    Lucid wings and cheese fries
    Alicia B.

Today was my first time going, its was delicious. I got the lucid wings and cheese fries, it was a little wait to make fresh cheese. They gave us peach cobbler and chips as an apology for the wait. Y'all I gotta slight cold so my taste buds and smell not at 100% but baby what i could taste was fire and desire. My 4 year old son BASHED too. They had a sweet and seasoned taste. My son really liked the cheese fries, I cant wait to go back when I feel 100% better. I would definitely go again, Customer Service 10/10, food 10/10, atmosphere 10/10

Me and my two youngest kids decided to try Hendel's for the first time since resturant suggestions…read moreon google maps told me it was only 7 minutes from my house! They definitely did not disappoint! From the moment our food came out, everything smelled amazing. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries with the spinach dip, and I absolutely loved the homemade chips that came with it. My kids got kids' meals and enjoyed their food as well. I also ordered a chicken Philly to-go for my son since it was his birthday, which made the visit even more special. Emma was our server, and she was very nice and attentive throughout our meal. I also loved that they have patio seating it's such a nice option, especially on a beautiful day even though we did not sit outside the patio seating we wanted was not open that night. I also liked how they had merchandise to buy while in the restaurant like tees, sweatshirts, bottles of wine . They also cook books for sale in their resturant by another shop we had recently been to called Made by Lia. That was definitely a nice community touch to show how close the area is to their companions! In addition, we had a great first experience and will definitely be back with the rest of the family!

The building does a lot of the work here: an old place sitting in the middle of Old Town Florissant's residential blocks, with a bar, a dining room, a porch, and a patio we didn't get to use (next cool evening, we will). It's charming, and a real asset to that neighborhood. It is also loud. Old plaster, hard surfaces, not enough hung on the walls to absorb any of it. The old fashioned was solid, sweeter than I prefer. Appetizers were the low point: toasted ravioli thick and hard enough to qualify as gum scratchers (filling was fine), flatbread middle of the road. Then the kitchen found its footing. Parmesan-encrusted chicken won the table, with a nice rice-orzo pilaf and green beans that weren't overcooked. The Jameson whiskey burger came blue cheese, bacon, crispy onions, glaze, brioche, and ate dry (although ordered medium): too many rich flavors, nothing acidic to cut through them. Burnt ends mac and cheese was good and rich, but the brisket wasn't tender as I had hoped. We caught a night with only one dessert (a moist Lemon Sunshine cake that tasted like a Dreamsicle) and ice cream to put beside it. Christy took good care of us, efficiently and strictly by the book. 3.7 out of 5 stars Punch up the apps, and bring some balance to some of the entrees and this would bring up my rating to the low 4s. Bring the relatives who flinch at a menu. Acid somewhere on the plate, tender brisket, ice cream by the cake, and something soft on those walls would move this up quickly.

In addition to their regular menu, DPH always has a Weekly Special Menu. Once I saw what the weekly special pasta was, I had to have it. I am a huge fan of Smoked Salmon and they did theirs in house. The pasta not only had the smoked salmon, it also had sautéed red onion, a tangy European style cream cheese sauce and cavatappi pasta with fried cappers and fresh dill. The cream sauce was perfect. It was just a light covering, enough for flavor without being overwhelming. As always, the portion was healthy, so I had leftovers for the next days lunch. I enjoyed it chilled and it was like eating a cold pasta salad. DPH always gets bonus points from me for having eco-friendly to-go vessels. My adult beverage of choice for the seafood pasta, was a glass of Pinot Gris. I prefer a Grigio, but they only had the Gris. Gris is fairly similar to Grigio. I always say, it's like a first cousin, once removed. Service is always top-notch. It doesn't matter if you are sitting at a table or the bar, you'll be treated right.

