The restaurant is "The Good, Bad and the Ugly. The Good. The food. The grouper fish tacos were delicious. Nice and moist, well seasoned wrapped in a fresh tortilla. So good we got them on both visits. The coconut shrimp and peel and eat shrimp appetizers were also great. The Bad. The first night we went on a Friday around 5 and it was very busy. We sat at the bar and both female bartenders were attentive and handled the crowd well. By 6 the place was packed. We noticed the presumed owners being very active expediting orders, seating people and managing staff. They were doing a great job. Saturday night 2 male bartenders, one who disappeared and the other playing video games on his phone hidden by the register. We also noticed the owners were not present. A little later the owners were there, the phone was gone and the bartenders came back. After the owners left the service went with them. The phone reappeared and the second bartender stayed in the corner with his buddy. We had to hail one of them down to get our check. Totally disinterested. The Ugly, the bathrooms. My wife reported there was little to empty paper in the stalls. No towels to wipe your hand and trash everywhere. Overall dirty. If you go here expect great food and great service only when it's the female bartenders or the owners are present. read more

Manager was awful! Went on St. Patrick's day. It was packed. I managed to get the bartenders attention and ordered a beer and a wine. Wanted to tip a couple of bucks but didn't have cash. The machine defaulted to 20%. I hit other to tip 10% but accidentally hit 107%. CC company sent me a notice so I called the next day. They said to call back for a manager. I tried two more times but couldn't get through. So I stopped by the next day when I was on the area. I very politely explained my mistake to the manager. She tore into me. She went on a rampage saying that her bartenders were working really hard that day and there was no way she was going to ask them to pay it back. I told her I didn't expect that but that I obviously didn't intend to tip that much. She screamed that many customers do tip that much and there was no way she would ask staff to pay it back. I get that, and in hindsight I should have tipped more, but she embarrassed the hell out of me in front of the whole bar. If she had explained this to me calmly and politely, I would have understood. We stopped here for a quick appetizer/bite. We ordered the coconut shrimp and the Philly eggrolls. Both were simply amazing. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She checked on us frequently even though we only ordered the 2 appetizers. The place has a very fun environment feeling to it. There is indoor and outdoor seating. This is a very casual place that sells decent food at a good price point, making it an important option in a high priced area. I had the grouper basket for lunch (which is same price as the sandwich, and must come with way more fish, making it a way better deal). Returned for a dinner and got a lobster risotto special. Others in my group liked the fish tacos and the grouper dinner plate. Grouper isn't even from this area (it's from the keys), so it's odd that it's such a staple everywhere, but I'm not complaining. When we arrived in Marco, we needed to eat as we were a little early for check-in so we stopped in at 2 Shea's. I loved the vibe here as soon as we walked in the door. Seems like a couple of guys living their dream here in Marco. We were seated immediately and quickly ordered a Mango margarita and a Coconut-Pineapple margarita - great way to start vacation! Since we were pretty hungry we started with a 1/2 pound of peel and eat shrimp with old bay. Came with both a butter sauce and cocktail sauce for dipping- very tasty and fresh. We also ordered a Fried Grouper sandwich with fries for Wifey and Fried grouper tacos for me. I got mine with the corn tortillas, which was an error on my part-I keep trying to g but I just don't love the texture. Both meals were delicious-again, nice and fresh. Consistently good food every time we are on Marco! We visited late in the week and I was burger-ed out so ordered the burrito bowl which DELICIOUS! Cold beer, but that was as good as it got for us. My wife ordered the fried grouper basket and I question if that was really grouper. It had a really weird, rubbery coating for starters and the fish had no flavor. I've never tasted anything remotely this bad when ordering fried fish. Maybe it was over cooked? Maybe the fryer oil needed to be changed? Maybe they're using some funky new "healthy" oil in their fryer. Whatever it was it was just not good. At least the French fries were decent. I had the nachos. How can you mess up nachos? Very little meat. The sauce had no flavor. Some areas had clumps of onions. It left a nasty taste in my mouth. Great place to go for a beer and watch the games on multiple TV's. Maybe it would have been better if we'd have ordered a burger or a sandwich. read more

We were n Marco Island to visit friends. Great location close to the public beach. We had lunch. Grouper tacos, spicy shrimp tacos, And a mahi sandwich. Our server greeted us right away and took our drink order. Beware there are no specialty drink prices listed. And when asked how much they were, we were quoted a range of $10-$12. Frustrating! The food was hot and very delicious and plenty in every entree.The prices are commiserate with local restaurants. My family has a gluten allergy, and the server went in the back, checked the recipe, took a picture of the recipe, and had my family review the recipe to make sure that the food was safe. They warned that the tortilla chips were house made and fried in the same grease as gluten containing foods. Any sauce that would contain gluten such as a soy ginger sauce was off to the side enough to not contaminate the food. We go to Salty Dog on every visit to Marco... every visit. We have a