechanic fix it for me there. (Note: there was a lot of glue or silicone around where the stick is. Looks like they've taken the housing off before, to do whatever, and then glued it back.) I told him that was a huge concern but I would leave my number. In the office, leaving my phone number, the salesman said to a coworker that the Saturn was 'acting up/having an issue again.' (AGAIN?) I said nothing, knowing I wouldn't be back. Walked over to my car, which was parked next to the stuck Saturn for sale, and his mechanic had pulled up next to car and proceeded to say to another guy 'the car was stuck again.' (AGAIN?) Later that afternoon, I did receive a phone call about the Saturn. They had 'fixed it' and the guy said 'strangest thing but something got lodged in there and stuck, that's why it wouldn't go into gear. The car was ready if I wanted it.' Basically, I am glad that happened and I did not get stuck buying one of their lemons for sale. I should also note, that the Saturn was parked 3-deep before the test drive. When trying to move the cars to get the Saturn out, 2 of the 3 cars wouldn't start. I am thinking the majority of their cars are jerry-rigged to run just enough to sell and then become someone else's really expensive problem. read more

I bought my first car here a Lexus RX300 and I loved it it was perfect for myself and my two kids. I bought the car as is but as is in the center console area had no power which was fine because I had someone that could the work. Sadlyi had to sell my car because it ended up with a leak. I had it 2 days and right away I called them and tried to get Chris the owner to make it right because it was not safe for my kids and I. But no Chris didn't want to take it back or help me or even try to make it right. Now because of this I have no car and lost out on 1500 cause I sold my car so I can try to get another car... Ili really truly believe the owner of this car lot should make it right because now I have to save up again or get a loan and I honestly shouldn't have to. read more

I worked with the dealer via phone and email, having found that they had a car I had been looking for and wanted. I asked all sorts of questions, especially since I would not be able to travel to the dealership (would be shipping the car and could not find anyone locally to inspect), about the condition of the car both mechanically and cosmetically. While the photos and description of the cars physical condition were accurate, the mechanical condition was a complete lie. The coolant system had been choked up with stop leak and after the car overheated in the first two weeks of ownership, took it to a mechanic who informed me the stop leak was due to a blown head gasket. $2000 later the car was back up and running. If they had been honest about the cars mechanical condition, I would have been fine, just negotiated an appropriate price. Instead when I contacted them about the issue, it all fell on deaf ears. I know it is 'Buyer beware' with a used car, but a little bit of honesty would have gone a long way. Turned out to be just your ordinary, everyday screw job. read more