I brag about two things in my life.. one I'm a half-Brit/half American, so I will try anything…read moreBritish. The other part about me is that I'm proud of being Southern.. and I mean southern. Mississippi/Louisiana raised. So one thing I do know is cajun food. So I stepped in with very high expectations, as I learned the chef is from New Orleans and you know that means for my reviews. I go twice as tough as usual on my reviews. And even being southern, the description of the Seafood Burger surprised me.. so I just had to. The specialty is the Seafood burger... so how could I not? Me, I probably couldn't tell you everything in it.. so let's just tell you what wasn't.. It wasn't.. "cajun" I dont know, it was one of those where I enjoyed it as seafood cuisine, even southern seafood cuisine, but it didn't stand out to me as being Cajun Cuisine. It was **Very good** seafood cuisine, yes, but there's a difference between the southern seafood and cajun food. I'm going to be a bit generous, even though it wasn't quite what I was expecting, and say this could and should be a 4* eatery, but until I manage to taste the CAJUN part of the Cajun Kitchen, I can't get it that high in the rankings. As for the ambience of the place., it's a quick pick up location (sorta like you'd hope for a food vendor or food truck in New Orleans in the Central Business district (aka, the CBD)) so nothing really pops out and can give you an ambience score. Update: went back later, figuring, I'll try again and see if it works this time.... And while the shop is still listed as being there, it's operating hours were showing it should be open, and the food truck was in the parking lot, but the door was locked up and nobody was around, so I can't hope for any improvement.. and as such gotta drop it down to 3*'s from the 3.5 it was at.

They also have a food truck, so be on the lookout for it during food truck season (March-November). The brick-and-mortar is a small-ish space, looks to be mostly takeout, but there is a really cute table you can sit at and dine in. That's what I did. I got a bowl of gumbo and a bowl of red beans & rice to go as well, and the prices and portions are fair. The owners are super friendly and laid back to boot.

The label clearly has 8/11-8/15 written on it, and I purchased these on August 19. I immediately called Big Amiee to ask about it. Her son answered the phone and then put her on the phone. I explained that the cheesecake had a date of 8/11-8/15 written on the label and that I had just purchased it on August 19. I was told that the numbers written on the cheesecake were not an expiration date, but numbers used by the business. I'm sorry, but 8/11-8/15 sure looks like a date to me, especially when the cheesecake was sold to me on August 19. If that date has another meaning, I would have appreciated an explanation or some type of documentation showing what it represents. What really disappointed me was the customer service. There was no apology, no offer to replace the cheesecake, and no refund. I simply felt like my concern was dismissed. Mistakes can happen, but how you handle a customer's concern matters. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning. I'll also be posting the picture of the label so everyone can see the date for themselves and make their own judgment.

Boneless ribs- great, really good sauce. Vodka Penne- really good, Chicken in lemon and caper sauce- fantastic. Plenty of vegetables on the buffet and a good assortment of deserts. Also $5 Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's. Our waitress was attentive and cleared our plates quickly while we headed back to the buffet for deserts. She kept our drinks filled and asked if we needed anything. The restaurant was full, we had a short wait, without reservations, but pretty much every table was full. Most of the patrons were the "after church" family crowd (assumption on my part). We got the scoop on the owners from 2 elderly women sitting at the table next to us. The had been there many times and were making food suggestions- that's why I opted for the buffet. If you had been to the restaurant when it was The Fin Inn, you'll see they kept the aquariums that line the walls. This time they have more tropical fish- cichlids, goldfish etc. The river fish and snapping turtles are gone (at least in the area I was in). Honestly, I have no idea how they're serving this quality of food for $13. 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend.

If you were a fan of his restaurant in Alton, you're going to love this place, because it's menu is very similar. I stopped by and took a seat at the bar. They have two entrances, one for the bar and another for the dining room. Patio seating with a good view of the Mississippi River is available and it is located off the bar area. The decor is very "retro" and will most likely be part of your conversation. While I sat at the bar, I enjoyed an Extra Dry Martini and a Manhattan. Both were good, with the Martini taking the Blue Ribbon. The menu has a good variety and the prices are affordable, too. I couldn't decide on an entree, so I thought I"d have an appetizer while I figured out what I wanted. One of the waitresses picking up drinks recommended, Lasagna Fritta. She warned me that the serving was large. OMG, she was right. It was so big, I didn't order anything else. I'll have to go back to try an entree. Actually, I told the bartender, adding a salad to the Lasagna Fritta would make a meal. The staff is friendly. Also, they offer a Sunday Brunch which I will be checking out. Grafton was in need of a good brunch restaurant.
