I learned about CJ's Nails from Groupon. I very recently got my nails done and overall it was good service at an amazing deal. LOCATION: 5/5 Salon Lofts off Piedmont, right next to Ansley Mall. It's in the same plaza as all the gay clubs. Shared spaces are more and more common and Salon Lofts in a great example of beauty industry shared space in Midtown. The lofts are nice and filled with mostly hairstliyst, a masseuse, eye brow person, and the nail salon. Everyone has their own "office"- with one side being glass so you can see in and out of each room. BOOKING/APT: 5/5 I love the ease of scheduling and rescheduling an appt. I had to reschedule twice and it was so easy. So she uses a great booking system :-). SPACE/DECOR: 4.5/5 Her place was clean, neat, smelled pleasant-- which is all I really ask for. The decor was cute and simple. I appreciate it being clean.... I HATE when these type salons are messy and dirty, so please keep it up! The space comfortably fits CJ + 1 other person. SERVICE: 4/5 Overall, CJ did a good job on me. I got the shellac scrub on both my hands and feet. I liked having the personalized experience. My toes and nails look pretty good... I have some polish on my the sides of fingers and a scratch on my toe, so not perfect but good. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 2/5 This is where the stars fall off. CJ is nice, and I do plan to come back, hopefully over and over, but her attitude isn't always the sweetest. It can come off a bit rude and argumentative. My preference is all sweetness, kindness, and smiles, but I know that's not everyone's personality. She sort of argued with me about little things, which I found a bit bizarre, but who am I too judge. Overall for the price I paid job well done, so I can stomach a few below the breath comments and sideeye, haha... for now anyway. COLORS/SELECTION: 4/5 OPI, Essie, and the special Shellac nail-- which is what I got. I'm SO tired of the rough removal of gel nail polish--- its killing my nails. So I am so close to going back to regular nail polish, but before I do I wanted to try Shellac which is a special mix of both gel and regular polish. I hope this lasts atleast 14 days... I'll update you all. She has a nice selection of colors, but if you're looking for something specific you may want to bring your own just in case. She's a smaller operation so of course she doesn't have the selection a huge 12+ person salon would. SUMMARY: 3/5 Solid. I do think this is a step up from going to the regular asian owned salons- why? Personalized experience, there's not rushing to get to the next customer, no one speaking in other languages you can't understand... all of which I appreciate. There's no free wine or water, but I mean you can bring your own if it's that important PLUS its right next to a bunch of bars. I look forward to updating my review after my next visit :-) UPDATE: ( 1/5) I went again... Her attitude is pretty bad, it's rude and kinda disgusting. She yells at you, she insults you, she's rough with you, and she makes nasty faces. She gave me a "stank" face for asking nicely to put on an extra layer of polish. Literally twisted her face (nose, eyes, lips) as if she just ate a super super sour lemon. Like... who does that? I enjoy the location, I enjoy being the only person there, and I enjoy her prices/deals. But just be prepared to deal with a super stank attitude, with some niceness here and there. Your best bet is to not talk because you never know what might offend her. It's best to be silent, ask for what you want, and then not look at her. I'm taking off a star for the face she gave me. Also, she does pick up the phone when she gets calls btw. I do understand that this is just her personality though, she's somewhat rough around the edges. If she was a pleasant nice sweet person she would have a TON of business, but I don't think she can help herself :-(. CJ, if you ever read this I can guarantee you that you will retain more customers and get LOTS more refferrals if your attitude was better... stop being mean, stop being rude, stop making nasty faces, stop getting an attitude if someone says something you don't like or agree with. Just smile, be nice, be friendly, harness and give out good vibes, pray to God if needed and watch your bank account increase $$$, as well as your happiness. I like the way she takes off gel polish - she uses an automatic filer that has different rounded heads. It was simple neat and clean. I have been a client of CJ's for at least 10 years. I always get a mani/pedi. I wear my nails natural switching between buffed, polished or Shellac. CJ's priority is that you have healthy nails. She uses top shelf, high quality products that are safe. I have severe allergies so I'm very sensitive to smells. CJ's loft is free from all those pesky toxic chemicals and dust you find at strip plaza nail salons. As far as my pedi goes, the products CJ uses get every bit of everything off. My skin, heels and cuticles feel AMAZINGLY SOFT! Even when I think my feet are not bad, after a soak in the magic potion, the truth is revealed. You really need a high quality service to tell the difference between CJ and others. For me, I want to get nail services where I don't have to worry about sanitation, a bunch of toxic chemicals, non knowledgeable techs and questionable quality products. I went to CJ for a shellac mani-pedi and it was fantastic. Not only did she give me a fantastic service, with lots of attention to detail, but we had a really great conversation, too. She filled me in all how Groupon really works (they keep half the money! and they decide what service of yours they will offer, and how much it will be!) so I left as a better informed consumer. I was mislead by the seven reviews that drew me to this place. CJ is in a suite in a remodeled building. The suites have doors, but no ceilings. Therefore you can hear the loud boisterous conversations from the hairstylists. My first time meeting her and she used a lot of profanity. No one's perfect, but I wouldn't want the first words out of my mouth to a brand new customer to be laced with profanity. I was not impressed at all with the quality of service! I only go to American owned salons so I'm basing my experience with her along the same line as those experiences. She was shocked that I found out about her business via Yelp! She said she didn't know people even read reviews. I told her that many people only do business with certain businesses based on reviews whether Yelp, Google, etc. read more

I have to travel from Stone Mountain to get to CJ and it is so worth the drive. I get a basic mani/pedi and love the spa treatment I receive. I enjoy her new location and the massage chair. CJ is the best nail technician ever! I found her on the CND certified nail technicians' site and immediately found her to be extremely well-versed in all of the latest nail preparations and applications. She really knows her craft and most importantly, knows about and values nail health. She constantly keeps up with the latest in nail health and that is not a skill most technicians value. I have been to nail technicians in many cities and went through several here in Atlanta without success because many of them skimp on nail products not knowing how the products interact. CJ takes the time to find the right nail products for your nails and to keep your nails healthy. I learned of CJ through Groupon and after purchasing a mani/pedi, I scheduled an appointment online. When I arrived for my appointment, two men were talking to CJ and when they saw me, one of them said to her that her appointment had arrived. CJ said she didn't have an appointment. I told her I scheduled one online and she maintained she did not have an appointment at that time. She finally grabbed her phone and realized I did have an appointment and asked what I was there for. When I said mani/pedi she said she didn't have time for me because her next appointment was in 20 minutes, and I selected the wrong service online. I told her that her website did not offer a mani/pedi selection, so I picked a manicure and specified what I wanted in the text box for special instructions. She then chastised me for not using her website properly and blamed the time issue on me. I scheduled this appointment on a Wednesday for Saturday which gave her plenty of time to not only see that she had an appointment, but to also read my request in the text box and schedule accordingly. She was pretty rude when she didn't know I had an appointment and was only slightly better once she realized I did. I left and will not go there again.
