It's been a while since I came here. I usually really enjoyed this spot. Found out today a few years ago it was sold to a new owner. I ordered a egg white omelette with cheddar, onions, mushrooms and spinach. Plus an iced coffee. The food just didn't taste as good as it used to. They had more staff there than I've ever seen before and yet not a single person checked on me. No one asked how the food was, if I needed a refill, if I wanted anything else. Before the people working would do these things and made the visit more pleasant. Anyway, I go to checkout and my bill was $23 ... Honestly, I didn't think anything of it. Paid cash left a tip. It's a bit like stepping into a time capsule which was cute The food wasn't overwhelmingly good nor underwhelming either. The burger tasted like a regular burger should taste. After running passed CJ's for years, my wife and I finally decided to try it and were pleasantly surprised with how good it was! The restaurant is tiny, truly an authentic counter diner with a few additional tables, so expect you may wait. However, once in, the food here is honestly very good. Simple is sometimes the way to go when you want a yum, quick meal outside of the house with children. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful as we came in with 2 young kids (2 and 6 months). They gave them both some toys to play with (which was very nice). They also kept picking up said toys off floor as my youngest kept dropping stuff. Food came out quick, warm and tasty. They brought out our frittata dish, and after two bites we saw that the egg whites and egg yolks on the inside of were completely uncooked and cold. When we showed the server, he gave it back to the chef. They then brought it back to us burnt after throwing the same already cut/eaten dish back on the flat top. That's right, the same flat top they used to cook everyone else meal. Gross. We ordered pancakes, asking for "real butter". The waitress assured us there would be butter but we were served some sort of yellow greasy "pancake spread". She had no idea what we were talking about and just got nasty with us. Yeah, I know it's really tough for food businesses now. But when you cut so many corners that the gruel you serve is barely edible and your help no longer speaks English, why would anyone bother patronizing your business? You can go to the diner or a bagel store for breakfast, but just know you're not going to get a plate this delicious; one cooked with this quality. For this reason, I chose French toast, not my favorite but harder to get right than a waffle. Well let me tell you, this egg-bathed bread was a raucous party in my mouth that made me nearly forget about last night's thanksgiving dinner.
