Sister is in town and she said seafood sounded good for dinner. Had to go to 2 dudes. Little hole in the wall place but has some of the best seafood around. Started off with a couple of draft beers. I had the mahi grilled with wasabi Cole slaw. You have to try it the Cole slaw. Also with a twice baked potato. Suggested by the waiter. I must've been at this restaurant on the hottest day. It was a scorcher. I had to sit outside and dine because my dog was with me. Our nice server was kind enough to bring water for my dog. The restaurant sits in a strip mall so it only accommodates two tables of four. The food was okay, and they do offer specials. We started with the onion straws. They were lightly seasoned, but we tore into them. My bf liked his tacos and fries. My fish sandwich was okay. It could have used a bit more season. I used lots of condiments. The fries (and spicy ranch) were absolutely solid, the onion straws were yummy and unique, and the taterbombs will definitely be an every-time order for me. Everything is reasonably priced, and the restaurant itself has a great vibe, though it's on the smaller side. I'm giving 4.5 stars mainly because there's still so much on the menu I want to come back and try. Definitely a spot worth visiting! read more

I was looking for an amazing local seafood place. Well, yelp recommended this hole in the wall. As usual, the helpers did not lead me astray! This is a small place in a strip mall. I sat at the bar. I had amazing service by the guy who I found out is the owner. I got 3 of the fresh catch that day. It was some of the best fish and shrimp I have ever had! Then the sides....... I got onion straws and the mango wasabi slaw! Amazing!!!! The best Cole slaw I have had on my 48 years on earth! Yes, that good! Cold beer and great food! Small "hole in the wall" type place in Atlantic Beach. Glad we went for an early dinner since there are only a few tables (they also have bar service). We ordered the tater bombs as an appetizer which I would equate to a large tater tot filled with sour cream, cheese, and tiny bacon pieces. It's a cute local spot. The staff was attentive and sweet. But I was disappointed in the food. A popular place nearby was booked, so I went to this one right around the corner. Got a overly warm glass of wine and fish and chips. That was more batter than fish. It wasn't what I was looking for. And I don't think the price matched the quality of the food either. But hey, the locals love it. Lots of regulars came in while I was there. I just know I won't be back. read more

I'm sad to post this review. This place used to so good :( Honestly the two stars is for the bartender and the playlist. Good tunes and she was great. Wine and beer were fine. The food: Same prices, less portion, horrible quality. We started out with some new appetizer they have with potatoes, cheese, bacon deep fried. The oil was so old it made them look almost black. They looked like fried pieces of human turds. They tasted ok, looked very disgusting. Before new ownership I had no issues doing oyster tacos Baja style. They told me no because of price. Baja style is literally cabbage and tomatoes with a little bit of sauce. I got the oyster skimboard for the same price which had lettuce and tomato on it. Make it make sense?? The oysters were nasty. I took a couple of bites and couldn't figure out what was off about it. I took it home and just tried an oyster by itself and spit it out. So disappointed. Everything used to be fresh. They didn't have raw oysters but they had fried ones. They were obviously frozen. I didn't send it back because there wasn't a manager there. One cook and one bartender. I just love this quaint restaurant nestled in a strip shopping center in Atlantic Beach. The seafood is always fresh and our server/bartender Lauren was fun and personable. I love fresh grilled fish! I love variety and experiencing different and new-to-me flavors and combinations. Two Dudes Seafood has been on my radar for several months. I visit this plaza at least twice a month for the 15 Minutes of Fame Jam Session at Fly's Tie Irish Pub with Shaun Taunton and Shane Platten. But that's usually late in the evening and the beginning of my work week. On this particular day I was bound for Syd and Linda's Seafood. But as you may recall I tend to hit up places on the days they're closed. Luckily I was not out of options. I rolled in around 4:30 for a late lunch after some racquetball. Chelsea and another young lady greeted me right away. The dining area has around six tables and maybe as many bar seats so communication to your server is easy. I like this setup, my dining room is similar. Fresh Catch and specials are colorfully chalked on a board and there is a hand held menu. I love a good crab cake but decided instead on the Crab Mango Quesadilla. It uses lump crab and was really tasty. I was expecting a larger cut but these were smaller slider sized wedges as if they used street taco sized shells. Of course my entrée had to be indulgent so I chose the Pick 3 Hugangus with two sides. My fish selections were Blackened Mahi and Flounder and Grilled Grouper. Sides were sautéed vegetables and Mango Wasabi Slaw. I also purchased an extra side of Hush Puppies. Everything was cooked perfectly. Each filet was firm yet flakey and not fishy at all. The vegetables were also very good and not overdone at all which is tricky when cooking squash and zucchini. The Mango Wasabi Slaw was a huge hit. Each bite was tangy and delightful and really entertained my tastebuds. Chelsea brought me a special Atlantic Beach Aioli to dip my Puppies in. It was a great sauce and I really enjoyed it. I'm a pretty easy diner to serve. I enjoy being served but don't like to make a servers job difficult. Another guest came in shortly after me and this dude was a widget salesman if ever there was. Kind of a know-it-all pompous consumer that isn't a real asshole but sure takes the long way around for ordering. Chelsea did a superb job absorbing every question he had and even gave him a quick geography lesson on where else to eat in the area. Kudos to her for giving great service to both of us. I was happy I came. I enjoyed my meal thoroughly. I would liked to have had bigger portions for the price, or just a lower price. The Hugangus is $38. That's $10 per filet and $8 for slaw and veggies. $62 for the whole meal and for the first time in a long time I was rethinking my frugality. But it's the beach. The fish was fresh. And it didn't smell like a fish market. If you'd like good seafood and good service this is a good choice. There is another Two Dudes in Ponte Vedra but Chelsea explained it's connected to Red's Steakhouse and has a different owner. read more

