This was a nice little surprise in a strip plaza. The inside was very nice and modern. I decided to split an order of pulled pork sliders to start... And we never tried anything else! Holy bejeezus they were huge! We never moved on to anything else. Plus they brought out a cream cheese dip with "lavash bread" (which was really water crackers) but it was delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender Jana was really great. Friendly, attentive. The only suggestion with the bar? They keep the wine on top of the keg refrigerator and its getting too warm... I really like CJs for my weekly lunch with friends. It's a perfect stop for my soup and salad fix. The bartender never lets my iced tea get empty. Coming to see family here from St. Louis we wanted to buy BBQ for the whole family for our first night here. CJs was mentioned as having some good BBQ. It sounded like a great solution for the 12 family members we needed to feed. My sister called to ask about ordering ahead and Tina (who had no idea what she was doing) said we should call a couple hours prior, so we waited and did. I ordered $200 of BBQ meat and sides and paid in full plus tip over the phone for it to be ready by 6:30. When my nephew went to pick it up the order was lost? I had to get on the phone and speak with someone and they said we shouldn't have ordered it so early. (2 hrs prior). There was a scramble to get some food shoved in containers while he waited and a server sent him on his way. He came back with a smattering of what we ordered and no receipt was provided. We were missing two pounds of meat, pints of coleslaw, a tin of potato chips, and the turkey we got was dry and cold. When we called to ask about the rest of the order and why we didn't have the food I had already paid for, the man on the phone told us we could come and get the rest of it or he would give out a coupon. My sister and I left the rest of the family and told them to eat what we had and we would bring the rest. This is when it gets really surreal...When we asked to speak with the manager or owner as we were told to do over the phone, a man showed up and said "What are you missing" in a curt nasty tone. Then made the comment of "You called it in too early" making us feel like we were in the wrong. then he said that whoever took the order is gone and he has no idea what happened. He got the food we were missing after keeping us waiting while our family ate without us. I asked him for a refund and he took my credit card and started to do what I thought, give me my money back. But instead he gives me a receipt and tells me he gave me a $25 credit. I thought this was so great! Refunding my money and give me a credit for a future meal. NO! He said he could only give me $25 credit on my $200 purchase. The tip was $20 so I would only really get a $5 refund. Now tell me...what kind of manager does that to a customer who just purchased a large meal? Total slap in the face. After he rolled his eyes and told me the credit card machine wouldn't take the money off of my card he asked if half price would work for me. This is 30 mins into the trip back we made. I relented only because I try to support small business since I have one myself and COVID is killing small business owners. He went back to the cash register and brings me $80 and throws them down on the bar and says "here, this is all I can do" He had a $20 in his other hand and I told him I wanted the tip back too. He threw the bill at me and walked away. It's funny how this worked out because less than 24 hrs. earlier my sister's friend told her they walked out of CJs because they waited for 20 minutes to be served and nobody showed up to take an order. As others have said, the restaurant and the staff are both nice. The food,however, totally confounds me. This is the second time I've eaten here. The first time I learned not to order the spicy shrimp tacos (ok, lesson learned -- no one should probably ever order shrimp in a state without a coast. My bad). Today I ordered the slider combo - two cheeseburger, two brisket. What baffles me is why everything is cold (and apparently it's meant to be that way). The slider hamburger patty was at least lukewarm, but not even warm enough to melt the cheese. The bun would be so much more enjoyable if it wasn't cold. Same situation with the brisket sliders, except the meat was not lukewarm - it obviously had just come out of the fridge. I had the shoestring fries last time, which I enjoyed. Today I ordered the "skins," which are these awesome thick, crunchy chips. They'd be ten times more awesome if they were warm. Nope. Stone cold. Ordered the CJ's super nachos tonight as a takeout dinner for my husband and myself. Got home to find no sour cream or guacamole with our order. I called CJ's to let them know and asked that orders be double checked before sending them home. The girl who answered told me the nachos no longer come with sour cream or guacamole. What?? I told