They desperately need more workers at this establishment , every time I've eaten here there's only been one server and what I can only assume is one kitchen crew; the food and service always takes way too long. The establishment is as if a small house was converted into a restaurant, not enough space. I have waited less and paid less for better quality food than this. Such a cute place and with a wonderful menu. My husband and I ate breakfast at Suzan's over the weekend and it was wonderful. They have a great breakfast menu, so many yummy things to choose from and our waitress was awesome. My husband had the chicken fried steak with poached eggs with sausage gravy and biscuit, and I had two eggs with a veggie patty and hash browns. I passed the hash browns to my husband because the veggie patty was perfect with the eggs. We will definitely stop again when we are in Shelton. read more

Suzan's Grill in Shelton is a cute out of the way little diner for breakfast and lunch. It is small, cozy, and kitchy. We were greeted by Lauren immediately upon entry. She also ended up being our server. The restaurant is adorned with all manner of posters, pictures, and signs. There are coloring books for kids. There was a funny warning sign about the happenings you may overhear when seated near the kitchen. Many local sports teams were represented as well. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict since many previous reviewers recommended them. He said they were just as delicious as expected and inhaled half of the dish before I could even snap a photo. I went with my favorite staple, French Toast. The combo I ordered (the name escapes me) came with 2 slices of vanilla cream french toast, 2 eggs, 4 meat (bacon or sausage), and Homers (Homemade Hashbrowns). I was able to get a decent portion of butter and powdered sugar which is always a must. Everything was tasty, although I prefer thicker sliced bacon than what was served. Also, I don't really eat eggs that much, but there was no way to not get them and get the rest of what I wanted. The "Express" comes with all the same minus that Homers and they wouldn't allow any substitution. I found that odd... since it was a minuscule portion of potatoes and eggs are quite pricey these days so I would have been saving them money with the swap, but I guess they made out since I had to upgrade to a bigger meal to get what I wanted. The French toast was good, the sausage was delicious, the bacon was ok, and as stated... they could have had a bigger portion of Homers. Our server, Lauren was delightful and helpful. There was another server there as well and both seemed to help each other out with coffee refills, checking on each others tables, and even with running food. It's nice to see that kind of teamwork and it's better for the customers as well. Just a few critical points to make... the front face of the building which is a vibrant yellow in many older photos is now dingy and covered in dirt (as seen in my photos). It is long overdue for a pressure wash. I often worry about cleanliness inside a kitchen when I see the exterior of a place so neglected. Also, the menu had a strange and slightly off-putting warning imploring guests to "not waste drinking water". I'm not one to waste drinking water... but now I felt compelled to finish mine. I wish there was a 3 1/2 star option, I would give this place 4 stars, but there's just too many little quirks. I see 3 as average and this was above average but just by a smidge. I would still recommend Suzan's if you are in the area and looking for an affordable tasty breakfast. read more

This small hole in the wall diner is cozy and comfortable. The menu is pretty full. Came in for an early lunch, and ended up getting a veggie omelette and a cup of coffee. I was with a group of five people, ordering separately, and our food came out fairly quickly. (One in our group did wait a few min longer) The omelette was very good, hashbrowns were tasty. Everyone else spoke highly of their food. It's also fairly inexpensive for this day and age. Definitely will be going back. read more

This small diner in Shelton is hands down the best breakfast in town. I'd put their eggs Benedict or hash browns up against any fancy restaurant. The hollandaise is amazing, eggs always perfectly poached every time. My boyfriend always gets traditional and I get the veggie Benedict made with a tomato and avocado rather than the Canadian bacon. Lunch is also really wonderful here. The menu is huge and everything I've ever tried has been great. The prices are awesome, the people that run it are awesome, I can't say enough about it. The outside of Suzan's doesn't do the inside justice. This is a wonderful place to eat and the locals love it too. You get a lot of tasty food for your money. SOOOO GOOD! Highly recommend. Service is a little slow but with one waitress and a full restaurant, no surprises there. That said, 100% worth the wait. Server was amazing and attentive, food was perfection (I had chicken and waffles which you can't find everywhere) chicken was crispy and moist, waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We loved this place in the past. Looked forward to returning for breakfast after about 3 years. Place was pretty busy as usual about 10:00 on a Wednesday. After seating ourselves we were abruptly greeted by our server ( manager or owner?) who looked stressed and was less than pleasant, ugh. We got coffee ( which was big mistake as it was terrible) and soon ordered. The menu is just too large and actually had two separate menus some items sounding nearly like duplicates, too much to read. Finally decided and ordered. We waited and waited and our meal's finally came out like 40-45 mins later, no apology of course. In the meantime people had finished and left but the tables stayed uncleared. We witnessed at least two couples and a single gal come in and stand waiting for acknowledgment or tables to be cleaned but because that didn't happen they all left. Not good!!! Hubby's eggs Benedict had firm poached eggs ( a big no no) and hash browns weren't home fries as described and weren't crispy as requested plus English muffin hard! My waffle was fine, scrambled eggs barely warm and bacon kind of wimpy. Was this the same place we'd enjoyed and recommended so many times?? What a shame. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