few go-to items. Choose any salad... add a piece (or 2) of blackened Grouper.. best fish deal in Marco. Or get there early to take advantage of the happy hour (weekdays) and get the fish tacos or the chicken tenders. You can get similar tacos from the main menu as well. Some keys to success at Salty Dog... don't wait for a host or hostess to seat you... see a table/spot you like? Take it. The homemade sauces/dressings are excellent. The ranch dressing, the taco sauce, and the Huli-Huli sauce for the chicken are all favorites of ours. Only one gripe... some of the customers still think it's okay to smoke at an outdoor restaurant. Nothing worse than some ahole lighting up next to you while you are eating. Really wish the restaurant would declare their eating areas as a smoke-free zone. We sat at the bar and had dinner here while we were in Marco Island. It's a smaller establishment, but there is bar seating on the inside and outside, lots of TVs and fun atmosphere. I ordered the key west grouper which had crab meat and shrimp on it and was topped in a key lime beurre blanc sauce. It was amazing! Saltys going down hill. Was here last Sunday and let me say food was bad, drinks were weak and service sucked. The ahi tuna tostadas had rock hard and unripe avacado. The tuna was served warm, was stringy and was poorly chopped. The chicken wings were undercooked, soggy and had an off taste and texture. The pulled pork mojo tacos were too salty and lacked flavor. Our server was basically non existent. Wanted us to order food immediately, was slow, inattentive and just not good as a server. The quality of the food was poor. Did they change purveyors, choose cheaper ingredients and did they change kitchen staff. I have been to saltys at least 50 times. On a very busy night in Marco Iskand, 2 Sheas took great care of our family group of 10! Got us in right away where most places had 1.5 to 2 hour waits. We said we could split into 2 groups of 5 but they accommodated our group all together. The waiter Brian was great! Very friendly, prompt and great service! Food was amazing from the mussels to burgers to salads. We were there for lunch today - which was also great - and decided to try it for dinner tonight! We will be back often. No-frills kind of dinner place, I think the food itself is honestly between a 3-4 star but the value (compared to other places in the area), atmosphere, friendly service - bring it up to a 4. Despite being quite busy had no trouble getting seated for a group of 3 without a reservation at a nice booth. Our server was friendly and we had a good time. The drinks are more affordable here and they had a nice selection of draft beers. We shared a shrimp appetizer (the Blazin' Shrimp) - they were quite good and saucy. I had the Key West Grouper as my main - fairly big piece of grouper with a side of steam vegetables. The grouper had a shrimp and crabmeat stuffing and topped with a beurre blanc sauce - definitely a heavy/creamy sauce but the flavors were good and the lime flavor gave it a bit of a lift. Still happy that I had the steamed vegetables on the side though after that sauce. My friends got the Mahi tacos (looked quite big and loaded x 3 large tacos - I would say a good deal), and the burger (looked large but otherwise fairly standard; my friend said she enjoyed it). The buffalo sauce they use here is not normal, overly thick buffalo sauce. Whatever it is, its awesome. The buffalo tots with the blue cheese crumbles were really, really good. The soft pretzel was massive and was clearly just baked. The food came out really fast which is usually not a good sign but the I was wrong again. Tuesday before Thanksgiving, our group of 8 were able to be seated at 5:30 immediately outside (our preference) whereas the restaurant across the plaza would have been an hour wait. Our waiter was attentive and wonderful. Didn't remember to get pictures at the restaurant but the ones shown are our leftovers. All our food came out quickly. My fish tacos were good, nothing fabulous, but good. The rice and beans that came with were very tasty. The guava strawberry mojito was delicious and everyone else said they enjoyed their drinks. While visiting my mom in Naples, she brought us over the bridge onto Marco Island to check out 2 Shea's Salty Dog. My mom works on Marco Island and learned that Salty Dog is an Eagles bar, and the one of the few places you can catch an Eagles game live on the island. We decided to make Salty Dog our meeting spot to grab dinner with some friends. Our party of 5 was easily able to grab a seat outside without a wait. The menu is big, with many options for those that are GF. For my meal, I got the Mojo Pork Tostadas with a side of sour cream. We asked and learned that they don't have guacamole. This was not at all a deal breaker, as the pork was really flavorful. Friends got various sandwiches including the burgers which have come highly recommended. No one was disappointed and the side of fries were definitely a highlight. One thing to note if you are driving over in-season... while it seems there is a lot of available parking, the lot fills up quickly. We spent 10-15 minutes circling throughout the parking lot and underground spots to find something. It was our last night in Marco and we decided to give this a try. Our friends have been here before and raved about the French fries. They were good but nothing to write home about. I ordered the Strawberry Fields Salad which I really liked. It was a generous portion. My husband got a basic burger with Cole slaw. The cole slaw was mediocre. My friend ordered the grouper tacos without seasoning but they definitely came with it. After she complained they insisted it was just grilled. She enjoyed the macaroni and cheese. The fried pickles, pot stickers and Bavarian soft pretzel appetizers are also delicious, as are the custom cocktails. The Hawaiian mimosa with pineapple is my personal favorite.
