I made an appointment for an oil change and inspection on a two year old pickup truck. I dropped the car off the night before so between 8am and 6pm the next day they would have plenty of time to finish repairs. I spoke with someone twice on the phone throughout the next day and was assured both times that the car would be done by 6pm. I arrived at 5:45 and the car was still on a lift. Then I was told that they had not even started it until after 5pm, Apparently people who walk in take precedent over people who make appointments. They were very unapologetic just saying that was corporate policy. They just do not care about customer inconvenience. read more

Excellent service. Dropped my car off the night before to have all 5 tires replaced, Jeep Wrangler had to spare done too, and it was done first thing in the morning 3 hours before my requested time to have it back by. They don't do appointments so I had to come back a different week to have the tires put on, that's the only thing holding back for 5 stars was the slight inconvenience on my end. Needed two new tires. They didn't have them at the Coventry location, so they ordered them from Douglassville and called me in the morning to say that the tires were there. I asked how busy they were and was told that they were not busy, and I should come right in. I arrived within 15 minutes of the call, and there were two cars in the garage, five mechanics, and two men at desks. I waited about 20 minutes until they brought my car into the garage, and I sat patiently reading a book. An hour later, my car is still up on the lift with no one working on it but 4 of the five mechanics are standing outside talking. After another hour, I asked the desk guy (old, grumpy man) how much longer and if they were doing other things besides putting tires on my car, because that's all I asked for. He was annoyed with me, but went into the garage and got one of the mechanics to step it up. I checked out 2 1/2 hours after I got there, with five mechanics still in the shop and two guys at desks, despite only two cars in the garage. Slow day.... literally... slow day. I will NEVER take my car to this location again. Seems that no one is managing the garage or the employees. read more

Purchased a set of 4 Kumho tires approx. 6 months ago. Since then, I have had several flat tires, had to replace one tire that was only 2 months old. Depending upon which store manager is present seems to determine whether or not a flat fix requires a plug or another new tire. Sidewall issues would mandate a new tire. Tread issues on new ties with minimal mileage is problematic. read more

I just had a simple flat tire repaired and there charge is $30, which is a ridiculous charge. I complained to the manager who said they couldn't do anything about the charge. The manager acted and looked unprofessional. I have been doing business with this company since Chip Levengood started it up decades ago. I am very unhappy. I usually use the leesport location I ran into an emergency situation yesterday.I need my Alternator replaced, they told me they could get me an old Friday. But they squeezed me in yesterday which was very appreciated. But $500 for an alternator. It took them about 5 minutes to find what my regular mechanic could not find in 3 visits. There were mice nests in the car. The nests blocked the air filter and the car would rev. Two new tires were added to the car, and it runs like new. read more

This is an odd business - they spend a lot on advertising (constantly getting mailers, coupons etc) but I've visited three times to just get an inspection and they always tell me they don't have any availability. Maybe they should hire more mechanics and spend less on advertising. My regular mechanic wasn't available, so I took my Toyota Prius for an oil change at CJ's Tire on Glocker Way in Pottstown. After the oil change, I was informed that my car was leaking rear brake fluid and to have the rear brakes replaced. I refused and instead drove my car to my regular mechanic for a second opinion. When I started my car, the lights on the dash were lit up like a Christmas tree. I didn't have one light on prior to bringing it to CJ's Tire. You can draw your own conclusion. After driving 3,000 miles, I took my car for an oil change at my regular mechanic. He told me that my car holds four quarts of oil and that I had one half of one quart of oil left. He also told me that the oil plug was stripped and that whoever did my oil change last (CJ's Tire) shouldn't have put that plug back in. They should have put in a new plug. He informed me that my engine could have ceased, if all the oil ran out and that I was close to that happening. He put in a brand new plug and changed my oil and filter. I spoke to the manager at the Pottstown location, as well as the district manager. I informed both of them about what happened and that the mechanics working there should be more closely supervised because they almost destroyed my car. I asked for a simple refund of the oil change and it was adamantly refused. I have decided to go public about what happened, so others can be informed. CJ's Tire is a chain who will never receive my business again. You are better off supporting your local independently run and operated mechanics. read more

I have been a loyal customer for years, and we have 3 cars- so we have given them lots of business. However, the customer service over the past 2 years in Pottstown has been steadily declining and now just plain rude. They refuse to try and accommodate anything and service is much slower than places in the surrounding area. I have given both the Pottstown and Royersford locations a try but have really been let down. I will stick with Great Bear, Creamery and Sawchucks because they actually treat you nice and with respect and it shows that they value my time and understand that sometimes explanations are needed when making financial decisions. I've purchased several sets of tires here and the staff is always courteous and educated. I actually choose to visit this location which is actually 15-20 minutes further away from me than the limerick location. This location sits a bit off of the main road so you may miss it when you're driving by if you're not familiar with the area. It is in the shopping center across from the WAWA. This location always seems to have time to fit you in for service within a half hour or less when you walk in vs. the Limerick location which always has over an hour wait or trys to schedule you at a future date. Today is a Friday. I went to the limerick store which closes at 6pm about getting a new tire mounted and balanced on a new wheel since I had recently damaged the tire/wheel. Limerick said they did not have the tire in stock and it would be at least until Monday until I could be serviced. They actually recommended I visit this location instead and the staff at this location was able to hold a tire. I am currently sitting in the waiting room which isn't as large as Limerick but its in direct view of the service area which in my opinion is something better since at Limericks CJ's waiting area you are out of view of the technicians performing work on your vehicle. read more