We were craving some good diner food, and this hit the spot. The food was great - biscuits and gravy tasted homemade, sausage links had a nice sear, hash browns had some good crisp on them. The place is small, maybe 12 tables. We went on a Friday around noon and there were some open spots, so no waiting. Our server brought us menu's quickly and everything was done in a timely fashion. The decor is interesting, it's a bit of a hodgepodge but I really liked their Bob's Burgers art in the entry way. It was very fitting. read more

Stopped in here while visiting Shelton for the week. Seems like a locals place. It is a small, seat yourself place, the menu is extensive. We came about noon and all 12 tables were full with 1 waiter so we had to wait a few minutes to get a table. The service was slow but he was very busy and we weren't in a hurry so no bother to us. My sister and I wanted to treat our dad to breakfast and Suzan's was recommended to us. It is a cute little place. Fun decor, cozy, clean, nothing fancy and that is great! We seated ourselves at a table sporting Seahawks and Mariner's decor. Go local teams! The menu is extensive! I didn't read through it all because there is simply so much! But what I did read was really great. They have funny headlines for the various sections. Things like "Random Acts of Breakfast." And the descriptions for the menu items are thorough and entertaining, making each item sound super appealing. I almost always order a savory breakfast after spending a few minutes drooling over the sweet options. I was super excited to a Monte Cristo on the menu so that I could have a little bit of sweet with my savory. It was super tasty, falling apart just enough, and came with hashbrowns. I would have liked a little more egg coating on my sandwich but overall it was really good. My dad, predictably, got the Chicken Fried Steak and he cleaned his plate so I'm guessing it was good! My sister got an omelet, sorry I'm not sure which one but I can guarantee you it didn't have mushrooms in it! It came with hashbrowns and toast and jam. Of course we got those little individual jam packets which are good but given the downhome feel of this place it would be nice to see a good jar of local jam and get away from the single-use plastics. My partner and I ate here several weeks ago, besides a long thirty-minute wai. We had good service; her food was undercooked and lacked flavor. My eggs Benedict was excellent! So yesterday, driving through, I brought my kids. Sat right away--clean and inviting restaurant with good service. The food was excellent with large portions. We went for breakfast this morning. Walked in found a table looked over there was a guy sleeping at a 2 top. Ask our waiter Mike what the deal is here. He said he was there when he came in, and it was the owner's son. It took us like 45 minutes for our food. Then my over easy eggs were so raw I could not even eat them. My wife's sausage scramble was like an omelet with crappy hash browns on the side. The waiter Mike was ok, not his fault. This was our third time in many years. DONE. Ahhh, small town diners. This is a good one too, located in the midst of Shelton's franchise row. I spent all morning and into the afternoon taking photos on Hood Canal. On my way home (via the Union Truck Trail), I stopped here for a piece of pie and coffee, which ended up being a late breakfast (It was 3PM). Yup, they serve brekkie all day long. The eggs over easy were done just right and the hash browns (considering it was 3 PM) were fresh tasting, nice and crispy on the outside. Tully's coffee is served and was not weak as too many other places often stretch "premium" coffees. This place has a very large four page long menu. No tutti frutti ice cream but what are you going to do, eh? Life is hard. Wear a helmet The service was very attentive - almost too so as I could not drink my coffee as fast as my server made his rounds. There could be worse things, I guess. My only complaint was that, it being a sunny day, the kitchen's back door was open so the cook's smoke break filtered in. We waited at least 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us . This place is very small, maybe 10-12 tables and half were empty, it's not like they were busy. We sat down and took awhile before the waiter took our order , he needs a major attitude adjustment. He seemed so annoyed with every customer. It took well over 45 minutes to bring two hamburgers, the 2 people who sat down when we did were already done with their meal. A couple came in 30 minutes after we did and received their meal a few minutes after us. They get two stars because food was good and great value $ for portions and music choices. The wait was grueling especially because it wasn't busy , there was no apologies, the waiter was absolutely horrible, try to smile dude or at least pretend like you like people. Trying to kill time while my kid is taking his SAT. Based on the recommendations and they have WiFi, I was not disappointed. I had the Medicine with Bacon and I can't believe I ate the whole thing!! It is loaded with big chunks of vegetables and just enough cheese for flavor, not to overwhelm which is custom in most places. I forgot to tell them to hold the onions, but they were big so I could pull them aside. Non stop coffee and good service. I got here early with plenty of seating and it filled up quickly.
