I ordered hash, eggs & home fries!!! They did not disappoint.

We hadn't been to Shelton for a while, and went online to find a place to eat. When I saw home fries on the menu I was extremely happy. Hash browns are ok occasionally, but I much prefer potatoes with peppers and onions. Our server was adorable, and very good at her job. Kept the coffee coming, lol. The restaurant was very clean, and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely looking forward to a return visit

After moving to Shelton about 6 months ago I'd been looking for that perfect breakfast spot and diner. Perhaps not perfect, but CJ's corner is that spot. From hamburger steak, soups, and sandwiches, to french toast, eggs Benedict, and other diner favorites, CJ's delivers. In fact, the breakfast in my photos was so delicious we started eating before taking the pictures. The staff are always friendly and thorough, although they can get backed up when busy. The only real criticism I have is that it's a tad pricey for what it is, and the ambiance could use a little boosting. Lastly, they close at 8pm, which is early for me, but maybe not for Shelton. I think 9 would be a better goal. Aside from that, I everything I've tried here is delicious!

The absolute grime on the windows and ceiling. I'm pretty sure those vents are exhausting FROM the kitchen.

***Can you breathe?*** Just. Don't. Before you get a literal foot in the door you open it to smog. My guess based on the feel of it is that it's a poorly ventilated fryer area or a fryer area with no hood or a never cleaned hood. It's like a fog machine went off indoors. It also looks based on ceiling vents that it's actually venting the kitchen INTO the dining area. There's no way the air quality is meeting OSHA safety standards for their employees or maybe even health department standards. I WOULD NOT bring anyone that has asthma or any other breathing difficulties. We walked into a "seat yourself" situation. An almost empty dining room. Loud staff complaining about how they're going to quit. Picked a table as far as we could from the kitchen. Table grimy. It felt... I can only describe it as caked on. It seemed "as clean as it could get" if you just wiped it down with a wet rag. This is pumice stone gross. Calcium buildup on tubs kind of gross. Points off for sticky menus. Why?! Why are the menus always nasty? Waitress was friendly if forgettable. The best waitresses know how to give and receive small talk. There was none. Food brought out in an average amount of time. Not exceptionally long or fast but time seemed to almost stand still. The dining room was SILENT. No music, no laughter, no tv on in the background. Just a few other people choking on their food or the air. I could literally here one guy slurping from 10 feet away. Food also came out on a chipped plate. That never makes me feel good. You eat your food the whole time worrying about eating ceramic. If you can't afford to replace plates just use the plastic baskets and paper liners for the burgers and fries. Decorations don't make sense. This is diner food with want to be fine dining decor if it was purchased at Ross. Food- better than I expected overall. If they used door dash and you ordered from them the same day they change the oil you might get some pretty decent food you'd be happy about. Overheard the waitress telling another patron "we have to switch our soups for the day". -- "switch" sounds like they found something spoiled. Better verbiage "we sold out of" There was no joy in this establishment. At the end of the meal I got up to use the (filthy) restroom and had fresher air. Wadded up toilet paper on both tanks. Out of seat liners. And the grout is black. I thought looking at my feet it was black grout. But following my eyes to the baseboard it looks like it was originally white. They either need to stain all the grout black or CLEAN. let's hope it's clean. At the end of the day this place felt like something some one opened when they got some inheritance money and zero restaurant MANAGEMENT experience. Food tolerable but no quality controls in place. Originally had it at three stars because I actually liked my burger and fries. Reread my own review and dropped it to two. Found a picture of the broken plate in my photo album on my phone I had forgotten. Dropped it again. Any time you have to worry if the food you're eating will cause your esophagus to bleed.... That should be a one.

This was my second or third time, but the first time in a while. I got the reuben sandwich for dinner. I could do with a little less sauce and a little more meat.. otherwise pretty good sandwich.. waitress is very nice.. not very busy on a Sunday evening about 6:00 pm..

    Watered down chocolate milk

Chocolate milk is 90% milk and 10% chocolate syrup, do not buy here the service is alright but overall I don't like it at all. Ambiance is bad aswell.

This is a terrific local spot. While I enjoyed a late breakfast there was a womens group and teens and couples and seniors all enjoying their choices. My breakfast started with a great cup of coffee and a breakfast perfectly cooked. Eggs over medium and sausages and hash browns and fluffy tasty hotcakes.

Albuquerque Turkey sandwich and bowl of chili and cornbread

Friendly service, every table full, plenty of wait staff, food came out quickly. Arrived around 1030 am on a Sunday. Had the Albuquerque Turkey sandwich with green chilies, was amazing. Kiddo had bowl of chili and cornbread, also good. All of the breakfasts looked good, also. Clearly lots of locals here, and they were friendly to those passing through town. They opened the back room while we were there and it seemed to fill quickly.

They brought out a small chalkboard sign wishing her happy birthday. They also gave her a generous slice of really delicious cake. I tried their Climber Burger which has pepper jelly and peanut butter on it (and bacon!). The thought of peanut butter and jelly on a hamburger seemed odd, but a friend told me that it was really good so I thought I would give it a try. It was delicious! The pepper jelly gives it a little bit of spiciness and the peanut butter blends in with the other flavors better than you might think. They donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of that burger to a local culinary program, which is very cool. I had some dipping tots, which were nice and crispy and apple cole slaw. It's a fun place with a small arcade for the kids and a virtual golf room for the bigger kids. Give them a try if you're in the area! I should have taken some pictures, but the food was so appetizing that it slipped my mind.

In doing our research for a breakfast place, we were slightly hesitant because of the rating. I am very glad we decided to try it. The service was friendly and the food was fast. Overall the establishment is clean and felt cared for. I ordered the Blondies Mess with a biscuit. This was certainly what I was hoping for. Crunchy, meaty, fried diner goodness. The biscuit is certainly on par and what one would hope for. My other half got the Chicken Fried Steak, which was great. This also allowed me to try the gravy that they use for the biscuits and gravy, I would certainly consider getting this next time. It is one of my favorite breakfast foods. For the side on the Chicken Fried Steak, he got a pancake, which another way we judge the quality of this kind of establishment. It was good, one of the better ones I have had recently. That being said...I do not recommend this bar on karaoke nights. Karaoke was supposed to start at 8. We got there at 8:45 and left at 10:00pm. There was no mention of karaoke, no one was singing. I looked to see where to sign up but there was no one near the equipment. I don't know who was playing music but it was terrible and super boring. We asked the bartender where the DJ was and she said he was sitting at a table in the lobby with some "friends". He was not friendly or approachable. As we were leaving one of the men sitting at the table with the DJ (who appeared to be very intoxicated) ramble unintelligible on the microphone and call everyone pussy's several times if they didn't buy his friend a drink for her birthday.