My mom and I frequent Two Dudes. Her go to is the fish tacos with grilled veggies which are easily the best grilled veggies in Jacksonville, and the blackened and grilled fish tacos are always perfect and tasty regardless of the fish she gets. We often start with the buffalo shrimp appetizer with the sauce on the side because my mom can't do spicy and the shrimp are giant and delicious. My go to is the seafood Cobb salad. They have been out of ingredients the last 2 times I went (avocado one time and mango the next) and it wasn't mentioned, but I still love it. The lime dressing is a perfect pairing for it. I normally take a lot of the salad home and make multiple meals out of it. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover! Two Dudes has great food!! Top that off with $2.50 pints of PBR and you've got a great combo! My wife tried the fish and chips and was very happy with the dish. The fish was cooked to perfection and the batter was crispy and flavorful. The fries were some of the best fries!! They were nice and crispy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. I tried the crab cakes and besides the price, they were unreal! I was a bit skeptical when the dish first came out, but I was quickly impressed with the texture, flavor and consistency of the crab cakes. They weren't too dense and had a nice crisp on the outside. Maybe the best part, both of our kids ate for free! Kids under 8 eat free from their kids menu. My daughter had the fish fingers and fries and ate the whole dish! We may have snuck in a bite or two, but she loved all of it. My son had the chicken fingers and fries and it was very good as well. Our server was nice and friendly and very attentive. We met the owner when we were there as he was making his rounds from table to table. You definitely get the vibe that this is where the locals eat. Two Dudes used to be the "go to" place for seafood in or around Jacksonville's beaches. I always took friends and relatives there because the fresh fish was great and you got a lot for your money. Now, expect to pay a lot more for a LOT less. I had dinner there this week (August 2024) with a friend visiting from Gainesville. We each had the grouper "platter," which now means a piece of grilled fish and a relatively small side. The fish was well cooked and tasty. And the service was great. The problem is that, with two local draft beers, my dinner came to $45 before tip and I left still hungry. With such basic preparation, why is Two Dudes charging so much and skimping on sides (which cost cents on the dollar to serve)? One can get far better fresh fish, more sides, and a more creative preparation at multiple seafood restaurants within walking distance of Two Dudes. I'm very disappointed in the changes to this restaurant. read more

Eaten here on a couple of occasions and have always enjoyed it. For lunch today had grilled grouper tacos with a side of mango wasabi coleslaw, and the blackened grouper tacos with french fries. Only two tacos were loaded enough to be quite filling. The grouper was delicious and perfectly prepared on both. Normally I find blackened to be overly seasoned--tasting hot rather than flavorful. These were perfect. I'm now a fan of blackened fish--at least at Two Dudes. The sides were excellent. French fries are medium cut, fluffy inside, and have a delicious crunchy seasoned outside. The mango wasabi coleslaw was delicious. The wasabi heat is perfectly balanced against the mango sweet making for a great tasting slaw. read more

After hearing about this place many times over the years finally decided to stop in for dinner. We had a party of three and had a oyster dinner, fish and chips, and another dinner. Prompt service with cold beer was good, also food came out in a reasonable time. The negative is this place is hottest as hell. Climate temperature in the restaurant is absurd. Came here for a late dinner after doing a wine tasting nearby. We were seated and given menus immediately. Started with a sangria and draft beer to drink, and the crab quesadilla as the appetizer. Very tasty and just enough to split. For the meal we had the crab blt with hush puppies and the grouper tacos with fries. Both entrees came out quickly and were cooked to perfection. The soft shell crab blt was a unique dish and so flavorful- it's not every day you can order something like this. The highlight of the meal, however, was the blackened grouper tacos. Two huge tacos with tender fresh fish and full of toppings. A must order!! These paired perfectly with the hush puppies, which were so delicious we ended up ordering more. Our waiter Joe was extremely helpful and gave excellent service- he made our experience very enjoyable! We will be back soon. read more