her the takeout menu online even stated the nachos came with sour cream and guacamole. She said, yeah, it's a new thing we are supposed to ask people If they want. 1. Nobody asked us and 2. States on the menu it comes with it. Long story short.... was eating out dry $18 nachos to find a long black hair baked right into the cheese. My husband took them back and CJ's handled it very poorly. A manager didn't even speak with him and $18 was basically thrown out of the pick up window at him. The food is extremely over priced for the quality. Our fries were cold, the lettuce was welted and old on the salad bar, and all the food we ordered had little to no taste. It left us wondering why we came here in the first place. We have been here a few times, hoping the food would get better, no such luck. The only thing good about the experience was our service. Had the smaller combo for dinner - the pulled pork was good, the spareribs were tough and chewy - should have ordered the baby backs... I no longer recommend. Waitress acted put out when we asked if they'd wipe the table that they sat us at. It was very wet with chunks of something on it. She looked put out again when I asked if we could get a kids menu for our 7 year old. The food came quick enough but the chicken was dry and the Brocolli had brown spots and we sent it back. My husband and I tried CJ's last evening. We have not dined there in years and won't go back. I ordered the baby backs and a baked potato. The rib meat was dry and tasteless, baked potato was rubber. Arrived on a Monday night,6ish, sat at the bar. Bar maid was attentive and friendly ( she is why it's 2 stars if not for her it would not rate ). Ordered a mini combo, Cj's ribs and smoked chicken. Chicken,was leg and thigh at least a day old and microwaved, meat on leg was jerky like(actually snapped )when I showed the barmaid. The thigh was no better also microwaved too hot to eat right away. Would give less than a star if possible. First off we arrived shortly after 5 o'clock on a Sunday, maybe 12 people in the restaurant. We were seated immediately. We sat at our table with glasses of water for almost 20 minutes. Approximately 6-8 wait staff walked around and never once made eye contact with us or asked us for drink or food orders. Finally a waitress asked us for an order. Our house salads were truly just a iceberg lettuce mix from the grocery store with wilted, slimy lettuce. My baby back ribs were dry and looked far from fresh- only flavor they had were from the bbq sauce. My boyfriend's steak was ordered medium and cooked well- cooked very well done- not an ounce of pink to it. We should have sent everything back to be replaced but getting wait staff would have taken more time then worth it. I usually don't write any kind of review but I couldn't help not to write for for the lunch we just had at CJ's. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and I got tossed salad and steamed veggie with meal. Well the salad was nothing but lettuce and croutons, the broccoli had zero taste. Now for the piece of teriyaki chicken, I have never had chicken served soooo dry. And it was supposed to be teriyaki, well I didn't taste a bit of sauce in the chicken probably because they over cooked it. I drank so much water just to wash down the dry chicken. My husbands meal had potato skins and again very bland, no seasoning. He did like his philly sandwich but really anything dipped in Au Jus sauce will be good. On a good note, the server was nice. . I should have complained about the meal while I was there but I don't like bringing attention to myself. Very disappointed....Will never eat there again. read more

Having frequented this place for a number of years, and having travelled all over the world, I have to say that there is no place like it in any of the exotic locales which I have visited, or lived in. I am writing because I visited twice this week and ordered the same thing, the garlic ribs. My first experience was outstanding. Great taste, good smoke, tender, nice pieces. I substituted hot BBQ sauce for the supplied, Asian-inspired stuff. The match was excellent. Two days later I order the same thing and we go from the sublime to the ridiculous. Nasty, nasty meat, some of which tasted old and perhaps off. It was siting on top of old lettuce. No smoke evident anywhere. I would have given them one star but my first experience required a two. All I can say though is that if you want to be sure of a good meal, by all means, do not go here. Four stars for one meal and dumpster diving for the next do not add up to good odds. read more

Stopped in there for lunch yesterday and it left me in a little awe of how terrible it was. Ordered the endless soup and salad which there was very little soup left and what there was was mush and it was cold. The salad bowl with the reds in it was nearly empty and thought it was a pretty sparse salad bar. Ordered a side of the chips and they were also cold.
