However, I was very disappointed with the quality of the alterations to my bridal gown, especially since CJ had me come in for about 6 fittings and it was on the pricier side (about $600 plus $60 tip for almost $700). I met CJ last year-she led a sewing class at Bergamo Montessori School. My 10 year old daughter enjoys hand work but never really sewed with a machine... I was looking for a new alteration shop. Found CJ Sewing on Yelp. Had good reviews so I tried it out. I Took in 4 shirts to be shortened and told it would be done in a week. The morning of pick up, I got a call and was told they were not ready and it would be another week before they were finished. I picked up the shirts and they were shortened as needed. Did a good job, but after two weeks I would expect a good job. Really disappointed in the lack of ability to complete the alterations as agreed. Paid 65.00 for the work, not the highest or lowest price but ok. I was hoping for a good experience as I need a good, fast, quality alteration shop the completes the work as agreed. We needed significant alterations on my son's new tuxedo for his jazz band. It was ordered via a warehouse, so they all had "the same look." Well, the look was not at all flattering, and even after swapping out jacket sizes with warehouse, it still didn't fit well at all. Not a lot to expect from a very low budget $120 suit, but I am sure other parents were just as unhappy. My son is tall and thin, and apparently the tuxedos at that length have substantial room for girth. The suit needed the sleeves and shoulders done, as he plays trumpet - holding your arms up properly is a difficulty if your shoulders or elbows "don't slide easily." When too much material catches in the jacket sleeve or shoulder, it yanks the next time you lift your arms. The pants hems were set at the proper break line, as well as getting the "big hips feature" to be reduced. Cherney took the time to rework the back of his shirt to give it a proper taper fit so he wasn't swimming in it. Upon final fitting, there was only one section which she felt needed tuning (I thought it was fine.) She fixed it then and there, instead of asking us to come back another time. No upcharge either. Cherney's quality tailoring and attention to detail was well worth the cost. read more

I had a tear in some suit pants for work. The tear was in the seam next to the pocket. I called on a Saturday, and expected to book an appointment for a weekday, but she was able to attend me the same day. Since it was a small tear, she had me wait while she fixed them up. She was extremely friendly and she did an awesome job! CJ reinforced the tear so it will be less likely for a tear to reoccur, and all within 15 minutes. I am so glad I found this place. I was one week out from my wedding and last minute decided to take my dress in for some minor alterations. Yes, crazy last minute. Anywho, I was greeted by CJ and she did just as I requested. I had a small, but urgent and critical sewing job that was kind of an oddball - fixing and reinforcing the stitches on a hock sock for my dog. CJ was very helpful! She agreed to take a look at what needed to be done within a few hours, and once I arrived at her business she fixed the item on the spot while I was waiting. She did an amazing job and was very cordial and personable, carrying a good conversation throughout the job. I'm 5'3" and the dress needed a lot of alterations - shortening, work on the top/bust, and she even had to re-work the bottom half of the dress to match my short frame. She did it all! I called to have my wedding dresses altered here as CJ was recommended by my bridal salon. I called months in advance to my wedding and she even told me I was too early to get alterations. She scheduled me for about a month out from my wedding. Initially I was sold at our consultation because she sounded confident and showed me everything she planned clearly. She had a clear timeline and assured me the expensive amount I paid was necessary and worth it. She ended up rescheduling me multiple times, and rushed my dress. When I came in on pickup day (4 days before my wedding!) the dress didn't fit and the bustle didn't work. She rushed my dress to finish the same day and I paid her thinking that everything was fixed and I didn't ask for any money back. I wish I could now. At my wedding my bustle fell apart when I danced, walked, or moved. She used cheap buttons that could not hold the weight of my dress and the cups in the top of my dress are exposed in almost every picture. I am so unhappy with my dress and would never recommend her. She also made uncomfortable comments about the homeless and my tattoos that I never felt comfortable to address with her. Shes a good saleswoman with a terrible product. Go anywhere else. read more
