I was referred to the owner Jimmy by a couple mutual friends we have, telling me Jimmy and his team like working on the kind of car I have. When I encountered a service engine light in my car, Jimmy was quick to identify the issue and accommodated scheduling me in at a time that worked for me when the parts would come in. Jimmy and his team were quick to fixing what needed repairs when the parts came in, and my car has been very reliable since! He took 1 year and few months and couldn't complete my project. Couldn't tune my Rx8, didn't know how to get it start it. Another thing he left my Rx8 outside of the shop property. FedEx and O'Reillys Workers would see it outside parked with windows down and not being touch it or work on. My car did get lots of damages that's going to cost me about $4000 to get it repaired. I wouldn't take or recommend this shop to any car project lovers. I had to pull the plug and had my Rx8 towed out from there. He refuses to give Creative Auto Lab his Insurance info so they can take care of it. I sent him a email and no reply. Calls he ignores or blocks us from calling. Please people do your research about any shop you going to hand over your car to. Time to go to court Richard. Oh yeah they almost took like a year to order my exhaust parts and other parts I need it. Maybe you guys where good few years back but not no more. The owner, Tim, here is awesome - professional, straightforward, honest and tells you exactly what you need or don't need done. My ford has been in a couple more times now for an odd smell coming from the engine and basic maintenance. Always gets the work done and a very fair rate. He mentioned they work on European cars after I mentioned I had a Mini and since then now have an Audi... after the estimate at Audi for a brake job, I said thanks but no thanks to Audi and came here. At around half the price, Tim apologized for the expensive parts as apparently my Audi has the most expensive ones.. no problem, I will take that price any day. Tim also reviewed other items on the list of "things to do" from Audi and noted when things may actually need to be done or if I can wait longer. I saw all the great reviews and I was referred here by a trusted friend when my car started having oil in the coolant reservoir. Tim told me his next availability was 2 weeks away so I waited and towed my car in the night before my appointment. I never received a call about my car so I called and checked in 2 days later and he tells me he didnt look at my car yet because he didnt write down my info and forgot about my appointment. He calls me later to tell me that theres definitely a bad headgasket and it was too expensive to make sense to repair and my car was basically toast. I paid around $300 and took my car home. I drove on the car a good 300 miles and it ran smoothly so I decided to get a second opinion. I looked up subaru specialty and took it to ackermans in berkeley and without even looking at it yet, he immediately said " you have a bad pcv valve" and it's a common issue because there wasn't evidence of the coolant in the oil reservoir so the leak was one directional. He replaced the valve for $280 and its been a year and half- it fixed the problem! I didnt want to write a bad review but after all this time Im so grateful I found Bruce at ackermans so if youre a subaru owner looking for help, reconsider this place. So waited to 6,000 miles and changed - oil so black that the mechanic said it hadn't been changed for a long time. So black- he started to look at the manufactured motor and said it's the same motor as the vehicle came with. Doesn't look like they replaced motor. Checking with owner of this shop to see. Also the cost for a new replacement refurbished motor is over $9,000 and a 100k warranty, rebuilt same motor just fixing head gasket is just over $6,000 and only 25,000 mile warranty . My current refurbished replacement motor has rough idle, engine light is on and can't reset engine light.