We got take out from this place tonight. We were there between 4:30-5:00pm so I know there is no using the excuse that they were busy... SO HORRIBLE!!! I didn't even get dressing included with my $22 salad that was 1/3 of the size that it was the last time I got it. I ordered the Seafood Cobb salad that was supposed to also include crab meat (no crab meat) and avocado (no avocado). So basically I got a little lettuce with some diced tomatoes and dried up grilled shrimp and a some bacon bits. My husband got the shrimp dinner and everything was over cooked with burnt hush puppies! Our bill totaled $56 plus a tip and we could have gotten a better meal at McDonald's. Another place that we will never return to again! They definitely have gone downhill and are in desperate need of a new cook!! Terribly disappointing! read more

December 2017 - 5 stars Came on a whim as I was craving some seafood. Decided on the oyster platter with fries and their wasabi slaw. Unlike July of this year, today I was blown away. Probably the best fried oysters I've had in quite some time. Plump, juicy, lightly fried with crispy batter but nothing too overwhelming. The seasoned fries were done perfectly and the wasabi mango slaw was spot on. That stuff would be great on a taco, a chicken sandwich, a burger, or a flip flop. Fantastic flavor combination of sweet with heat - not spicy - but you knew there was wasabi. I let the waitress/manager on duty know I was extremely pleased. July 2017 - 3 stars Good food, cool vibe. Ordered the goofy foot which is a combo of 2 items from the chalkboard - except the whole fried snapper (or whatever is the fish being used for the whole fried option). About $24 for a 3-4 oz. piece of fish and 6 mayport shrimp. The combo is served with 2 sides and I went with the twice baked potato and grilled veggies. Shrimp were plump, lightly battered and fried (my choice). Snapper was small and given the part of the fish I was served, it was a challenge to cook it thoroughly so I was left with about 20% undercooked which of course I did not eat. The grilled veggies were a perfectly prepared and seasoned mixture of squash, zucchini, and onions. The twice baked potato is leveled up by being battered and flash fried. I'm sure the skin was meant to be eaten like a potato skin appetizer so I did sneak in a bite but chose to eat just the flesh for the rest of it. More of a 3.5 but took away .5 for value given portions and prices. I would not hesitate coming back but probably wouldn't drive across town to return. read more

This restaurant has been at the beaches for a few years and I never been there until today. Their part on the outside of the shopping strip is nice and clean. They have limited outside seating. The inside appears to be in good condition. Everything is clean. There is little wear and tear. You seat yourself upon entering. The server will bring you a menu almost immediately. The service we got was nice and friendly. She was informative with all our questions. She worked hard and kept all her tables drinks full and needs met. The food was well cooked and seasoned. The food is a bit higher priced compared to other seafood restaurants within a half mile. They do use local fish suppliers. The outside seating is DOG friendly. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, which consisted of a flour tortilla, with three large grilled shrimp, and shredded cabbage,served with aioli sauce. The shrimp were cooked well, but overall it was just shrimp and cabbage, as the sauce was nothing special. I would have liked it to be a little more flavorful, or perhaps have a bit of spice. The side item was a twice baked potato, which is served battered and deep fried. The filing was flavorful, but it seemed to be a little overdone and dried out. I split the 3 fish/2side entree with my dad. We got blackened wahoo, fried grouper and the crusted snapper. The sauce on the snapper was a coconut lime sauce. The snapper was the best. I'm not usually a big sauce guy but it was light but still had good flavor. My fiancée got the fried Mayport shrimp basket. My wife and I went here because of the great Yelp reviews. We definitely were very pleased with the decision to go here. It has that hole in the wall quality to it. But, the food, service and, the amount of food we got for the price totally made it worth our time. The wait staff was very friendly and he was very attentive to keeping our drinks full and get our food out to us in a very timely manner. I'm not even a seafood fan myself but, I did try the crab cakes. I have to admit that they were pretty tasty! I did order the Island Chicken Sandwich for myself. All I can say is ........ Wow! It definitely ranks up there with one of the best Chicken Sandwiches I have ever had. The fries were also some of the best seasoned and tasty french fries I have had the pleasure of eating. However, I can't truthfully say I had the best experience. I'm giving 3 stars to be fair and will return to experience what everyone else reports. I ordered grilled scallops and it was suggested I try the twice baked potato. 6 grilled scallops and two small, twice baked potatoes on the plate. The scallops were undercooked and both the scallops and potatoes were so salty, I couldn't make it through the meal. I didn't try the wine because of the saltiness and instead drank 3 glasses of water. Pricing: I had a scallop basket. 6 grilled scallops and 2 small, twice baked potato. I was charged $23.00. This didn't seem to gel with what I was served or thought the price would be..... but I was with a friend who knew the owner and I didn't want to make a fuss. I look forward to revisiting. read more

Tasty seafood restaurant housed in a pretty unassuming side strip that only the locals probably know about. I ordered the shrimp tacos blackened/jalapeño crust/fried to try each, and my husband ordered the grouper tacos with the jalapeño crust. While his tacos were heartier, the shrimp tacos actually packed more flavor. The fries were so good, crispy on the outside and perfect for dipping into their aioli. Our little one had a chicken tenders basket with grilled zucchini which to our surprise, he liked. The fish option for our little's basket would have been swai but swai is a no-go for us. All in all though, it's a pretty solid spot. The service was great and everyone was friendly.