Check your receipt after purchasing tires here. They added their Guardian Plan to the tune of $60.00 without asking or even explaining what it was. Also, the price for the same exact tires was advertised 4 days later on their website for much less stating they are in stock. I took the receipt and the printed info from the website and was told it was a mistake on the website and the tires aren't actually in stock therefore they can't and won't honor the price. Really? Live and learn. I prefer Costco but this was for my daughter who doesn't have a membership so I thought CJ's was a good idea as they treated me well years ago. I have been taking my cars to CJ's Tire for awhile now and I am completely happy with their service. I go to the one in Suburbia Shopping Center in North Coventry Twp. I get my tires and my cars inspected/emission there and always a positive outcome. The staff is friendly and explains everything to you. I took my car to the dealership for inspection/emission and they would tell me you need brakes (when infact I knew they weren't bad because i had a pre inspection done on it) and then your car is almost at 50,000 would you like a car service maintenance pkg. No more going to the dealership. That is the reason why I keep coming back to CJ's. read more

I have used the Birdsboro location for about 18 years, but since I live close to the Suburbia Shopping Center (how's that for a scary name) I tried them recently and was treated quite well. Just like to thank this facility as my wife hit a curb and destroyed the hub cap, I bought a new hub cap and asked the manager if he could take a look at the hub to see if there was any more damage, they did so and even replaced the new hub cap for my wife's car. Tuesday August 18th 2009, my wife brought our 2002 VW Jetta TDI wagon to CJ's to have a brake light fixed, tires checked, and to diagnose what sounded like a loose belt. During the diagnostic of the loose belt one technician was revving the engine from the drivers seat while the other technician was under the hood diagnosing the noise. After waiting 40 minutes she approached the service manager who informed her that the engine stopped working during the diagnostic and that their was nothing further they could do. Upon having the vehicle towed to a VW dealer we found out that the CJ's technician did not know how to properly diagnose, was not experienced working on diesel engines, and as a result of his negligence caused a cylinder to collapse in the engine. The VW dealership quoted $9,438.24 for repairs and the replacement of the engine. We returned to CJ's and asked the service manager to file an insurance claim for the mechanics negligence. After several attempts to placate us over a week the manager Brad Stauffer filed the claim. We later found out that the staff at CJ's gave a false deposition to their own insurance company claiming the vehicle was to operating when my wife arrived for the service and they we unable to diagnose it. The denial letter from motorist mutual insurance group arrived. After several conversations with CJ's corporate management we determine that CJ's had no intention of taking any responsibility for their mechanic or his negligence simply stating that the engine must have been "worn out" with only 90k miles on it. Fortunately we were able to find an excellent local repair shop called Phoenix of Palm (now located in phoenixville) to remove the engine, ship it to Promar engines of NJ for a complete rebuild, return the engine to Phoenix for installation all for $7,549.27. A price that also included a new water pump, clutch,etc... We have not returned to ANY CJ's location for any service or purchase. After the repair work was completed on the vehicle I utilized the car for my daily commute to Parsipanny, NJ. I sold the car last week with 170,000 miles on the engine for KBB private sale value and purchased a 2012 VW Golf TDI. The Jetta Wagon remains a very reliable vehicle. Our only mistake over the ownership was trusting CJ's Tire and Automotive with it's care and service. read more

Was emailed a coupon for a $17.76 oil change that expired on Saturday July 8th. Went that Saturday morning and got there at 7:30 when they opened. No customers in line or in the store and the bays were empty. The CJ's guy tells me it will be a minimum of 2 hours if all goes well. WHAT?! Again, no customers, no cars in the bays. Pulled up a $19.99 coupon for Pep Boys down the street. Got there when they opened at 8:00 and I was done before 8:45. Thought I'd give CJ's a try, but I know where I'll be going from now on. read more

$26.50 for a tire fix...I should have refused, but for the convince (I was getting an oil change); I agreed. Another garage nearby where I have been going last few yrs for car needs is only $5.00 last yr to fix a tire leak. I grew up going to CJ tires, but now that I've been driving for 20+ years I know to never go here. They always look for "extra work" to be done, like cleaning battery terminals, they called me for that? I'm thinking there was a tire falling off, my husband did it in two minutes and they want to charge how much to clean the battery turmoils? I get the call every time I drop my car off for an oil change! All locations...I've been to Birdsboro, West Lawn and Coventry, I can't stand how they look for problems. Its not just me, as I said I grew up in Birdsboro known CJ tires my entire life, all my family and friends now go elsewhere. They need to go back to local mom & pop shop values. read more

Not sure what the other "bad" reviews are talking about! I stopped in to tire shop and Shawn was VERY helpful from the second I met him. Quoted me a price and then said he could get the tires in the next day. I took the next day to shop around the internet and even checked "the Boys" up the road and "the Boys" were a lot more expensive for the same tires. Called Shawn the next day around 11am and ordered the tires....he had them in store by 3pm and I arrived at 5pm to have them installed and was out the door by 5:45pm. The best tire and auto shop in the area. The staff is always going above and beyond and is extremely courteous and polite. Pricing is on point, but I would pay extra because they know how to take care of the customer. My battery died across the street at Wawa and the store manager himself came and gave me a hand, got my car started and when I tried to give him a tip he politely declined and said your loyal business is enough. The service here is ALWAYS top notch. I am a fierce critic of customer service across all industries and every single time I'm in here--usually an emergency--they attend to me quickly and politely. Avoid this place at all costs. They say they do the work and do not. Charge you for service you did not approve. Very poorly managed. Numerous others in North Coventry/Pottstown we know have had the same issues as well. read more
