I also ate there with some friends, and ordered the Cafe Egg sandwich I believe it was called and OMG wow the flavors were delicious and the bread I chose (focaccia) was so so good. This place is beyond cute and recently expanded!! I love a nice, family owned business in the town of RVC. I therefore adore popping in here for some coffee and sometimes a pastry. The owners are beyond nice and make everything in house. I have a number of their muffins and a chocolate croissant. Muffins are definitely the route to go, though the croissant was still good! I'm just more of a muffin person :) I like the coffee as well and I appreciate that they keep almond milk in the fridge for those of us that prefer to nix the dairy from our coffee. They also offer cute knick-knacks in the store such as cards and kitchen towels. I always hold back from buying but I am sure I will cave eventually. Lisa took time explaining the menu and answering all my questions. The menu was amazing in a sense there was something for everyone ranging from meat to non meat options. The sandwich I had was made up of mozzarella tomatoes and balsamic which was finger licking good. Besides how great the food and drinks were it was the price for me. Everything was super affordable and to go on a lunch date and spend 25 dollars and leave full and Happy is mind blowing. Very much impressed by PDPC! My friend asked me to meet her there earlier this year, and we have been going back routinely ever since. Their loaf cakes are so buttery and delicious. Their scones are the perfect balance of crunchy texture on the outside, and soft on the inside. The cinnamon maple scone is definitely my favorite. It's a small step up in usual scone sweetness that makes it great for breakfast or as dessert. The coffee is made fresh and expertly. And for the kids they make a hot chocolate with marshmallows and rainbow sprinkles that turn it different colors. My 5 year old loves coming in with me. If you want something savory they make a type of soufflé for breakfast though I do not recall what it is called. It is made fresh and worth the wait. Check this place out! It's a complete gem and way better than the competing bakeries in the surrounding areas. PS I forgot to comment on the service! Everyone is wonderful, soft spoken and friendly. We visited Polka Dot Pound Cake one afternoon after eating lunch next door. We had delicious tea!! We didn't try the cookies bc we had just eaten!! But everything looked delicious and it smelled so good too!! The room is beautifully decorated and it is very quaint and inviting!! We saw that there was a Mother's Day breakfast coming up a few weeks following our visit...so we made reservations we went!! It was so nice and beautifully done!! Lisa, the owner served us on beautifully set tables and tea sets!! We were served scones, with Devonshire cream and preserves. Brown sugar cinnamon croissant soufflé with maple syrup. Banana bread cream cheese sandwiches. Strawberries, raspberry linzers and of course delicious English breakfast tea, strawberry iced tea and pink lemonade! Everything was sooooo good. I especially liked the soufflé! It was very very fluffy and not too sweet!! Just right! Lisa worked very hard to make this beautiful tea special!! We lingered and were the last ones there. We never felt rushed or pressured to leave!! We also met Carina!! Who took our pictures and was so sweet!! It is definitely a must return for me. When we had visited before, Lisa was very nice to answer all our questions! They also serve lunch and offer seasonal cookies and events!! Everything is baked on premises. Cannot really give a full review as i didn't purchase much. I went there due to it being my g/f's 50th birthday and wanting to get her one of her favorite things. Purchased two of their Linzer Tarts. My girlfriend thought they were excellent!!! How can you not like things that are made on the premises?? I am only about 3/4 of mile away and will have to go back to sample more of their wares. Absolutely delightful and delicious! I had the opportunity to visit Polka Dot Poundcake today and I can't wait to go back! The store is beautiful and the baked goods are a true indulgence. I had the almond croissant which, to me, was a true croissant. So often croissants are mass produced and the wrong texture but this was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. Most importantly the almond filling was generous, 5 Stars! I met the owner who was friendly and shared special details about the Christmas pound cake inspired by her Norwegian roots. I can't wait to have it with coffee tomorrow morning. The gifts are beautiful and thoughtfully displayed. I picked up some extra special Christmas gifts. The owner shared plans for expansion and afternoon tea will be offered. The citrus vinaigrette is delicious, and the breads are great quality. It is beautifully furnished if you are staying, and there are chairs outside as well. The only drawback is difficult parking, so I recommend parking across the street in the lot behind the Greystone Deli. The owner is a sweetheart as well.
